Took my truck in for a transmission repair last year. At first, it seemed like the repair was in…read moregood order, however, less than three months later, it broke again. I paid roughly $2500 for the rebuild, and it breaks after only three months? Well, I took it back in, they fixed it, again, as it was under warranty. Five months later, it starts to slip. I take back in, this time, I checked the codes, and it showed something about a stuck shift solenoid, and they ignored me when I mentioned it. They "fixed" it, but it didn't seem right. Now I am questioning if I should have a full diagnostic at a proper dealership for my truck as it has broken yet again, and I'm reasonably certain I'm outside the warranty period, but no other Aamco is willing to look at it, insisting I go to the shop that did the initial work, and I don't want to pay another $2500 to maybe get another year out of my truck No.. I used to trust Aamco, not so certain I can now.

Estep "rebuilt" the transmission and 4 months later it started doing the exact same thing it was doing to start with, only worse. I took it back to Estep since they give a 1 year warranty. Well I've gotten nothing but the run around since! It's been 2 months now and it still is NOT fixed. They did tell me it was ready a week ago and when I went to pick it up, it literally wouldn't even go in drive. After reading Yelp reviews, I found out I'm not the only one they have pulled this on. Save yourself a lot of time and trouble and go ANYWHERE else but Estep!

Ironically, I was trying to trade the Ford in for a Dodge truck. The transmission gave out during the appraiser's test drive! You would thing they would have been eager to make amends, but they weren't. They agreed to remove the transmission, fix it, and repair it for $350. It took them over two weeks to make that happen. It turned out they had failed to replace a faulty part in the rebuild, so the matter was entirely their fault. No apology. No, sorry, we cost you $200 in towing fees and then charged you another $350 to fix the mistake WE made. Nothing. Incompetent jerks.

I broke down on my way from NY - FL, got towed to this place, waited for the transmission to be…read morefixed, they called, said it was ready, drove 2 hours to pick it up. Was told "we didn't want to tell you over the phone, but you need a new transfer case as there is a crack in it". Had it towed to another shop closer to where I was staying in Asheville, NC and not only the owner of the shop in Asheville, but the mechanic that repaired the drive shaft and the Jasper Transmission Representative all told me that Allied Transmission was the cause of the transfer case breaking because they changed the yoke and did not balance the drive shaft! This cost me another $3,000 after I had paid Allied $5,600!!! I asked the owner to compensate me for his mistake, he refused. The representative from Jasper transmissions went to the shop and asked the owner to do the right thing and compensate me, he said he wasn't responsible. Do you think the fact that I'm a woman traveling alone, from NY no less, and the fact that they wanted a certified bank check for payment was a wee bit discriminatory??? I do. And again I ask the owner of Allied Transmission to do the right thing and pay for the mistake that your shop made of not balancing the drive shaft after you put in the new yoke! After we picked it up on the way home we were going up a hill and it lost speed and you could smell the transmission burning. We called and told them, they wanted to know if it was leaking, which it wasn't, so they told us it was just breaking in. Long story, but we ended up taking it back five times. They kept telling us nothing was wrong with it. We had two separate mechanics tell us it was the torque converter not releasing. We even bought the extended warranty. We dropped it off one last time for him to drive. He finally told us it was the torque converter and he would have to rebuild it and our transmission and it would cost us 2500 dollars, because he said it was out of warranty. After he drug his feet, and kept telling us nothing was wrong with it. This place only wants to do shotty work and take advantage of people. We didn't let them do anymore work, because they can't be trusted to do what is right and stand behind their work. Bad way to do business.
