On a week-long visit to Copenhagen, I went on a morning run in October 2021 to Amager Strandpark. I…read morehighly recommend it. Here's why: 1) Space: It's a beach with views of the industrial part of Copenhagen. During non-summer seasons, its less crowded and a great place to dog walk or run. 2) Design: There are two areas with restrooms and shops open during the winter. They are cement blocks, but with brutalist design. There are several restaurants nearby if you want to make a day of it!

A quick walk through a pleasant neighborhood, then a very short walk through the woods and a small park. There's a toilet at the bathing structure. Also, when we went, there was a snack bar. And there is also a parking lot. The structure is remarkably interesting -- a great place to take a high dive plunge or slip in and paddle around. The water was chilly but refreshing. It felt safe and convenient and was a wonderful slice of Danish life. Try the pleasant cafe just to the north.

Designed by White Arkitekter, it's a very nice building, all in wood. You can swin from it, sink from it, have sun. There are mainly teens in the "loop"but it's very funny to see them, talking, dredging, etc... Then, you can go there by metro or bicycle. There's a nice promenade all along the sea, in Amager Strandpark. It's magic !

The families tend to stay closest to the gated bathing areas (havnebadet), while the 20/30-somethings are in the middle near the "badebro" just after Kulturhuset. All areas are jam-packed on the warm summer afternoons, and by mid-August the ground is basically dirt and covered with cigarette buds, but it's still my all-time favorite place to spend a warm summer afternoon. Hourly dips in the canal (points for fanciest dives!) are an absolute must. Don't forget your beer, én-gangs-grill, and pølser, if you want the true Danish experience. Officially counting down the days until summer 2014.

Svanemøllen Strand is our local hangout - perfect for a dip, instant grill and a game of football. It is great to be able to bike somewhere to play in the sand and water with the kids.
