She said that I took time away from her doing other work even though I am a customer just like everyone else and I would technically be bringing her business. I even wanted to have my dress altered by them but after this experience I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I was honestly very shocked by the treatment that I received. I used to go to Matos, but no more…read more The main alterations person alters clothes I bring in in an unusal way. For instance: 1) For instance, I brought in a pair of slacks with an elastic waistband that needed to be made smaller. It's hard to explain what she did. I thought she would size me with a fresh piece of elastic, open the fabric holding the elastic, remove that elastic & replace it with the new. She did not. She took a sewing machine and sewed a new larger seam, starting with how much she wanted to take in at the waist and merging down the fanny. It made it difficult for me to pull the slacks over my hips. This took place, however, before she started charging huge amounts for her services. 2) I brought a blouse in that had 20 buttons. I wanted the fabric-covered buttons replaced with a different kind of button that had 4 holes. When I retrieved the blouse only 2 of the 4 holes were sewn. I also told her to use a blue thread to match the main color of the blouse. She used white thread. I was blown away by the price: $60.00! She only did half a job. (I guess I wouldn't have wanted to pay $120.00 so that may have been thoughtful of her.) She didn't use to charge that much. Lesson learned: Ask the price before agreeing to the servce. 3) I am amazed that some of Matos's reviews say that she had a clean store. The changing room is NOT clean. The carpet is filthy and filled with straight pins, which if stepped on without shoes is dangerous.

The pants fit…read morewell but the hem was spotty and loose on both legs and the first time I wore the pants my toes got caught in the loose hem. when I brought them back the owner told me it was my fault and I should be more careful. She charged me full price to hem the pants again. I strongly suggest you consider other options for alterations.
