This is a post warning other families of the nightmare we have experienced at the hands of Cecilia…read moreSandlin, owner of Cece's Day Care, in the hopes that no other parent or child have to go through this...
My son started at Cece's Day Care last fall, after my mother became ill, and could no longer care for my child. At first, everything seemed great, she seemed loving, caring, and even had the kids make a poster for my mom who was battling an illness. I raved to other parents asking for referrals, even making a nice Yelp review at her request. (I have removed this). As he started her program, I started to notice my son's behavior change drastically. My sweet boy turned aggressive with his own family. ADHD runs in my family, and I sought therapy for what I thought was behavior stemming from a possible chemical imbalance earlier this spring, and other life stressors. What I found to be truth would be devastating. It started with my son coming home with multiple bite marks in his back, and being ashamed to tell me what happened. I had to ask Cecilia about it, and not once was notified. She let me know the next day that she would be speaking to the parents, but no incident report was taken. My son started begging me to not take him to school. Being a single mother, I thought he just missed being with me. I would pick up my child, and I would constantly see a new teacher, and at times could not even communicate with me. Cecilia would say she was inside the home, but no notice was given.
My son was gone for an out patient medical procedure, and had been away from her day care for a few days, and my child revealed to me that she had been spanking him, along with other physical and emotional abuse. To hear that from him broke my heart...This was someone we thought cared and loved my child. I made sure to make the appropriate reports, and although it came back unsubstantiated because it was hard to physically prove, even with my son's testimony--the PTSD and trauma he is going through at the hands of Cecilia will remain forever. We are not the first family to report her for hurting children, but I pray to God we are the last. I highly recommend looking at her licensing citations, and I have attached another review regarding her assaulting another child who attended her day care. There were several other red flags, and I should've listened to my instinct before.
By the grace of God, my son is just starting his journey to healing. Now that he is no longer there, and with a wonderful provider, I finally have my son back. His behavior has completely changed, and my once angry son, is smiling again. I am hoping one day he will feel safe and secure completely, and no longer be afraid of the world.
