I have only been here twice, but I'm going to give them a 5-star review until they give me a reason not to. I made an appointment with Monroe Health Network after a series of abysmal experiences with IU Health and Premier Healthcare (which is soon to be owned by IU Health) when I was extremely sick and desperately needed care. I will save the long version of that horrible experience for a separate review, but the short version is that they didn't do some tests that they obviously should have (which I only learned after talking to someone at Monroe Health), and they didn't prescribe me anything at first even though I was extremely sick and in a lot of pain. Then I was prescribed a serious of incorrect antibiotics, given conflicting information about my test results, had antibiotics switched up on me a couple times, didn't get prescribed meds at ALL for an infection I clearly needed treatment for, etc., etc., etc. I also kept being bounced back and forth between the walk-in clinic and my primary care physician -- my PCP kept saying they didn't have any appointments available until June, and the walk-in clinic just recommended I make an appointment with my PCP ASAP. A co-worker of mine ended up recommending Monroe Health Network to me so I gave them a call, and I had an appointment scheduled within days (days!) with one of their nurse practitioners, who was AMAZING. She answered all my questions and totally explained everything that was wrong with me and helped treat me more thoroughly. She referred me to a specialist who could help with a couple of things she knew were beyond her area of expertise, which I super appreciated. I had bloodwork done 24 hours later, and she gave me the names of some of the other doctors there, and offered to get me an appointment with a GYN in the immediate future as well, if I needed it (I don't at the moment, luckily, but have also had a ton of trouble getting those appointments in the past, so that was a huge relief!) They have a walk-in clinic as well, which I haven't used yet, so I can't speak to my experience there. The interior of the building is very clean but slightly outdated. Also, the nurse practitioner did make sure to inform me that I may not see the same doctor every time I go, which in my opinion is an extremely small price to pay not to have to wait a MONTH every time I need to make a doctor's appointment. She took very detailed notes which she uploaded to their patient portal online afterward, so I have plenty of confidence that anyone I see there would be well equipped to help me. If I come up with any constructive criticism to add I will certainly amend this review, but at this point I am just so relieved and grateful for their help. Before contacting Monroe Health Network I literally had my keys in my hand and my shoes on and was about to drive myself to the emergency room, not because I was actually in a life-threatening situation, but because I literally could not find ANYONE else to help me and just wanted to get better. I also ended up asking the Monroe Health nurse practitioner a bunch of questions that I have been putting off for YEARS since it has always been so difficult to get appointments with my former PCP. I always felt like I was inconveniencing them, and as a result, have only been trying to see a doctor if something is horribly wrong, instead of being proactive and seeking preventative care. After going through all this I am absolutely going to avoid IU Health at all costs from here forward and do everything I can to use Monroe Health Network whenever I need a doctor, specialist, or emergency care. read more

Made an appmt. The office had moved, so the lady I made the appmt through gave me directions, which were not exactly correct, resulting in me being 10 minutes late. I explained this to the lady at the desk, but she didn't care, and without even looking at me, said, "Well, you're 10 minutes late and you've been taken out of the system for today. You'll have to reschedule." I will reschedule -- with another medical group. read more

I used to be very pleased with the care I received from MMG. Not so any longer. After being forced to undergo PT prior to ordering an MRI, it was discovered that I have a torn rotator cuff. I found a COMPETENT physician, who immediately found it and referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. The PT forced upon me by MMG only exacerbated my condition. If this had been the only issue I had with MMG, I might have given them a second chance. However, my wife went through a similar chronic pain issue, and instead of continuing to test to find the cause, she was told to "go see a chiropractor." We were also lied to on a few separate instances, and decided to find a good doctor instead of any of the MMG providers. And so glad we did! read more

Dr Rusche has been my Rheumatologist for 18 yrs now and I don't know how I would make it without him. He is kind and caring, he listens to you & let's you participate in your plan of care,he is your advocate with insurance and disability issues when they arise. If you're looking for a Rheumatologist I don't think there's a better one anywhere. Although, he is quite sought after so to get a new pt appointment schedule now as it will take a bit to get in. read more

Ok, so I got pissed. I had an appointment and had to wait over an hour. still not sure if I'll want to go back. It's super busy. I was definitely a number, not a one on one feel. The nurse practikner I saw was genuinely kind. She cared and listened to my needs. I could yell she was quite knowledgeable. It sucks that she doeant work outside the hospital though. I would like to see her in a better facility. The facility was up to date, clean. I was super super upset about waiting and feeling.like cattle. read more

The doctors and SOME of the staff is competent, but they treat you like money is more important than your health. And that your a number not a patient. I had an emergency visit to the office and wasn't going to be seen because of a balance in my account. It was from the appt I had been to days before. I paid... But then sat for almost 2 hrs after my scheduled time. And still hadn't been seen. Need to get priorities straight. read more

Monroe Primary Care : My appt with Dr. Rwas last month. I waited about 15 minutes and was completing the new patient history when I was called back. I had a mastectomy almost a year ago and my lupus has gone crazy. Unable to use chemo and radiation and reconstruction , I am almost always in pain which is believed to be a neuropathy brought on with the surgery. His nurse was very nice and went over every detail of my history. After she finished, I waited about 10 mins before seeing the doctor. He had reviewed my records the afternoon before and was VERY knowledgeable about my issues. We went over the meds and other recommendations. He spent over an hour with me, ordering a multitude of blood tests explaining the purpose of each of the tests. Three weeks after that, I went for my second appt and was very pleased that he took the time to review test results and make some recommendations. I respect his quiet, professional manner. He is current on lupus treatment and the other problems often associated with lupus that I have ( Sjogren's, abdominal issues, fibromyalgia, to name a few). He also works well withother specialists in dermatology, oncology, and gastrointestinal. The staff is always professional and caring , answering all questions and accommodating my needs. This week I needed a Rx to deal with the side effects of Sjrogen's . I called, explained, and received the lotion that afternoon. For the first time in the 5 years I have been in Indiana, I feel confident that this medical group is the right "fit" for me. I also saw a NP in the Bloomfield office of Monroe Primary Care and again, I have that same confidence and feeling of respect. The offices are up to date and professionally maintained. Believe me, I could write a book on unkempt offices, 'crabby' assistants and often uncaring doctors who probably bought their degrees (just an expression!) so I have to close by saying that I have found the doctor and medical team that best suits my needs. read more

Just went today and got a flu shot in about five minutes. Fast, friendly and professional. I've previously received care several times from NP Brook Whitaker, who is my primary care provider, and once from NP Kathryn Gramlich and they've been great every time. I got started with Monroe Medical Group when I had high blood pressure and what turned out to be cancer, and couldn't get an appointment anytime soon with IU Health. Monroe Medical Group got me in right away and demonstrated a high level of compassionate care I'm glad it has worked out this way. read more

Been going there for 10+ years until now...dropping them as I was charged a "new patient" visit because I hadn't been to see them for a year and a half...talked 10 minutes with a NP, told her what I had, (am an RN) and, wham-o...slam-o...my pocket was picked...so much for having good health...would give no stars if it were possible read more

I see Dr. Van Kooten and could not be more pleased. She listens, answers questions patiently and shows the care one hopes to find in a family care physician. My wait has never been long, maybe I have been lucky; but there was even a day she worked me in at the end of closing time. The receptionist and nurse are also kind, polite and call me by name. I appreciate that. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Porvozink. He was to address my hypertension. I have been on 2 hypertension meds for 20 years prescribed by a cardiologist. He decided to prescribe one of the meds and not the other. I called the next morning after the pharmacy let me know the prescriptions were ready. I noticed that one of them, I thought was missing. I called the office and requested a return call. I was not called back (almost 24 hrs). Unfortunately I was forced to return to the office two days later. I went in to discuss this with a nurse or the doctor. This is what you do when no one calls in a timely manner. During the visit this morning with Dr. Porvoznik I questioned why one was missing. He said...yes these words came from his mouth. "Well, if you are going to do the doctoring, maybe I am not the doctor for you". Therefore, my concerns were not taken into consideration and not addressed. I am 64 years old and have not been treated with this kind of arrogance by a doctor EVER. I am sure Dr. Porvizink has a boss. This needs to be addressed. I am sure he was not really concerned with what I had to say, Therefore, I am sure he is not there for me, but for himself. The reason I am giving an extra star is because the staff was absolutely fantastic. I think Dr. Porvoznik should consider retirement. read more

Rude and unprofessional. The doctors that work here might be worth an $8 per hour temporary position.
