The library in Logansport is part of the Cass County Public Library system. The building is…read morerelatively modern. The staff is remarkably helpful. I came to the library to learn details about the local courthouse. Scott, in the Reference section of the library, spent a great deal of time helping look up information in files and older local history books. He found most of the information that I needed. We also talked about the history of the library. He pointed me to a timeline on their Web site. Logansport has had a library since 1890. They've had several structures, including a limestone Carnegie funded structure. After a fire destroyed that structure in 1941, a newer structure was built. Renovations and additions over the years have led to the current library. The library has a nice reading room with a fireplace and lovely paintings by Hoosier artists. On the first floor is a children's area with a reading room that was filled with kids. There was a very small play area, but for the most part, books are the primary stars in this library. Lots of natural light enters the building. The reference area, pubic computers, and study areas are upstairs. The staff is friendly, helpful and dedicated. I left with maps and I formation and old photographs. There is dedicated parking lot on the east side on the building.

The Main Library in downtown South Bend is genuinely one of the nicest public resources in the…read morearea. It's easy to take public libraries for granted, but visiting this one is a reminder of just how valuable a well-maintained, thoughtfully designed library can be to a community. The building itself is impressive. Everything feels modern, bright, and welcoming, with plenty of natural light and comfortable places to sit. Unlike some older libraries that can feel cramped or outdated, this one manages to be spacious and contemporary while still maintaining the quiet, relaxed atmosphere you'd expect from a library. I stopped in to browse the books and spend some time reading, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much the library has to offer. The selection is excellent, with a good variety of books for different ages and interests. I especially appreciated the children's area, which is thoughtfully arranged and makes the library feel like a place where families are genuinely welcome. The staff were another highlight. I had a question about locating a particular book, and the librarian was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in helping. It's refreshing to encounter that kind of customer service, especially at a public facility. There are also plenty of comfortable areas for reading, studying, or getting work done. I noticed several people using the library for different purposes, but the overall environment remained calm and organized. The building was clean, the restrooms were well maintained, and everything seemed carefully looked after. What I appreciate most is that all of this is available to the community without an admission fee. In an era when so many activities and services cost money, having a beautiful public space where people can read, learn, study, and spend time is something worth celebrating. Overall, an outstanding library and a real asset to downtown South Bend. Beautiful facilities, helpful staff, an excellent selection of materials, and a welcoming atmosphere for people of all ages.
