Had a ridiculously good experience with this business. - They are EXTREMELY professional and cool. Also military friendly. Longstory short, I had them put a custom PC rig together for me because I was struggling to do it myself (lol). During the waiting period, I was given a 3 day notice to prep for a 30 day field problem. Monster Computers did me a solid and worked on my PC while i was out in the field (as opposed to making me hold the parts and doing it upon return) so I could enjoy it once I was back. During this time, there were a few complications with broken parts I bought. I had very limited communication with them due to bad signal/being in the field, but for the small amount that I had, they helped out by returning the parts for me and using new ones i ordered to their location. They did absolutely everything they possible could to make sure that my computer was built and ready to go ASAP, giving me an impressive and stress free experience. Plus the dude there who worked on my PC was hella cool And on top of it all, they charged a very fair price for all the work they had done for me 5/5, would highly recommend, great business read more

Finally made contact that the part was in to schedule service. Then they refused to service the device because they failed to keep proper records and our receipt proof of purchase wasn't enough. Brought in a beloved older gaming desktop. I expect the experience I had here is similar to many others. Was told the issue with it was the motherboard, gave the okay to replace it. Then was told it was the cpu, gave the okay to replace it and paid for it before it was ordered. Meanwhile, months are passing. Every time I called the shop, was told there was no one to talk to about what was going on, and to not call. When I came into the shop, owner wasn't there, was told not to come in, that they will call. I gave them a chance to follow through on this, but weeks would pass. They never called me once. After giving them a chance to "call me back" a couple of times and they never did over more than a week, I began coming in and calling despite their protests. A couple of times got attitude from the person at the counter because I hadn't "paid for anything yet," though I had paid for the cpu before it was even ordered (got endless excuses to how that part hadn't come in yet, etc etc- that took weeks on its own) but what was there to pay for? The computer wasn't even fixed yet. Also, any time I talked to the owner at all, all she did was complain about her life and acted like I was being unreasonable towards her to be "hassling" her so much. She had every excuse in the book, no matter how ridiculous the situation. It was either, "My life is so hard and filled with drama right now, give me a break," or, "The part won't come in," "DOS won't update," "Not sure if this is compatible," etc etc. More months passed, I just wanted my computer back. They, of course, have the, "You have to pay $125 fee to get your computer back," policy. So I knew that if I wanted my computer back, on top of paying for the parts to be put in the computer (that I'd already paid for) I'd have to pay a fee just to get it out of there... Even though it doesn't work. I hung on with the hopes that she really would fix it. EIGHT MONTHS LATER (not an exaggeration) I came in and said, "Just give me the computer." Owner, the lady, told me it was fixed. I watched it turn on, but didn't even care if it was a lie or not, I just wanted my computer. I took it home, turned it on. It crashes within minutes. It won't turn on. She never fixed it. It was a complete lie and she knew it when I picked the computer up. I wanted to sue in small claims, but she gave me no paperwork on anything except the vaugest details, nothing proving what I'd paid for, or, more importantly, how long my computer was trapped in her shop. I went back, hoping she wouldn't be there (usually never is) to talk to the man at the counter, to ask for a receipt that showed 1) What I'd paid for and 2) How long the computer was in the shop. I'm sure they knew I was planning to sue, because I was given a sheet showing none of these details. When I, again, specified that I wanted a receipt that specified these details, I was told the sheet already showed everything I needed. It had only the date that I picked up the computer. This shop is absolute and total garbage. I didn't sue because I didn't have anything to prove what happened (other than dates for when payments came out of my bank to Monster Computers.) I probably could have made a case with that, but, disgusted and just wanting to be done with Monster Computers forever, I ate the loss. I'm here to warn you all. Deserves negative stars. read more

I came here because I needed my laptop's charger repaired. I heard they were military-friendly and had good service They were incredibly friendly, and I figured I had received good service and had a good experience. I made the mistake of recommending them to a friend, and he spent the next several months fighting with them to get his laptop's keyboard fixed. When he left a negative review, they told him he would not get his refund until his "slanderous" review was taken down. They never fixed his keyb But even though my only issue had been with the charger, they needed my login for my laptop, which struck me as odd. Once I got the laptop back I noticed my games having much worse performance, eating up 100% of my GPU where they had previously taken 20%. I then noticed mysterious programs appearing in my "apps preventing shutdown" screen, and saw increasingly poor performance over the next year. Eventually my laptop just stopped turning on. I went to experts and described the situation to them and showed them the mystery app that had been appearing, and I was told my laptop had most likely been killed by a crypto miner. I cannot recommend enough that you STAY AWAY from this place. They put on a friendly mask and take advantage of those who do not know much about computers, and by the time you realize what is truly going on, it's far too late. read more

I brought a laptop here for a motherboard replacement. The original quote was for 2-3 weeks, but it ended up taking 6 months, and I still ended up with a broken computer and a 130 payment. They lack communication skills, and I'm sure it would take a year for them to change a single key on the keyboard if you let them. Brought in my EXACT laptop charger I wanted to replace, paid 80$ for the NEW charger, and was told it would be 2-3 business days. Took TWO WEEKS to finally get a call in. The charger did NOT FIT. Got too deep into a phishing scam. Gave them remote access before I realized what was going on. I shut it down and took it straight to Monster computers. They very quickly scrubbed for malware and viruses. Then cleaned, and tune it up, all in a few hours. My laptops case was messed up which caused the battery not to charge and then my power adapter died. Not wanting to drop 1200.00 for a new laptop I searched for a reputable place to see if it could be repaired. I originally arrived at 9AM when they open but they weren't open yet so I went back at noon. The owner Rob tested my power adapter and confirmed it was shot. He wasn't sure of the exact issue without opening the case so I left it and went home. I got a call within two hours with the diagnosis and agreed to the repair. At 4pm my laptop was ready for pickup. They replaced the keyboard and lent me a power supply to use while they ordered a new one. No complaints-fast service and personable employees. read more

TL;DR I will not be coming back. If you have a custom build or need your computer for income, steer clear of this store. They're understaffed especially for a business to be so close to Fort Bragg. There's 1 employee working every time I walked in (with 2-3 total employed.) Atleast they're kind. A month+ later and they couldn't fix the problem. They charge an extra for card payers. July,26th - I call the store and speak with George. I would need to bring my pc in for two issues. 1) (Main issue) When I run any game (Destiny 2, Modern Warfare,etc) that's GPU intensive, my monitors would turn black while my fans would blow full speed. It would not leave this state unless I manually turn it off. 2) There was a small buzzing noise coming from near the back CPU cooler fan. He tells me that I would bring it in so that they could test all the PC components after I tell him that I think it could be a problem with the power supply after looking up other alternative solutions online. I drop it off the following day for testing. July,28th - I would call the store to check the status of diagnosis (thinking that enough time had pass to check the major components at least) and what would be the next steps. Robin greets me and tells me that issue is that I would need to replace the CPU all-in-one cooler. They didn't have any instore so they were originally were going to charge me $139 I believe for that new part which would need to be shipped. I asked what the name of the part is and she couldn't tell me as her manager already went home. I then say that there's a cooler at Best buy 10 minutes away for $80 (I would buy that cooler at Best buy the and drop off at the store the next day near closing time.) She said that it would be done by Monday in the afternoon which was also my birthday. I was thinking that was great timing. She explained that person who works on custom builds would not bein until Monday. They need to break down the pc to replace the cooler and then put it back together she said. August,2nd - I call the store around 2pm to see if it was ready, Robin answers and tells me that they haven't started yet so I say okay. I would later that day drive to the store at 5pm, one hour before they close, call and still wasn't ready yet. I wait in my car in front of the store almost an hour. 15 minutes before they close I walk in and Robin explains that it'll take some time still and I ask to wait inside. It's 15 minutes past closing time now she calls me to the back to of their store to run a game on the computer. I had no games installed at the time that I could run. Robin lets me take the PC back and says if the issue continues that I should bring it back. I drive home and immediately test a game, and game doesn't even get to the main menu before my PC crashes. August,3rd - Robin picks up when I call in the morning and I tell her that the problem is still happening and that the CPU cooler wasn't the problematic part. I ask then if I'm going to be charged another $150 (custom build service fee) because my main issue wasn't solved. She explains that technically I should be because I "rushed it" but it be could waived off. I tell her that if it wasn't ready when you told me it was going to be then you should've told that you need more time. I would wait respectfully until it's finished. I'm not made of money. August,28th - I go to pick up my PC after I was told it was "ready." There's a huge gap in dates since they had the computer since the 3rd. The few calls I had with the store from the 3rd to 28th felt like no progress was being made. Countless "tests" and a month later, my PC still crashes. I was told that one of the games I had installed was working for them and they were playing without problems. It crashed immediately as soon as I launch it. They didn't even tell me how they "fixed it." I was checking my Steam profile & they only launched 2 games ONCE both on the 12th. Even low end games that worked like League of legends crashes. My PC is in a worse state than when I had it a month ago. read more

All they had to do was give a courtesy call on updates, not wait until I was 3 weeks on standby to tell me that one of my parts was ruined after turn-in only for them to offer me an overpriced part in return for a 45 dollar upcharge versus what you can find on TigerDirect or Newegg. (That I did not pay for. I just took what's left and fixed it myself with Newegg parts, which is what I should have done from the beginning.) Do not take your Mac! I took my MacBook Pro in two months ago. I was instructed that my hard drive was bad and needs replaced. Instead of using a SSD, they installed a large, but slow hard drive. This failed less than two months after the install and the $260 bill. I just spent $230 for a certified Mac specialist to install a SSD and additional memory. Monster computers must be a lot better at working with Windows. And their costumer service is mediocre at best, especially if you speak to the owner. Go to MacMate in Cary. read more

Originally, thought this place was great, but have since changed my mind. When I first took my Asus laptop in, it was for the keyboard. Two keys had popped off and a previous repair shop did not put them back on properly. I was told I needed a new keyboard and I "okay-ed" the repair. A month went by with me calling once a week. After the 4th call I was told I had to pay for the part before they ordered...no problem, but wish I had been told that 4 weeks earlier. When I was told it was repaired and to pick it up, I went in to find the keyboard no longer had a blue back light. It was now white...and it bounced, so had to take it back in to have it reinstalled properly. No problem...I did it. A few weeks later, my display started flickering and the laptop would overheat and shut down. Took it in to be repaired. They kept it a couple of weeks, said it was fixed and to pick up. I picked up and the very first night, overheated again. Took it back in. This time, while it was being "repaired" the tech wiped my hard drive!!! All files lost. I had backups of some of my files, but not the ones originally installed by Asus! No way to retrieve those files. I was told to bring it back in and they could fix it. NO THEY DIDN'T! So now, I have a gaming laptop that cannot run games. On top of wiping files, they have replaced my graphics card/display, files, etc. that do not support ANY of the games I used to play. The control software that used to be on here from Asus is no longer available. Cannot adjust the power settings, FN keys do not work, Turbo Gear is gone and a host of other options. This laptop is now JUNK, thanks to Monster Computer!! All I needed was a keyboard fixed and an overheating problem solved and they destroyed my laptop. It isn't capable of much more than a word processor now. Do not take your laptops to them. Oh, and by the way, they claimed the wiping of my computer was done by someone that they fired...who didn't know what they were doing. And this is my problem how??? NO EXCUSE! You should know who you are hiring and what they are doing to customers' property. They had my laptop for months off and on, never called me...I always had to call them for the status. Terrible way to do business. Since I recommended them after my initial visit, I felt obligated to reassess them and make that finding public as well. read more

I brought my Surface Pro 3 in with problems with phantom touch. I knew the issue was larger than it seemed because I had been working with Microsoft for months trying to get it fixed. When I finally brought it in, I was told the tablet would be all set in a couple of hours. I didnt have my hopes up. Three hours later, I got a call saying the issue was deeper than what they had first anticipated, and that they wiuld need to keep it for a little longer. 5 days later, my computer was ready for pickup. When i got there to test it out, there was still an issue, so they kept it for longer. 5 more days later, it was REALLY ready for pickup. No issues. Although I did not get my tablet back on the same day, they kept me updated throughout the process with daily phone calls for my reassurance. I really apreciated that and the fact that they seemed genuinely eager to help me out. Even though my device was particularly difficult to fix, I was not charged extra and was even thanked for helping them learn how to deal with the situation for future reference. read more

I have been very impressed with this store. I recently moved to the area, and was nervous about bringing in my custom computer tower to people I didn't know. But everyone I dealt with at Monster was knowledgeable and friendly, and they did a great job on a somewhat complicated installation! I'd happily recommend these guys to anyone in the area. They generally get stuff turned around on the same day, or within a day at the most. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that they did forget a couple of minor things I'd asked them to do, but as I said... it was a custom machine, and I asked them to do a whole bunch of stuff. The customer service level was really high, so I'm sure if I'd noticed before I'd left they would have fixed it on the spot. The people in the store were also really helpful towards military personnel. They set up CAC readers and got all the software and security stuff fixed up, which can be a real pain. read more

I was in a panic to find the right charger/power cord. While they didn't have the specific one I needed in stock, they had a charger that worked. This business is the perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness. I had some serious issues with my rig caused by another shop that was simply supposed to be installing some LEDs that caused me to have to replace pretty much my entire setup. They welcomed me in like it was their own home and have helped me every step of the way with confidence, and an open line of communication. It's a family owned, down to earth business that cares more about you than their bottom line. I would recommend that anyone bring their computer(of any kind) here to have any work done on it. They don't drastically overcharge, but even if they did you wouldn't mind because of the quality of the service you'll receive.
