She was very friendly and answered all of our questions thoroughly in English. The wine tasting was excellent and she made it easy to purchase and ship a case home. We were fortunate to time our visit just before the harvest as we were able to sample the grapes as we strolled through the vineyards, accompanied by the family cat, Attilio. Elena's father joined us during the tasting and while he spoke no English, was clearly happy we were there, sampling the wines. The tour is one of our favorite memories of our two weeks in Italy. When we make it back, Poggio al Bosco will be on the itinerary.

Wonderful side trip!…read more I discovered the De Ricci winery through travel friends who invited me on this enchanting tour, found on TripAdvisor for $31. I learned about the wine, the Etruscan history in Tuscany, and got to visit an ancient underground Etruscan temple! The wines offered during the tasting were lovely, most of them made with the sangiovese grape family. Fun fact: What animal is on the wine label? If I were to do this again, Id choose the other package on Trip Advisor for $39, as that included a sommelier. As this was, we were left to our own devices. Still fun but not completely satisfying. The little town of Montepulciano has an interesting history, as explained by our Montepukciano De Ricci wine tour guide. I wont share because its definitely part of the fun of the visit. The tiny town has a marvelous chocolate shop, museum and s tower which you can climb (only 75 steps!) and take incredible photos of the Tuscan countryside.

Gabriel gave us interesting information about the Castle, which was built in the 11th century by Benedict monks! He showed us interesting things such as a hidden room where people can spy into the dining room through a hole in a painting, an underground tunnel, and a theater with its original backdrop from 1742. Don't forget to take a few pictures at the giant bench which is a few minutes' walk away. The view is gorgeous and the grounds are well maintained. For the tasting portion, we really enjoy the high quality of wine. Gabriel was also nice enough to let us sample a few other wines beyond the ones included in tasting, such as the dessert wine and the whites. Quite a few of us bought some bottles to take home. There are plenty of wineries in the area and we had visited quite a few of them during our three weeks in Tuscany. This is definitely one of the better ones, for the castle's history, the view, and the quality of wine.

Franco's tour was easily one of the best parts of our honeymoon! We did a private tour with him to…read morethree wineries and an olive oil farm throughout Tuscany, including both Chianti Classico and Montepulciano. Light breakfast and lunch included too! We did the wine lovers tour at Antinori nel Chianti Classico the day prior to our Franco Fadda tour, and it was awesome to follow that with Franco Fadda. We got to see much smaller wineries in comparison and felt like it was a more authentic, unique experience that we would never have been able to do on our own. What's even better is Franco is such good friends with everyone along the way that you just can't help but smile at all of their interactions together. And it's easy to see why! Franco is such a blast to be around, and we were with him for 12 hours straight. :) Throughout the day, we essentially had a private tour and tasting at each winery with no one else onsite, and got a much closer look at each wineries' processes and what made them unique. Each winery was phenomenal with delicious wines, and we shipped some home from them all, which Franco makes easy by helping coordinate it for you in partner with one of the wineries. Lastly, the olive oil farm was a wonderful treat too! We got to taste and see the olive oil being made by one of the best makers in the world and he's only 20 years old! It was incredible and basically being made out of a garage-like space on the family's property. We honestly cannot recommend a tour with Franco Fadda enough. We've been raving about it since we got back from our honeymoon, and it was easily the main highlight of our entire trip. This is a once in a lifetime experience that is worth every penny and more! We felt like we got so much beyond what we paid for that doing one of his tours should be a no brainer to all. You must book with Franco if you're in Tuscany! You won't regret it!
