Aug. 25, 2025, hearing test. I had a hearing test with Dr. Griffin two years earlier, and I was…read moresatisfied with the experience. Although I was not hearing any differently, I had recently had an earache and my ENT, seeing I last had my hearing checked two years ago, recommended a hearing test. This hearing check at Hearing and Balance Clinic, with Dr. Griffin had a problem. A problem that didn't register clearly for me until I got my result at the end of the test. My hearing was considerably deteriorated from two years ago, despite my not noticing any change in my hearing in the real world; I heard all the same little sounds that I always did. I had no problem hearing conversations on the phone or in restaurants, etc. It wasn't until I thought more on this unexpected result that I realized that while having the hearing test, I was struggling to hear the test tones and spoken words because of a perceptible hum throughout the entire test that I couldn't tell if it was in the earphones inserted in my ears or in the sound proof booth. The next morning, first thing, I called and asked to speak to Dr Griffin to share my concern. The receptionist said he could not speak to me and that she would tell him my concern and request. I explained that the unexpected bad hearing test result made me question the results due to my having heard a hum throughout the entire hearing test, and that I requested to be retested at no additional charge, and that, now aware, I would let them know immediately if I heard the same distracting hum during the test. They never bothered to get back to me, despite letting three days pass. When I called again, the receptionist told me the Dr. Griffin said that my results were valid, not giving any acknowledgement of my reporting the hum during the test, and that I could have a retest for a $175.00 out of pocket cost. Need I say more about how unprofessional and uncaring this clinic responded?
