Ordered Pad Thai online from the Dickson St location, it was charged to my credit card, but restaurant was closed when I went to pick it up. Called Orchard Plaza location and was told the Dickson St location isn't open Saturday mornings, it was 12:30pm and their website said they were open. Decided to order the Pad Thai from the Orchard Park location instead. Hostess was polite and food was ready in 15 minutes. The Pad Thai was lazy and uninspired, it was just rice noodles drowned in watery ketchup with some tofu, shrimp, eggs, a few bean sprouts and inch long pieces of green onion...no peanuts or lime on the side. I rate this place a 3.5 based on my visit yesterday. Checked out this place yesterday for the first time, the decor and ambience was very tired and dated looking. When we arrived I noticed there was only one other table that was just leaving. The menu is pretty extensive in comparison to other Thai restaurants, it's kinda overkill just because a lot of the dish descriptions seemed very similar. But maybe they're significantly different I don't know. Maybe a descriptive English name next to the Thai dish name would be helpful. Such as "Kaeng Khiao Wan - Green curry" We ordered veggie spring rolls, a curry dish with rice that I can't remember the name of, and pad Thai. The food itself was pretty good. Flavours were good. The service was okay/good. When we walked in, the server was on the phone at the front desk - which is totally fine but I think just mouthing hello or a hand gesture that says I'll be right with you would have been nice. When he got off the phone he just started walking towards the tables without saying anything which was a little awkward at first because I didn't see the menus he was holding and I didn't know he was taking us to a table until he turned around and saw we weren't following and then something to the effect of "right this way". The second young man we had was great, attentive, polite and made sure we had everything we needed and was prompt in filling our water. I noticed he was a good multi tasker, seating a table while packing our to go stuff and taking a tables orders and letting the people standing and waiting he would help them soon. I think with a interior makeover overhaul and some service re-training, this could be really great central city Thai restaurant. read more

Ordered: #29: Beef Pad Kee Mau #33: Pork Panang Curry - Thai iced coffee ($2.50!) - Thai fruit shake The iced coffee was 16 oz but cheap too! Sweet and strong. I got two because it was so cheap. The shake my gf got was basically a virgin daiquiri - my coffee was better! The panang curry was okay, I have had better; as with the other dish, it was good value but not an instant classic or anything. The food prep time for us was extremely fast (unlike the other review), and the owner gave us green tea complementary, a nice touch. At a median price of $13 / dish, this is a good budget pick that delivers within its price range. read more

Most disgusting Pad Thai I have ever had in life. I was craving pad Thai, and thought I'd try out Mon Thong because I had heard they had good Thai food. The pad Thai was like Heinz ketchup mixed with noodles with a bit of shrimp on top. Gag. My husband and I could not eat it, and asked if we could try another dish, since we felt the pad Thai to be inedible. They would not replace our entrees. I have heard they have good curries. Meh. I've experienced better....at a food court vendor, Thai Express. My girlfriends and I decided to come eat here as a last resort because we were craving Pho but nothing was opened. Boo-hoo, Kelowna problems. We waited excruciatingly long to get our orders taken (it was not busy whatsoever and there were about four people working, mind you). The server is terribly awkward and it made the entire experience awkward. He was so soft spoken that we repeatedly had to say, "pardon me?" Anyways, I ordered the number #31 which is a green curry with my choice of Beef/Chicken/Vege-Tofu/Shrimp/Squid and vegetables ($13.50). I chose the chicken. Also, take note that steamed rice is sold separately ($1.50), which is a completely foreign concept to me. How does one eat curry without some sort of carb? Ah, maybe it is my Asian-ization and how we eat rice with everything. The curry was okay, at best. It was sweeter than I would have liked it. It was not spicy at all, although it was indicated with 3 spicy peppers on the menu. The vegetables were still hard (peppers and cauliflower) and there was very little meat. Personally, I would not come back. It was just a disappointment all around. The service was slow. The food was not worth it. Usually, Thai cuisine is so rich, flavorful and satisfying. Have you seen those coupons for Mon Thong that are stuffed into the Capital News? The one we used today was for a free appetizer with purchase of two entrees. I thought that meant a free appetizer with purchase of two entrees, but no, the coupon was not honoured. In fact, it wasn't even recognized as valid! What! A couple of 70-somethings are so desperate that we manufacture Mon Thong coupons as a sideline? Please! We could have enjoyed a lovely Thai meal without appetizers, as we do at other Thai restaurants. We could have paid for appetizers. But instead, we became focused on the unjust, unethical, desperate business practice of offering a worthless coupon to lure customers. It spoiled our meal. Hey! There are a couple of better choices than bait-and-ditch: (1) Don't distribute coupons that won't be honoured. (2) Distribute coupons and honour them. A delicious meal with attentive service was ruined by sleazy business tactics. read more

The owner was amazing! So personable and friendly! We ordered Tom Kha Gha which was fantastically creamy! Then we had chicken pad Thai and a yellow curry with chicken and veggies. Everything was so delicious! The ONLY reason we didn't give 5 stars was because we asked for a large chicken pad Thai. Our order came and our server said "we gave you a double order". We were thrilled! Until the bill came and they charged us for two plates! $21 for a plate of pad Thai! It would have been nice had the server informed us that a large pad Thai means two orders and if we were ok with that. That's the only complaint! Like I said, food was amazing!!! read more

I got the vege green curry and thought it was delicious! Service was friendly and the food came out fast. Ended up being $16 as the rice is extra which is a little more expensive than I'm used to for this type of food (but the meat versions are priced the same which is reasonable). I love Thai food and this is definitely my official go-to in Kelowna! I've only been to their location on Cooper Road, but they have good service, large portions, and most importantly, the food is delicious. Their chicken satay has one of the best peanut sauces I've ever had; their pad thai has a wonderful home-made taste (none of that stock sauce making it an tell-tale red color); their curries are loaded with meat and potatoes/veggies. Finally, the owner is an adorable and incredibly friendly elderly man who makes your heart melt. If you haven't already, go and try this place! read more

Sometimes the service can be slow, depending on how busy it is, and they still haven't mastered the art of bringing everyone's food at the same time. It sometimes seems to come in stages.
