I had a VERY BAD experience with a podiatrist prior to seeking out another and found Dr. Dini. She was kind, professional and most of all she LISTENED to me. The exact opposite of Dr. Mark Co who, not only did not listen, but overlooked the ingrown toenail on my left foot that, apparently I had for some time.
Dr. Co did not see it because he did NOT LOOK FOR IT BUT, grabbed my foot and proceeded to scrape the bottom of my feet very aggressively, not only hurting me badly but ignoring the reason I had gone to see him in the first place. When I managed to get a word in, I told him that even the slightest touch sent severe stabbing pains into my big toe on my left foot. He said, "probably an ingrown toenail" and continued scraping the bottom of my feet. When done, he rushed out of the room calling behind him, "Come back in 90 days"; still not looking to see what, if anything was causing the pain in my big toe. The pain he caused me lasted a month and, although frightened to do so, I went back thinking he would look at my big toe this time. No such luck. He did exactly as he had done on the first visit. Walked he and without a word, grabbed my foot and began scrapping it with his scalpel. I screamed at the pain and he ran out of the room saying, "Maybe someone else can help you!" He did not return. It took me another month to get up the courage to seek another podiatrist. To say I was scared is putting it mildlly but I forced myself to go dispite having severe pain in my back at the time.
The moment she walked in, Dr. Monara Dini said, "I see you have an ingrown toenail". The toe looked normal to me but she could tell immediately what the problem was from across the room. She was kind and listened to my tale of woe and suggested she operate right away but, I asked her to check my blood pressure first since, I knew from past experience that my blood pressure could complicate things, having had a stroke two years prior.
Rather than dismissing my concerns, she took my blood pressure and , as I suspected, it was through the roof due to anxiety and the back pain that had been bothering me for a couple of weeks. We waited a while for it to go down before proceeding with the surgery to remove the ingrown toenail. All went well and I'm on the mend. Dr. Dini is not just a fine doctor, she is a fine person. Everything a doctor should be. Kind, compasionate and caring. But the highest compliment I can give her is that SHE LISTENED. Something the other two doctors were incapable or unwilling to do. An unforetunate trait among many others. read more
