Monmouth County library system's eastern branch was recently renovated, and it's become a great place to read, study, do research or participate in community events. The building and grounds are pretty, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the branch has a lot to offer: expansive children's/young adult sections; meeting/conference rooms; a designated quiet room; second-floor lounge area; computer/internet services; secluded armchairs by the windows amongst the bookshelves; cubicles/tables for solo/small group study, etc. It has become my go-to place when I need to get some work done. read more

This is the main library for the system, and it's Huge! If you're doing research, come here instead of your local branch. Traffic is a bit of a pain to get here, and be careful in the parking lot. read more

I was always taught that a library is a place where you must maintain complete silence -- well not here. During the day the downstairs is full of hustle and bustle, you see people trying to study but the librarians speak at the top of their voices and other people just talk amongst themselves like its some kind of social gathering place. I find that it's rude to talk when you see others trying to study or get things accomplished. Then there's the upstairs - it says "Quiet Room," but again, everyone uses it as a place to hangout. There are times when its dead silent -- great but I think that parents need to control their unruly kids and stop them from running around like its a playground. The quiet study lounge/room is in the back of the library - to the right when you walk in - this room would be perfect to get some peace and actually get things accomplished -- but the internet connection is non existent over here -- LAME. Overall it's a pretty crappy place to study only because you have to tell people to hush every 10minutes. If the general population was considerate and didn't feel the need to let their kids run rampant, carry on phone conversation, and let random people sleep and snore in lounge chairs - it'd be a great place... Basically - best time to go is in the early morning if you want quiet study time - go upstairs and get a desk and study away . Don't bother on the weekend -it's crawling with little kids and parents who don't know how to control them. If anyone knows of a better place to study in the area -- let me know!!! read more

I love to read. I also have four kids who are voracious readers and, let's face it, that can add up to some super moolah. Enter the library. It has two amazing things going for it: It smells like books, my favorite smell in the entire world. And you can request books, movies, TV shows from their website and they will call you when they come in. And this is all for free! Except I never return on time, so it's never free for me, but the fee is still so much less than a new book or DVD. Go to the library, people. Reading is fundamental! read more

I came to get my niece a library book. She is 7 years old and because I'm not her parent they wouldn't let me get her a library card which I find disgusting, denying a kid a card to a library when she loves to read I think this a sick joke!! We will be using the WLB library from now on out!! So in closing this library is not promoting children to read! read more
