Food was amazing for sure. Al pastor Burrito had actual pineapple in it. Most places don't which is a major blunder IMO. Chicken bowl was very good. The chicken was seasoned well. The guacamole was fresh as well. Churros were warm pillows of heaven. There were two to the order cut in half. Filled with Dulce de Deleche & plated with chocolate sauce on the bottom. Everything was fresh and hot. The woman behind the register was pleasant and accommodating. The tables were clean. The store itself was clean and well maintained. I'd come back in a flash. read more

This review is for their newest location in Waltham, MA. I've been hopeful for a new taqueria to open where there's ample parking and I'm not driving over 20 minutes just to get to the other side of Waltham for tacos. Their tacos are the best that I have had in the area and I've gone to at least half a dozen of local Mexican restaurants looking for tacos similar to ones I've had in Mexico. I love supporting family-owned businesses so this will definitely in my lunch and/or dinner rotation. I went here TWICE in 72 hours - lengua, al pastor, and chicken tacos plus flan dessert are all amazing! Their habanero hot sauce is definitely spicy so I would recommend my spice lovers to try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

Bought a drink and they never gave me it, came back and they refused to give me one. Okay food, service is a joke

Great food! Service is great and always good. Prices get high if u add in certain ingredients. I would recommend keeping you choice simple. Birria tacos were really yummy! read more

Monarca is easily one of the best Mexican restaurants around - arguably the best. The birria, al pastor, and tacos gobernador are standouts we come back for again and again. The kitchen appears to be proudly women-run, and the energy shows in both the food and the pace of service. One tip: be specific when you order. We've learned to clearly ask for meat and cheese only in a quesadilla (otherwise it may arrive looking more like a burrito), and to request salsas on the side if that's your preference. Once you know that, the experience is smooth with fast service and consistently delicious food. read more

After trying takeout from this place and loving it, we finally tried some fresh food here and it was even more amazing! The quality was very fresh and hot, and all the flavors were super on point. I found myself just drinking the consomé that came with the birria tacos I ordered at some point because it was so warm and comforting. It was just a flavor bomb and I was so here for it. The drinks here compliment the food perfectly and the churros were amazing. Inside the store was very cozy and all the orders are made fresh. I found the service to be friendly and quick considering how fresh the food was. We will be back again and I'm already thinking of what to order next. read more

Monarca Taqueria - Quesabirria(3) - Tacos Near Me - Milford, Massachusetts

We were excited to find a taco place with great reviews so we stopped in for lunch. Inside is small and simple. We ordered birria tacos, chips with salsa, guacamole and a steak burrito. The food is a bit expensive for what it is. $19.99 for 3 birria tacos. Almost $10 for some chips and a small amount of guacamole and salsa and the $15 burrito. First the disappointing part. The burrito rice was overly soft. It had a funny flavor. Definite miss. The salsa did not taste fresh and wasn't very good. The guac was under seasoned and like paste. Now the good. Service was friendly and quick. The Birria was delicious. Juicy and flavorful and although it was pricy it was memorable. I think you should give it a go for the birria but I would not go back. read more

You know, I will say every time I've ever eaten at this place. It is absolutely amazing and I love their presentation on the food. I love how they mix everything. And I just love their vibes there. I think it's an amazing place to eat and I need to bring my girlfriends with me. read more

Stopped in at this fast-casual taqueria after running a bunch of weekend errands. Didn't really know what to expect but ended up being delighted with the two birria tacos I ordered along with queso and chips. The restaurant doubles up on the warm, soft tortilla shells, which is perfect for dipping into that rich, deep, dark, sauce. (Yay! No soggy messes!) Loved that this taqueria is female-owned, sparkling clean, brightly lit, and has lots more menu options. Great stop any day of the week but I'm especially pleased that it recently expanded hours to include Sunday evening. Will definitely be back! read more

stopped in a few times now for lunch and ordered the quesabirria.m. crunchy on the outside with slow cooked meat on the inside with a dipping sauce. kinda incredible. the dipping sauce is like a thick stew soup made from red meat broth with lots of vegetable flavoring. horchata is good, i like it's not super sweet like some other establishments. same goes for the flan. read more

My recent experience with Monarca Taqueria in Milford, MA was, in a word, terrible. I placed a takeout order expecting flavorful, well-prepared Mexican food, but what I received was nothing short of a disaster. I ordered the birria tacos, which are supposed to be one of the restaurant's signature items. What arrived were soggy, unstructured tacos with a greasy, off-putting taste that not only failed to satisfy but left us feeling physically ill the following day. Food safety is non-negotiable, and what we experienced raises serious concerns. The tacos were swimming in oil, lacking the depth of flavor or the traditional richness that birria should have. The texture was mushy, the meat was stringy, and there was no evidence of quality control in the preparation. The accompanying consommé was equally uninspired salty, thin, and devoid of the slow-cooked complexity one expects. Worse yet, the portion sizes were laughable for the price point. Over $20 for three tacos and a few stale chips? That kind of pricing might be justifiable if the food was exceptional, but Monarca fails on every fronttaste, texture, presentation, and value. This is not elevated street food; it's reheated mediocrity in a paper container. We also ordered a burrito which was dry, flavorless, and fell apart the moment we unwrapped it. It seemed hastily thrown together with little care or seasoning, and the fillings were bland and overcooked. At no point did this meal resemble the vibrant, satisfying experience good Mexican food should provide. To say this was disappointing would be a gross understatement. Monarca Taqueria is charging premium prices for substandard food that not only lacks authenticity, but also basic execution. There are dozens of better options in the area offering superior food at more reasonable prices. After this experience, I can confidently say I will never order from here again--and I would strongly caution others against doing so. This is not simply a matter of preference; this is a matter of food quality and consumer respect. Monarca Taqueria has a long way to go if it wants to justify the hype--or the price tag. read more

I used to LOVE this place. I hadn't had it in over a year but went today. It was not good. The chicken tacos had no flavor and the steak taco were inedible, so chewy that I spit it out. Not sure I will come back. read more

Yes. I'm very much looking forward to returning. The food was great and service friendly.

I travel for work up in this area from time to time coming from Philadelphia and every time I come I always have to stop here. This place is fantastic. Authentic and delicious. At this point I have tried every taco and they are all spot on. I am always greeted with a warm smile and the general ambiance is very casual. Would highly recommend having some tacos here, you will be hooked. read more

Amazing food!! Ordered some burritos and tacos. My husband and son both commented that the burritos weren't soggy like places we have ordered from the past and they raved about how good they were. Definitely our new favorite place for Mexican. read more

This place was SO delicious. Why go to Chipotle or QDoba when you can experience authentic flavor like this from a non-Chain? Restaurant was clean and nobody else was eating in when we visited. Service was lovely-patient with us. My super picky kid ate his whole burrito-instant success & guaranteed repeat visit from me! I loved the burrito Birria (beef) & got the salsa verde. It was SO flavorful and the chef picked up a huge chunk of intact brisket and chopped & mixed it right in front of me-great quality. There's an upcharge for the guacamole...which I thought was worth it. We'll definitely be back! read more

I visited Monarca for lunch and ordered the quesabirria tacos. They were excellent! Great flavor, tender and well seasoned. Service was great also. I asked if they served birria tacos and she asked if I ever tried Quesabirria tacos..... I was not familiar so I took the suggestion. It was the best decision I made this week! Came out this way for work and stumbled into a gem! Amazing tacos. Hit the spot so good. Will be coming back next time I'm around for sure.

Excellent food, generous portions, perfect service. Lovely ladies working very hard. Return here whenever in the area.

Great fast food. I've been here a few times. It never disappoints. I usually get a bowl.

The quesabirria were sooo flavorful! The outside was crunchy but the outside was soft, melt in your mouth birria. It was wonderful and would go back again. read more

What a gem! The food is authentic and fantastic and the people who run it are delightful! Will be back!

The ambiance of the restaurant is like a self serve fast food joint. You walk into the door, there's a cashier and open kitchen but then you have to walk inside to look at the menu on the wall. The set up is a bit weird. Seatings set up also kind of strange. Feels a bit messy. Also, U have to walk or stand between ppls tables to see the menu. Tried the beef birria taco which came in three small street tacos, braised beef (not melted in your mouth, a little chewy), lots of diced onion and cilantro which I really appreciate! Kinda stingy on the salsa and sauce portion though. The taste of the beef is just ok. I can tell that it is slow cooked. But taste wise needs some more spice to it. Also had some chips and salsa, and a drink. Chips taste fresh, pretty good portion. Salsa is in a runny side. Green ones have a nice kick to it. As for the price wise, I don't think it was worth $24 for this lunch. Service is fast and the lady at the cashier is friendly. It's good to try it out but I probably wouldn't go back. Price is high and food isn't any better than Moe's. Plus Moe's give u a self serve salsa bar you can take as much sauce and salsa as you please. read more

Wow. We got lucky finding this spot. I love Mexican food and for me it's all about the refried beans. The refried beans were spot on, probably the best I have had in the northeast. It is very difficulty to find the same taste as refried beans from Mexico or Arizona. They also had a birra/quesadilla which my daughter had. It's a must try. My wife had the chorizo taco. The chorizo is excellent Mexican chorizo. read more

I hate giving a bad review but I have no choice because I would not have ordered from Monarca Taqueria if someone had taken the time to give an honest review even tho it was bad. The Chicken Burritos I ordered were awful tasted like pure salt as if someone had taken and dumped a salt shaker onto the burrito and the burrito was 90% white rice with dash literally of old dry chicken pieces (I counted two) a few beans and almost none of the pico and salsa's I requested. Literally a rice and salt burrito :-( I'm taking the time to write this to protect anyone in the future from having such a horrendous experience. There are many burrito places in Milford and neighboring towns far superior. Again sorry to have to say but its the truth just awful :-( read more

I wanted to try out this place. My friend and I were getting together and were trying to decide where to eat. I had told her about this place that I drive by on several of my travels. Decided to try it out and I was so impressed. I know my friend was also. I had a carne bowl and she had a small size quesadilla. It didn't look small. My bowl was so delicious and had so much left over I took it home. My friend ate all her quesadilla because she kept saying it was very good. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful to bring the food over to our table once we ordered at the counter. Would definitely come back. read more

Casual sit down/ take out spot that is unexpectedly scrumptious! So far I've gotten their chicken burrito and steak burrito. Both were so good; they are packed with an inch of their life so you will not leave hungry and the ingredients are so fresh! Can't wait to try the bowls next. Staff are super nice and you can order over the phone if you're trying to not pay the fees for ordering online. Highly recommend! read more
