**LAST Geneva review**…read more One of the things I like the most about Geneva is that hanging out in parks is an everyday activity, kicking a football around, throwing frisbees, or just lazing around on a blanket with a picnic lunch. Granted, it is probably because there's very little else to do on weekends, but it is this forced sense of leisure that gives Geneva it's distinct romantic European feel. I'm not much of a nature person myself (I don't really like any of the elements, be it wind, sun, grass, or sand), but I do go out of my way to walk through this park on my way to the Old Village from Plainpalais. Parc des Bastions is a great respite from the city surrounding it. You don't just happen on it--the tall gated entrance that faces the Rath Museum provides a magnificent entryway into the wide promenade flanked on both sides by large expanses of grass, tall trees, and beautiful architecture. Just inside the entrance is the over-sized checker and chess boards that decorate the paved ground. You would expect tourists to be posing with the knee-high chess pieces, but instead, it's where the locals, young and old, play pick-up games with friends and strangers. As if it's the most normal thing in the world to be dragging enormous checker/chess pieces across a huge board with your feet. If you walk on a bit further, you'll find on your left a magnificent wall sculpture of the founding fathers of Geneva. Being much of a city girl, I've never really figured out what people do in parks. But despite my own inability to enjoy spending hours sitting around in the grass, I am going to miss watching other people who have mastered the art of un-bothered relaxation.

Yes, I usually stop at cafes and bars for my second-wind, but sometimes, I have to check out the serenity of the local parks. This park is redic. Just look at my pics and wish that you, too, had an opportunity to get tired from gadding around Switzerland and chillaxin at this park. Be like Louis R, travel to Switzerland.

After the first four hours they charge 2 CHF an hour, but that's essentially nothing. I took out a velo-ville (city bike) for three hours and had a really nice ride around Lake Geneva and the botanical gardens. There was a basket perfect for your bag or groceries, a lock and key for either holding your bag in the basket or locking it up on the street, and a bell to ding when pedestrians block your path. If you're looking for a cheap, fun, day outing in Geneva, I DEFINITELY recommend Genev'Roule!

Patinoire des Vernets... home of the Geneve-Servette Ice Hockey team!…read more Built in the late 50's this building is iconic for its design and fact it was the first Swiss indoor ice rink! It's capacity of 7200 is constantly filled by the avid fans of the ice hockey team, who come to cheer them on in the premier ice hockey league of Switzerland, the LNA. Home to not just ice hockey but also: karting on ice, disco skating, disney on ice and many other events! Also known by some fans as the "eagles nest"
What an amazing summer we had!…read more I'm a regular customer at GenevaBoats, as I spent at least 5-6 days with them this summer. We had an amazing time, the staff is amazing, it's top-tier service was delightful. They have an amazing fleet of boats for every occasion: We went fishing with a fully equipped boat, then water skiing with a specialised boat (and the skipper was actually an ex-swiss champion!), they showed us all of Geneva shores, the best spot to go swimming, etc... I can't be enthusiast enough about these guys: They are around 25 years old, always with a big smile and very polite! They can be really professional (they're Swiss), but they still took good care of the kids, helped us to take amazing pictures. The peak was probably in August when we rented a boat with them to see the famous Geneva firework from the lake: I was speechless! Hope these guys will have a good run, they deserve it! If you're looking for a good time in Geneva, it's a MUST!

Usually there is someone at the ticket booth to see you a ticket to enter, adult fee was 6CHF. I bought a ticket from the ticket machine and then you have to scan it and go through the turnstile to enter. Women enter via the ladies locker room, etc. When you go in, you will see that you are required to shower, with your swimsuit on, before you enter the pool area, then you must clean your feet as well with the shower things for your feet, they also include a disinfectant....for me this was fabulous since I have a real problem with European showering habits. It was the cleanest locker room/pool area I have ever been to. The pool has a big indoor pool , outdoor one and a kid pool as well. There are plenty of shady spots but the thing I found strange was the chairs, there were hardly any chairs for you to sit on so people had towels on the concrete which wasn't too comfortable. For a place that size, they need more chairs. It was pleasant and I must say today was a hot one in Geneva and it wasn't a zoo as I expected nor was it too crazy with screaming kids. They have locker rooms as well , however I think you need to bring your own lock.

I love horses and have ridden before but my boyfriend hadn't and was really surprised by how much he enjoyed it. The venue was perfect (about 45 minutes from Geneva) with really nice horses and it was great to get out in the countryside and make some new friends. Returning to the yard after the ride to a delicious BBQ was the perfect end to a really fun morning! Will definitely do again - maybe a day trip next time!
