There is a great choice of food to select from the menu do both adults and children. It is all brought out together and if you need something changed then they will do it for you. The food comes looking fab and is hot/cooked well. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere great If near by def worth popping in

Whenever I have eaten there and there have been young children present, they have never been a problem. I have visited both in a small group of adults and with a large family group, and both times I have enjoyed my experience. Whoever you are, they will try their best to accommodate you. When we visited with a an elderly wheelchair bound relative, the staff rearranged the tables so that she could be easily manoeuvred through the restaurant. Of all the restaurants we have visited with her, The Fisherman was easily the most cooperative and considerate. The building is well presented, and the staff are polite and helpful. If you are looking for fine dining in a high class establishment, The Fisherman is not for you. If however you are looking for homely and warming environment, I would definitely recommend eating here.

Sure, they have 4 varieties of "real" ale (what the English call craft beer) on cask. I enjoyed a pint of each during the night of my visit; the Higson Stout and Vale V.P.A were both outstanding. As is the case with most village pubs, this is a locals place. They know when you aren't from the area, but are all very friendly. So are the dogs, who are welcome to come into the pub. But what sets the Pointer apart from most pubs is the food. You won't find the typical pub grub like Shepherd's pie or meat pasties. Rather, the elevated menu features dishes like Duck, Smoked Sausage & White Bean Terrine with Toast & Spiced Marrow Chutney or Monkfish with Saute Potatoes, Smoked Bacon & Mustard Cream. Ah, but the surprises continue. The Pointer also features an organic farm, where English Longhorn and rare heirloom pigs are raised. The majority of meat served is sourced from just down the street. This takes local to a whole new level. Across from the pub is the butchers where the bounty from the farm is prepared. You can buy their meat, charcuterie and freshly baked bread on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. This was a truly unique experience and I loved every bit of it.

We ate here by recommendation from family that had their Christmas meal here…read more They have a nice outside area like most UK pubs do where we started with a few drinks. After we were taken to our table which we previously made a reservation for. The food was very tasty but we felt a tad over priced for pub food. If you have been to many of the UK pubs you know most of the time the food is excellent at a good price. Now I'm not saying cheap but for three people in USD we spent +300.
