Not to mention that at any point in time he fell behind they were quick to let me know. However; for some reason this year (3rd) a lot has changed. They didn't have a christmas showing wich was very dipressing & his teacher whom I still do not know her name because she spends more time absent than her entire class combined. And when she does decide to show up shes late not giving me an opprotunity to speak with her. This isn't the first teacher I've heard who does this thus the one star reduction. But the second star was taken off because of the lack of the christmas performance and parent teacher assemblies. I forgot to mention my son was awarded student of the month for February 2014 and his teacher "forgot" to mention it to me. That was very upsetting! I didn't get to see my boy receive his award. Overall some teachers take thier job seriously, but due to those who simply do not care I gave the school 3 stars.

The excitement with which my child talks about the day's work, and the enthusiasm for learning that has been instilled, are very encouraging. I truly appreciate the Montessori approach, especially the practical life aspect, which has positively shaped my child's day-to-day habits. I'm also grateful for school's effort to educate parents on the Montessori philosophy and methods, as there is a lot that I have been able to incorporate into my home life with positive results for my family. The teachers were continually patient and understanding with my child, who had long stretches of regularly getting upset during the drop-off time. My son and daughter attended for over 4 years, all very important years and they would not be the amazing kids they are today without the guidance, love and structure they were given at Auburn's House. The Peace Table is one of my favorite examples of ways kids grow here. Children settle differences at a small child size table, with only one kid talking about their feeling at a time (whoever is holding the flower gets to talk). Everyone has a chance to be heard and to explain how they feel, reinforcing to kids that their feeling matter and that they matter. The adults do not interject right away, the let the children have the opportunity to be problem solvers and peacemakers. My children brought this into our home, after learning it at school, and they still use it with one another to this day. The things we learned from the teachers at Auburn's house helped us grow as parents! Mr. Joseph gave us tips and techniques to try at home with our son, that when followed almost always worked! They really understand children and their needs at this school and I am so thankful to have found it! It is worth EVERY penny spent, and then some!!

I receive updates from the school regularly on the transparent classroom app including pictures of my kids in class. It's always awesome to see what they're working on. For example just the other week my five year old was introduced to multiplication! There are tons of manipulatives in the classroom that make the learning hands on and engaging. I love that my boys are able to learn at their own pace and they are able to work with classmates to share ideas. The staff are all very kind, patient and supportive. School colors are still blue & yellow! The K-8th grade I knew has been shortened to K-5th.... And the schools gotten bigger! The playground equipment all looks decent and as safe as playground equipment can be. BIG Error of Omission on the schools part..... If you're out at the practice field (they are also home to the Toro Bulls Youth Football teams & Cheer squads) there are ZERO garbage cans OR any recycle bins to be found ANYWHERE!? Explains the large amount of garbage clinging to the fence lines around the Entire School! Sad. The kids I know enjoy attending Spreckels. They like their teachers and the teachers I've met all seem to have their act together. The auditorium still looks exactly the same. When setting up for the book fair last year, it gave mii oddly comforting chills to be up on the stage I walked across 22yrs before to get my 8th grade "diploma". They have lots of extras curriculum activities like, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, music, tennis, soccer, wrestling, track and cross country.
