I spent one night here, it was a Thursday and I would probably try again on the weekends to see if there was more a crowd I'd enjoy . I booked 3 weeks in advance and luckily I did im sure they sell out on the weekends. I wanted suite 3 as it has a two person steam shower and a blue theme, but it was not available so I went with suite 1 with a red theme. Theres a 40$ towel deposit and a key deposit that you will get back at check out. The room has a ton of mirrors , literally everywhere. A nice big jacuzzi tub and a fun adventurous chair, mini fridge and sink in room . Bathroom was a little small but had a bidet and stand up shower. In the closet you will find other adventurous accessories. I took many pictures that will not make it here ahahahah. The pool requires a passcode to enter and when you first enter choose a bracelet if you want to identify your preferences. There are two hot tubs and a mini pool in the center, its hot in there so be prepared lol . All the TVS were on GREAT channels . Theres a dispensary across the street basically and probably a 20 minutes drive from the city if you were looking to go out a little , I went out for dinner and came back to quite a loud party . We spent a night for our anniversary getaway here. It was great fun. The rooms have this cool 70s porn look to them: lit up bubble columns, mirrors on the ceilings, shag carpet, jacuzzi, sex swing / sex machine. Let's be upfront here. If you don't know what Mon Chalet is, it's a swingers hotel and pool. You can go to one, the other, or both. I've taken a few newbies and I get asked the same questions. So let me answer them. Yes, there is sex going on everywhere. No, you do not have to participate. It is a bathing suit optional pool, but most people walk around the pool area naked. You may think it's going to be nervous-making. It's generally not. Everyone I've gone with has felt really comfortable and had a great time. Nobody will touch you without your permission and everyone is really polite. You can put on a rubber bracelet when you go in and that indicates who you would like to meet. You can get bracelets that mean anything from, "Everybody welcome" to "Leave me alone." That doesn't indicate who is allowed to touch you, it indicates who is allowed to ask to touch you. You will not be touched or hit on inappropriately. Yes, you can rent a towel, but you can also bring your own. There are lockers, though nobody locks them and most people seem to just keep their belonging on the pool chair that they are using. Yep, people just strip down right there at poolside. But if you want to disrobe or change in the bathroom, that's cool. And if you have any questions while you are there, it's perfectly acceptable to just ask. Now, on with the review... This is one of my favorite places in North America. I love the pool. Nothing like floating naked. Everybody is so nice. The other people who go there are fun and happy and accepting. Nobody is pushy. I visited Mon Chalet back in May. To preface this review, I'm a fairly reserved person and, if you had asked me a few years back if I'd ever visit a place like this, I probably would have said no. But times change. I don't think I'll ever be a swinger, but you don't necessarily have to be to visit Mon Chalet. Whether you're strictly monogamous or completely the opposite, you will find something to do here. How much will it cost, you ask? My companion and I stayed in Suite 8, a standard suite. We visited from noon to 4, which falls under the "matinee" rate - $65 for the afternoon, including a pool pass (which I believe is $40 if you purchase it by itself). There was a $5 refundable key deposit. The parking lot is gated, and all but three rooms are behind the gate. You pull into the parking lot before the gate right off of Colfax, go into the office to check in, and then they open the gate for you. We had a reservation, but it didn't seem too busy that Sunday afternoon. Both front desk clerks were pleasant, nonjudgmental, and ready to answer any questions. You can park right in front of your room, and the rooms open to the outside. Some people close the blinds and some don't. Who knows? If you're lucky enough to walk by a room where they left the blinds open, you might not even need the free XXX channels they have on the TV. The room was very clean, tidy, and neat. I actually thought that it was cleaner than some other, more expensive hotels I've stayed at. However, I'm of the opinion that if you're going around the room doing the white glove test, you're missing the point of being at Mon Chalet. There is a separate room right off the bedroom complete with red lighting and a "love machine," which is a kind of reclining chair contraption. There were mirrors everywhere but the floor (they're even lined with bubble lights - a little 70s but also fun). Let's just say being able to see yourselves from all angles thanks to these mirrors will lead to an experience that you won't soon forget - just trust me on this one. ;) Also, the bathroom featured a bidet, which I found interesting as it was my first time using one. Perhaps the most talked-about area at Mon Chalet is near the front of the hotel behind the gate. It's a swimming pool, but not just any swimming pool. It's clothing-optional, with a hot tub, a "play area" off to the side, and three huge screens showing adult movies. The foyer before the pool has the rules clearly displayed. You can also select various colored wristbands which indicate who you're looking to find - single females, single males, couples - or if you just want to be left alone. According to the website, single males are allowed at the pool in the afternoons without a room. I can vouch for the ratio skewing more heavily toward them in the afternoons, as I ventured into the pool area by myself when my partner had to take a lengthy phone call. I didn't spend much time here, but I felt respected and safe. Everyone that I encountered asked before touching and was very good-natured. I was even propositioned but politely declined, and the individual was understanding and didn't push further. However, as a woman I was definitely in the minority, and if I had been interested in non-monogamous or same-gender fun, my choices would have been limited to the plethora of single males rather than couples or other women. I'm told that since single males must purchase a room after 5 pm in order to access the pool, the mix of singles and couples is a little bit more even during those hours. My best advice? Just come to Mon Chalet and experience it, even if coming to a place like this isn't in the norm for you. It would be fun whether you're looking for a private, romantic getaway, to experience non-monogamy, or meet like-minded people if you're already a swinger. Have been here many times over the past 15 years. It used to be a nice, fun, retro 70s swingers style hotel, where the patrons were friendly, respectful and not rude or pushy. The place has always been clean and well kept, but it seems to be going "down hill" on our last few visits. Most recently, we paid $160 for the cheapest room. It was clean and what we expected. However, the bigger of the 2 hot tubs was not working, so we were stuck spending most of the evening in a cold pool. They used to keep the pool almost as warm as the hot tubs but are too cheap to heat it now. I was miffed they didn't tell me about the non-working hot tub when I called to confirm fhe reservation. They should have reduced the room rates because of this! The patrons that night, were rude and obnoxious, being very loud, talking trashy, and jumping in the pool to splash everyone like they were 12. It was also very nasty going from the pool to our room as all the smokers were in front of the rooms chain smoking. They should put the smokers in the extra building and not allow smoking on the sidewalk in front of the pool/rooms of the main building. We will not be going to the Mon Chalet for awhile if ever again. The area is safe (it's right by the medical campus) and the hotel is clean. It is becoming too costly, though, especially when the hot tubs don't work and the pool is always cold. The cigarette and other smoke, and loud, rude, patrons are a big turnoff. So, that gives you an idea of her limits. I thought she might think Mon Chalet was a little extreme, but would go along as a good sport. Instead, at the end of our one night stay, she stole the little advertising penlight with the name of the place on the side and put it in my bag. When I asked what this was about, she said, "I don't want you to forget the number in case you want to call them again." That's her version of "yah done good, dude. Real good." We had Suite 3 over night, which is one of the three on the south side (front) of the building. I selected this because it was out of the gate area and that means less "pool traffic" and more privacy. That was a good choice for our goal, because the place was packed on a Saturday night. So, if you were going to socialize, there are a lot of folks with whom to do so. Here's a few things to know from two discerning pairs of eyes (mine and my wife's). 1) The rooms really are clean. Surprisingly so. While I brought Lysol (I mean, of course you'd do that...) I was impressed at how clean the carpet, tub, shower, and bed were. I was especially impressed with the spotless mirrors (that are everywhere). I don't know who cleans this place but they do it with pride. 2) Don't worry about being messed with or excess noise. You can be just as involved in the swing side as you want or not at all. 3) The sex chair looks and sounds ridiculous but it is a great deal of fun. I'm a football player built guy and my wife is tiny. So she fit great and found it comfortable. I had to squeeze a bit. But honestly, one needs instructions for this and I couldn't find any, so you'll have to figure it out. 4) Terrific tub. Way better than the average whirlpool in a motel. Large enough for four, but we were only two. 5) I am sensitive to bad beds, especially too soft. This one was okay. 6) The lighting is really porny but let that go. It's also fun. My wife now wants me to build bubble walls in our home because she loved the sound they make. 7) We tried out the sex swing and just could not make it work. It seemed like it needed another link or two because she doesn't weigh a lot and you might want to bring some chain connectors from the hardware store to drop it a little closer to the bed if the swing rider is under 160 or so lbs. And btw, even the swing was clean. Believe me I checked. 8) Don't sweat the neighborhood. It is really gentrifying and one wonders if Mon Chalet can survive the increase in property value. It's been in a crap part of town for a long time and done well with a big iron gate at the entrance. But now there is new construction all around. If you come in from the East off the Interstate, the worst thing you'll pass is an old broken down SafeWay. There's now even a nice convenience store next to Mon Chalet and you grab some Gatorade and munchies before you get underway. We found that a good choice for the evening. 9) Do you like a sexy movie while you engage your partner? Bring your own. What Mon has is more laughable than hot. In fact I'd encourage them to get a subscription to several reputable online erotic movie sites and download a bunch of material. Today, quality matters and when everything else has been done well, the videos should be too. 10) Front office staff were lovely and kind. They know what you're there for and they want you to have a good time of it. They make that easy. I think Mon Chalet would be a fun place for couples ranging from the pretty vanilla (but open minded) to highly exploratory. I don't know for sure, but reserved a couple weeks in advance and think that would be wise. in the future, I might try one of the other rooms inside the gate if 1, 2, or 3 weren't available. They looked really nice and the whole area is nicely appointed. But I think I'd expect to have a slightly louder time as folks pass from the pool to their room (or someone else's) and you might feel more like you were "in the party."
