I also didn't want to originally even dignify the response from the business owner because it was extremely defensive and actively not true but I might as well along side my happy update: Hi Ashley, What you said is not true. I very clearly stated that I wanted my roots done, which was clearly need at the time as I had let my roots grow out to about three inches. My roots were bad and i was coming to you guys with a very simple task. The first thing I was told when I sat in the chair (and was previously told when I had gotten a haircut there prior) is that I have "a lot of hair". The implication that my amount of hair is a burden to the stylist and therefore means she will not have enough time to do what I asked is ridiculous. If you can't deal with curly hair, then say that. What you do is have the respect to me and for yourself, to say im sorry i can't do your hair. "She tried to accommodate you best as her schedule would allow without turning you away" that sounds like a problem with her schedule also you could have JUST TURNED ME AWAY. I would fully understand if someone said that for whatever reason they couldn't do my hair, I would prefer that to what happened. "Your ends had a previous color on them" yes and I made that clear in booking and in the appointment that I have previous color. "You were charged for each of your services because the 1st service was a partial foil and the next was to complete the rest of your hair to make it a full foil" I asked to get my roots done, i did not have that happen for some reason, yes roots is a partial foil. But what she did was put them on the front of my hair for some reason and on half of my roots. The 2nd service was a redo to fix the mistake YOU GUYS MADE, the only was to fix the mistake was to make the rest of my head match. I was charged for an appointment to fix the mistake you guys made. I am most upset about them money wasted (god i can't believe I tipped both times, but I was a freaked out teen who was just trying to be nice) and your attitude. The work was incompetent, and instead of saying, we're sorry for the bad job done by a stylist who (if im not mistaken was still in cosmetology school) or for miscommunication during the appointment (though I know I was very clear on the task of lightening my roots to match the rest of my hair). Instead I was gaslighted down into thinking it wasn't a big deal (that you ruined my curly hair that was down to my back) and that it was my fault? I had been getting my hair bleached for about two years at that point, i knew what i was asking for. I would still lovingly accept a refund and proof of certification for that stylist.

Prior to my visit at J&C Skincare, I decided I wanted to get a Brazilian wax for the first time. Of course, I went to the well-known Groupon and picked a local shop to get my waxing done. To put it short, the salon I went to completely disregarded my sensitive skin and waxed me very roughly. I reacted terribly and got extreme pain, bumps and swelling, not just due to it being my first wax, but due to the lack of care. Immediately, I began looking up local salons to find a place that would help me and be patient with my very unfortunate previous experience. To my surprise, I found that J&C Skincare was very close to me and their reviews on Yelp were phenomenal. The reviewers are what really sold me to go there until I actually called and visited the salon. The moment I rung, Cynthia was very caring and helpful in telling me that it would be okay. Her care over the phone helped me calm down and find a solution. She recommended a soothing gel that I purchased which very rapidly helped alleviate all of the pain, swelling, and even ingrown hair. To me, this is what anyone's first experience with a service so intimate should be like. After purchasing this gel, I became a regular at J&C skincare. I was very impressed with the organic products that they have to offer. I am generally a very shy and awkward individual, but Cynthia helped me feel comfortable from start to finish. She talked me through the process and explained why she would use the specific wax. Her knowledge helped me feel confident with the entire experience. During the actual waxing, she checks if the temperature of the wax is okay on my skin and even stops to ask how it is doing and if I need a moment. I am so happy to say that I found a salon worth going to for good. You get what you pay for and this salon, in my opinion, is one of the best experiences I have ever had with it's range of products and the services that Cynthia has helped me with. In addition to all of this, she was very kind to help write out the packages and how much I would save if I wanted to come back for many waxes. Without any hesitation, I purchased the package because I know that I will continue to come to J&C spa for good. Day of the appointment : I arrive on time, and ring the door bell (there's a sign clearly stating the door is locked for client privacy and ring doorbell to enter for appointment) a few minutes pass, I assume she's with another client who's time is running over - no answer .. I ring it again. No answer. I decided to call, it's 80° outside, no sign of the person doing the service, no audio back from the ring camera installed watching me stand there. No answer. Owner texts me back after I call and says that this is a text only line and asks if I want to make an appointment - I reply that I already have one for 12:15 and I'm outside. 8 minutes go by- no answer , so I replied again and asked for a refund and stated that this was very unprofessional. 12 minutes before she replies back!! (Look at the time stamps) and when she does she tells me she confused me with another client, reschedule the appointment with somebody who wasn't me, and essentially left for the day. Then proceeded to tell me she doesn't appreciate being called unprofessional. Well lady- I don't appreciate you BEING unprofessional. She tells me it's an error that's she's 7 years running etc etc... then sends me the screenshots of her conversation with the "other person"... with their phone number included - so client privacy is a zero. And to be honest- I didn't care at that point because my appointment was 15 minutes ago. (What I see here in addition to her not being there, was that she double booked the time and would've had to cancel on one of us regardless) She was argumentative and petty about the entire thing. I asked her for a refund 3 times in the thread, but she instead of professionally apologizing and doing so ... she just acted appalled like she wasted her time and was being called out of her name. She offered to reschedule, but why on earth would I want to sit in your space with you with your mentality of this situation? So again, I said a refund will do. With no empathy she tells me to contact Groupon. So yes, I will contact Groupon for my refund and share my feedback with Yelp and Google. Needless to say, I'll never go there again.
