Not to be confused with Moonrow Ave, which is where people showing off their naked butts use oars and little boats to cross a river. OK then.
Monroe Avenue is the most important street in Rochester, particularly in terms of night life. If you think of Elmwood in Buffalo then you're thinking of the same thing. With a little Allen St and Chippewa thrown in.
Monroe is a little bit tougher in terms of being a somewhat dangerous place at night, or an irksome place if you don't like getting hit up for money and what not. That kind of thing doesn't bother me but it never feels like the ritziest and most fancy street. Definitely Urban, a little run down, and definitely electric and alive.
There are lots of good places to eat up and down this road, some of which have been here a while and some of which only opened recently. The Crepes 2 Go place with Chinese Crepes and Han Noodle Bar are among the better ones. Voula's Greek sweets and Dogtown are also very famous ones.
