    Unfortunately, we had a poor experience with Quilling Electric. The outdoor light installation was fine but after they were done, we realized we could no longer control the power to the floor outlets using the wall switches which we could do with the old outlets. Apparently they were wired incorrectly. We asked them to correct the floor installation and also install a Ring doorbell. They removed the old doorbell and disconnected the wiring to the transformer but didn't know how to install the new doorbell. I ended up doing it myself after finding a demo on U-tube. When I received the invoice, it was clear that we were charged for the time it took to correct the floor outlets which had been incorrectly installed initially. Finally I sent an e-mail politely expressing my concerns regarding these issues along with my check for payment. I never received any reply to my e-mail however the checks were quickly cashed. A second e-mail also went unanswered. I try to give service people the benefit of the doubt whenever the results aren't quite satisfactory however there is no excuse for not responding to customers concerns. Terry W.{

Their prices seemed reasonable enough when our realtor sent us the invoices. Our realtor gave us glowing reviews. This was her personal electrician, as well as the person working on our then-future home. We decided we would be loyal to their business and continue to use them for the duration of the time that we will be living in Menomonie. What a mistake. We called them several times before we received a response. Then, when they finally responded, we made an appointment for an estimate at 3:30 PM in the middle of the week. One hour, two hours, three hours, no electrician. We called them that same day, with no response, and left a message. We never received a call back. My husband called them again, and we still never heard back. I consider this type of behavior to be very unprofessional. We sat around waiting for them for hours, and they couldn't even bother to call us to let us know they wouldn't be able to make it out to our home. Save yourself a headache, and call someone else. They clearly are not interested in making money, and will not take your job.

    Comfort By Design - Gas Burning Fireplace

One morning in the beginning of December our carbon monoxide alarm started going off and woke me up. I ended up evacuating myself and my three cats after it went off a second time and after talking to my husband and opening windows and stuff. We knew it was the furnace because we don't have anything else besides our dryer that is gas. My husband got Chuck Fryer from comfort by design to come out and look at our furnace. He DID NOT RED TAG the furnace, but showed us his meter going up saying there was carbon monoxide. He said we need a new heat exchanger and a new burner and it would run us about $1,700 for labor and everything. I'm SO glad we got a second opinion!! We had a guy from a different company come and he took the burner out and showed us that it was not broken. Why would our furnace be broken two years after it was installed? Because it was installed wrong and cheaply to sell the house. The only problem was the soot at the bottom, which is now thought to be from running out of propane before we moved in. This guy also brought his $200 carbon monoxide detector, didn't detect any in the house with the furnace running, and tested his detector out for us with truck exhaust to show it was working. He said the guy from comfort by design most likely had the meter reading heat and not carbon monoxide, which is why we saw the level rise on the screen, and he said this is a common scam tactic. Considering we are young and new homeowners, this guy Chuck Fryer thought we would just pay it. IF OUR FURNACE HAD A HOLE IN THE HEAT EXCHANGER, IT SHOULD BE RED-TAGGED! This was such a scary experience and I would hope no one has to go through this. DO NOT let comfort by design anywhere near your HVAC system!

When the part arrived, I wasn't able to install it myself, but Comfort by Design was able to send out a technician to do it. There was a travel fee and hourly charge, but the price was fair. The technician was competent and friendly and cleaned up after himself. I knocked off one star because they kind of messed up with my invoice, twice. No malice involved, I'm sure, and they were cheerful about fixing it.
