A less than stellar experience. My horse needed emergency help and my vet was out of town- I desperately called every vet in the area and eventually got the receptionist at Monocracy on the phone. Evidently, Dr. Forfa has beef with my regular vet, and the receptionist nearly declined our business for this reason alone. She made a big fuss about, finally, allowing us to be an "exception." I couldn't believe this was even a conversation when I was a willing customer whose horse badly needed help. In addition, the receptionist refused to send the vet out to my farm (or even call him so he could be en route) until I had completed their extensive paperwork (done over the phone). Can you imagine your horse colicing or bleeding from an injury while someone insists you must fill out paperwork before they'll notify the doctor? (Or your kid going to the ER and being stopped at the doors to fill out forms while precious moments tick by and the doctor won't see you? That's what that feels like.) The icing on the cake was that after ALL that, and especially insisting payment must be made prior to the visit, the receptionist actually LOST my credit card information and had to call me a week after the procedure for it. The vet himself actually did a fine job once he came to my property- but I hope I'm never in such dire straits that I need to use this practice again. A read more
