Great school for plumbers. The teachers keep the whole class on the same track. Nobody left behind. Wouldn't go anywhere else

The school is beautiful, the dorms are nice as well. Most teachers teach from a powerpoint and I…read morecan tell you I barely learned anything. President Alicia Harvey-Smith is a sketchy joke who fumbled the school. I wish I could get my money back, definitely not worth it. I was better off paying for a scenic apartment, thats pretty much what this place was anyways. Just an apartment with a dumb school nearby.

The teachers at PTC do not seems to be qualified to teach the course content they are assigned nor…read moredo they seem to understand how to use the learning management system Bright Space. For example, my son enjoyed his classes turned in all of his assignments, and was excited to be a student at PTC. Unfortunately he received an F in all of classes in the first quarter. However when I calculated his grade by hand he received 3 B's and 2 C's. I contacted the instructors to let them know about the discrepancies and they replied that the system automatically calculated the grades. Therein lies the problem. The instructor did not assign several assignment that were worth 12 points each but the system automatically calculated the points for those assignment resulting in lowering his grade from a C to an F. Additionally, PTC is deceptive about the qualification of the instructors. For example in the faculty profiles the critical thinking teacher is a male with 15 years of experience. However the critical thinking teacher for my son was a female and she was not included in the faculty profile page. Shady to say the least.

My class was 2019 to 2020, the year these reviews were made, and let me tell you, the staff does not/will not blind side you with the amount of workload that this course takes. From day 1, they say it will be tough, and if caring for animals was easy, literally everyone would do it. Most students dropped or failed because a good percentage did not do the work and were constantly on YouTube or tiktok at the back of the classroom. It was absolutely frustrating for the ones trying to pay attention. They didn't study and then blamed the staff. Me and a friend of mine offered help to struggling students to study in the NAVTA room, but many decided blaming the program or the staff was a better idea. The comment about hitting a dog, I'm going to clarify this real quick. I remember that day perfectly. We walk dogs outside the facility daily and encounter many people downtown Pittsburgh. Many of them have to put their 2 cents in about dogs. Most of the time, it's unwanted attention. There was a girl (dog walker) shaking and in tears about this and wanting to quit. No one was hitting dogs. Making false allegations and destroying someone psychologically is not going to make your day any better. People! We did not drown in student debt to hurt animals!! When I went to my externship, it was covid lockdown, so it wasn't my original facility. Everything that VTI taught me was utilized. Everything. They set their students up for success. Period. I wanted to know more because there ARE LIVES ON THE LINE. It's not about playing with kitties and puppies. It's their lives. Treat every patient as if their your own animal. Take this review for what it's worth, but it comes from the bottom of my heart, and I take this profession very seriously.

I had my lunch in my hand while waiting for my bus, while at the bus stop one of the vet tech students walks up with this dog while wearing air pods. The dog jumps right on me she doesn't say sorry or tell the dog to get down either. She couldn't even keep control of the dog the incident could have went way worse if I had of gotten bitten. Again I'm not speaking about the whole school just one individual in particular.
