And even though she wasn't a current patient, they fit my mother in to their tight schedule on the day I called them - 4 days before they were closing for the holidays! My experiences with Dr. Kim and his staff have been excellent. Sharon, at the front desk, is a dear who's always ready to answer questions; my hygienist Theresa is wonderful and has a very gentle touch during cleaning; and the doctor is knowledgeable and professional. When I needed a crown, he made it in the office, so instead of 2 visits two weeks apart, it was one visit for an hour and a half, and finished. He monitored a fractured tooth and then sent me to an outstanding surgeon when it was the right time for an extraction. I have since referred friends who had dental issues and they've been pleased as well. Only drawback - a short week as they're not open on Fridays. Otherwise I go nowhere else. read more

I will never recommend this place to my family, friends or to anyone. They are good in the beginning, take your money and once they got it, they do what they want and don't listen to you. I went for clear braces. They charged me $4,000 out of pocket. I used the brace for about a year with several visits. Dr. Kim said that the gaps between my teeth have closed and teeth became straight. He asked me to look at it in the mirror and so I did. My teeth was not straight so I asked him that it needs more time to correct the issue. Dr. Michael Kim did not listen to me and said it's good enough and there's nothing else that he can do about it. I was very disappointed to him. His job is unsatisfactory. Very Bad experience. Do not trust them. Stay away from this dentist or you will regret. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Kim for his competency, professionalism, and excellent chairside manners. Both Sharon and Jamie were really nice and friendly. The office was clean and bright with modern technology. I can tell Dr. Kim takes pride in what he does and tries to make the experience as comfortable and painless as possible. Also, he is an HONEST dentist. You will not find many of his kind. So he won't recommend "extra" procedures that a lot of other practices try to swindle you into. Since this is a new ownership, there aren't a lot of reviews. But I can guarantee there will be a lot more five star reviews once this gem is found! read more

Dr. Michael Kim used to be my dentist for many years when I lived in Southern California and all the dental work I received from him has lasted me many years and still counting with absolutely no problems!! He has the most gentle touch and is his attention to detail shows in his work. Therefore when my mom who still lives in the inland empire broke a tooth to the gum line, I immediately knew who I would trust to give her the best care. The tooth was not savable unfortunately but he was able to remove the tooth and place an implant the SAME DAY! Now she is in the healing phase and looking forward to getting the a tooth back in her smile in a few months. I wouldn't trust anybody else to treat my family members. read more

Dr. Michael Kim and his staff helped in an emergency situation with an abscess tooth. My husband has a very vulnerable immune system and when we had been referred to two other dentistry offices with no available time to help the day we needed. I had enjoyed DDS Peroni and staff before DDS Kim purchased the practice. We were both impressed with the urgency Sharon took with us to get my husband in right away, even though they had so many emergency patient's that day they still maneuvered a way to fit us in. Not only does he have a caring and compassionate staff, Dr. Michael Kim is as gentle and caring as they come. Dr. Kim and his staff are very professional, efficient, and nice! I went in for invisalign and a cleaning. All of the staff were excellent and proficient and they made the whole process as comfortable as possible. Dr. Kim answered any and all questions regarding the process of invisalign and any other concerns were addressed as well. Making an appointment was very easy and the receptionist was very friendly. I was driving to palm desert all the way from LA and was afraid I would not be able to find a time that fit my schedule. My dentist retired recently and I am (still) trying to replace his excellent service, Monterrey Dental was not the place. The first time I met Dr. Kim he was hustling like he was selling used cars, I assured him I get my teeth cleaned every six months and I could not possibly have 13 cavities. Insurance companies do not like to pay for second opinions so I was backed in to the corner to have Dr. Kim do some work for me (amazingly when I came in to get the work done, it turned out to be only three cavities). I must say he is a highly skilled dentist, he did an excellent job on the cavities he filled which were in my front teeth. I am not sure what happened, but when I came for the second visit I had some questions about how they were charging me so I asked to speak to the person who does the billing before we got started. After five minutes she walked in to the room and asked me to leave, I was shocked, she said I was asking too many questions and the doctor did not have time for this AND I had snatched a paper out of her hand the last time I was in there (WHAT, I would never be physical like that with anyone). The doctor hid in his office throughout this exchange, I asked to speak to him and he come out hesitant to do the work, obviously there was a conversation about me before I came in that I had no idea about. I told him I planned this time off of work and I would appreciate if he would do the work and he did. I had remembered calling the day before and questioning the amount I was suppose to pay as well and she insisted it was correct. She quoted me much more then 20% and I assured her I was actually good at math in school and I knew that 20% of the number she quoted me was incorrect. Apparently this upset her and she made up the story about me grabbing a piece of paper out of her hand (I guess it was like, how dare I question her), that's why I brought it up again when I came in and apparently this made her even more upset and she asked me to leave. After the work was done, guess what she charged me? The amount I told her in the first place that she was insisting I was incorrect about. Very unprofessional, I will never return. They took all this out on my husband as well. When he went in they told him it would be two to three months before they could do any work on his teeth so they could have their numbers correct first with the insurance company (obviously a stab at my situation), how rude. I have no idea why a dentist with his good skills would employ someone this manipulative and take their word over a patients. Until shes gone, I highly do not recommend this place read more

My mom was the office manager for a very upscale dental practice during my 20's. I had a dental plan through work and since my mom was very involved in their business, I got the best dental work possible. Now 45 years later I have found the same honest professionalism at Monterey Dental. The entire staff is great. Dr. Kim has the best chair side manner and skill set I have experienced in decades. The fact his fees are very reasonable is the icing on the cake. You will not be disappointed. read more

I found the office overall very clean and modern and the people all pleasant. The only complaint I have is that they do not offer Care Credit without a finance charge for 12 months. No everyone has the money for the more expensive procedures. I was told that they charge Dr. Kim for the use of Care Credit so that is why he does not accept it. read more

First time at Monterey dental and it was a great experience! The staff were really kind and attentive to my needs and made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Kim is amazing! He is an excellent dentist! He is always making sure the patients are comfortable. He did an awesome job on my tooth that needed some repair. No pain during the procedure, i didn't have to worry at all. He made sure to give patient education after the procedure which a lot of dentist tend to skip. The place is really nice and clean. It wasn't hard to find the place at all. Stay away and keep yourself from getting ripped off as I did! No info after having 2 teeth pulled and was still bleeding out to the point where I was home alone and terrified! Bridge done and put the permanent one on, only to find out there was a gap between my gum line and the bridge he made leaving a black space, very cosmetically disturbing, that when I went in, he said he should have waited longer for the gum to drop! Putting it on too soon meaning he has to take it off and do another one! My biggest fear! I was already scared to even get this so I couldn't deal with what it would take to cut it off and start over! I asked can't you just make something to fill it in and he said he did that for his father and it lasted a year! Did it for me even though he complained like it was my fault and I said, "your the dentist you should know what you should have done", which I thought to myself, the nerve of him! I got in a car accident after this and had a bad whiplash and had to go in, as it was coming off and was dealing with almost swallowing it many times and dropped it many times, and was always worried I'd lose it, but he shook my hand on a promise that he would replace it if it came out again or was not staying put and said he wanted to redo the whole thing but I told him I in therapy for my neck injury and can't yet! Now that the second quick replacement took all of a half hour,is coming out I called several times to schedule as my neck is doing better and Monica at the front desk said he's not doing anything! Lied to me as he promised and said he would and knowing that whenever I was up for it he would do the bridge correctly. I was stunned, hurt and felt his word was no good! HORRIBLY WRONG,to lie and leave me in this place! I had asked for it in writing at the very beginning and Monica and him said they assured me there would be no problem! I would recommend staying far away from this place, as they seem trustworthy sweet, kind and believable, but I'm just letting you know that they aren't, and now they are putting this all on me and after I paid a big price physically and financially, I have suffered and now have to deal with this on my own!
