My first experience with Allen Tsai was when he photographed my sister's wedding. My sister…read moreherself, is a photographer. The second time I heard his name was at my best friend's wedding. HER photographer had also used Allen Tsai for her wedding. I decided to take some time and followed Allen's presence on social media and the internet. Turns out he's VERY decorated and has been featured a lot in publications. His clients are worldwide, and all the photographers I respect want HIM for the THEIR weddings. If he's the professional that all the other professionals use, I knew I was never going to entertain any other photographer. The second I got engaged, I told my wedding planner we had to secure Allen. And that's what we did. THANK GOD because it takes a special photographer to handle everything an everyone that was, My Wedding. I got married in Downtown Dallas and my wedding had very "city" vibes. I didn't want to have every "conventional" wedding party shot, and so I had tasked Allen with the burden of making my wedding photos look like "something off the cover of Vanity Fair." Not typically his route for weddings, and also confined to a VERY tight timeline, somehow, Allen was able to execute my vision. More than that, every shot from the reception is PERFECT. The lighting was consistent in every shot (and let me tell you, the lights from the stage and darkness of the room was all over the place that night). He captured beautiful portraits, but also grabbed very intimate moments between myself and my husband, our friends, and our family - shots that we didn't know anyone was watching. The photos were edited and turned in record time (amazing considering he shoots digitally AND in film) and the gallery of proofs was enormous. This was so important because I've heard HORROR stories from friends whose galleries were pitifully small since the photographer didn't have very good content to return. The gallery is easy to use navigate and he even offers printing services (huge if your local pharmacy does a bad job with prints). Here is my biggest jaw-drop of the experience: Allen worked alone. My wedding had around 225 guests and you would have thought (based on the photos) that he had at least two assistants. Finally, Allen is also just awesome to work with. He's kind and dedicated to his craft, and he is so respectful and polite. He rocked my wedding and I'm so glad we hired him.

He did not disappoint! My best advice would be to trust him and his skills as a photographer implicitly. 1. He gives plenty of direction in terms of body placement, posture, hand placement, etc. to give you flawless photos. If you are new to being photographed like me, you'll find this kind of direction extremely helpful and comforting. 2. At the same time, he creates a very calm, light, and fun atmosphere that creates true, genuine moments between you and your significant other. We are two people that usually feel very uncomfortable in front of a camera, however we had such an enjoyable experience with Allen. 3. I really encourage anyone using Allen's services to listen to his recommendations. For example, our original scheduled date was cloudy and overcast. He recommended that we wait for sun if we truly wanted to be happy with our photos. We are so grateful to have listened to him, because the results were wonderful (see attached). There are other photographers that will say that cloudy weather is actually better, however with Allen's technique and skill set, he can do incredible things with the light. We will continuously use Allen's services in the future; we have found our favorite photographer! I couldn't imagine working with anyone else.

We paid an additional $500 for April Pinto Photography to film our entire wedding ceremony, from start to finish. Instead of filming the entire ceremony from a tripod -- as we discussed -- the videographer ran around the ceremony, stopping and starting the footage. Moments April Pinto Photography did not film include: (1) the groom's entrance, (2) the bride's entrance, and (3) the bride's father giving her away. We are missing 4 minutes of a 20 minute ceremony. April Pinto Photography refused to issue any sort of refund (despite not providing us with a "full unedited ceremony video", as dictated by our contact) or even apologize for messing up on the most important days of our lives. (2) Unprofessional Behavior. During the wedding: We received numerous complaints from guests about April's behavior and professionalism. She would yell -- rather than ask politely -- for guests to get in poses or take off glasses. In addition, she offended multiple guests by assuming relationship statuses (e.g., assume mother and son were married or wife and husband were father and daughter ), making guests feel insecure about their appearances and age. Before the wedding: We booked April without interviewing her. After we paid the deposit and had a video call, we felt she was very rude and condescending during our interactions. For example, my husband did not have a lot of opinions on photos, so he would defer to my opinion. April made multiple quips that "he must not care" about getting married and complained that he was "too camera shy" when he did not want one part of his getting ready moments photographed. We found April's behavior so unprofessional that we we began interviewing other photographers and were prepared to lose our $900 deposit. Unfortunately, we could not find someone in time so we attempted to mitigate contact by directing April to only communicate with us through our wedding planner. However, April refused to respect this boundary and would blow up our phones whenever our wedding planner messaged her -- despite both us and our wedding planner having multiple conversations that all communication needed to be through our wedding planner and that she was not to contact us directly. If there is one upside, it's that we do like how our wedding photos turned out. However, working with April Pinto Photography was an overwhelmingly negative experience, and we cannot recommend this business in good faith to anyone -- especially on one of the most important days of a person's life.

Complete Weddings and Events provided a photobooth and DJ for our weddings last month…read more I can't say enough good things about our DJ, Rob. Rob met with me a couple weeks before our wedding to go over song selections and specifics for the wedding. He did an amazing job of reading the crowd and managing the flow of our wedding. He moved up the dances and cake cutting because we were running ahead of schedule, seemlessly transitioned between the ceremony, reception, toasts, etc, made announcements to encourage the guests to use the photobooth and play the lawn games we had set out. I even saw him clearing plates off of a table once. Rob really went above and beyond and I think our wedding went so smoothly in large part because of the extra things he was doing. Our photobooth was also a big hit. I unfortunately don't remember the name of the person running the photobooth but she was also great. She called me a few days before the wedding to discuss timing and where to set up the photobooth and came on time. She made a scrapbook of all of the photos our guests took in the photobooth that I was able to add to my guest book later. Overall both Rob and our photobooth person (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) were on time, did an amazing job, and made for a stress free wedding. I would definitely recommend them.

I wanted to save a little money and went with Complete. Here is what I got. My first dance song was completely wrong. My pictures are awful. Not one single picture of my husband and I that I can frame. Most of our pictures are angled which is just weird and either his eyes are closed or something. Again not one single good picture of us after 1.5 hours taking pics. Our video that took six months to receive has god awful elevator music playing in the background. After browsing their portfolio, we were impressed by their unique editing skill. They do not simply record the events chronologically but present the whole day as a vivid story.
