Stan at Mojotronix amp repair is awesome. He did a great job on my 1967 Fender Showman very quickly and at great price. He repaired a ticking vibrato circuit, and got the noise out of the amp, as well as a general maintenance service, power tube change, bias, tension tube sockets and fixed some previously done bad soldering that someone else had done. Stan is the Man!! I brought my amp to a reputable tech to find an intermittent problem. He was very busy and had my amp for weeks before he was even able to look at it. I finally got it back only to find that it still had the same problem. Some months later I found Stan at Mojotronics. He took my amp and was able to look at it in a much more timely fashion. He could not initially find the problem but did not give up. His persistence paid off and he was able to find what appeared to be a cold solder joint. These are one of the most difficult problems to find because It can create an intermittent problem. Stan was able to fix it and charged me much less than the first tech. Stan Bailey came highly recommended by a co-worker of mine and I thought I'd give him a shot at repairing my amps. My friend and I brought two amps each to his shop. I brought him a Fender Blues Deluxe and a Phil Jones BG-150 bass amp. My friend brought his Fender Champ and an Ernie Ball amp, which had seen better days. When we picked up the amps they sounded fantastic and Stan had repaired all the glitches and annoying issues these four amps had (i.e. scratchy pots, noise and non-functioning gain pot, etc.). I brought a noisy Fender Pro Junior III to Stan in order to help me quiet the amp down and install an adjustable bias trim pot. We also went through my stash of NOS tubes to find the quietest and most closely matched sets (using Stan's high quality tube tester and our ears). Stan also re-laced the internal wiring of the Pro Jr. to help minimize the noise issues. Stan did the repair on the fly since I'd driven a fair distance to get there. What amp tech does that? He recently re-tubed it with a matched quartet of the New Sensor Reissue Mullard EL-34's (which sound incredible), found a loss of signal in the Phase Inverter (V3), and put in a perfectly-matched Mullard 12ax7. Tone Heaven! My Silver Jubilee has never put out such incredible tone like this. It sounds...divine! Stan is real & honest, yet a humble genius. I bought a used Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 50 off of Craigslist that ended up having some issues with the clean channel as well as general crackling sounds and other weirdness. The amp has 5 circuit boards and is not easy to fix but I called Stan and he said to bring it over. He let me know that he would call me when he found out what the problem was so there would be no surprises. He did just that, then fixed the amp for a reasonable price, I picked it up on time and it played better than a new amp. I feel really lucky to have an excellent amplifier tech close by. read more

Stan at Mojotronix is a real find. I took my Voodoo modified Peavey 5150 II to him to determine the cause of a volume swell that reared it's ugly head after leaving the amp on for a few minutes. One thing that I really appreciate about Stan is that he is clear about the $50 bench fee up-front. He also will come down his many stairs to the street parking in front of his house, and carry your amp up to the shop for you. I left the amp with him from 1.5 to 2 weeks and he couldn't get it to misbehave. The problem, as it turns out, was a cable ribbon cable connector that Voodoo never fully re-connected! Stan noticed it early on in the trouble-shooting process and just plugged it in. The amp has worked perfectly ever since. When I picked up the amp, Stan told me that the $50 bench fee could be applied to any future work that I may need done. What a guy!!! I will be taking all of my guitar amplifier to Stan at Mojotronix! read more

I've had Stan work on a few of my amps over the years and he's always been great. Recently I had him rewire a Bassman 50 head (circa 1972 or 1973) and install a Mercury Magnetics output transform. He drilled no holes so if I want to return the amp back to stock, it will be perfect. I also had him install a master voume, again with no drilling. This head now screams. For less than a third of a boutique amp I've got a handwired head that is creamy, loud, pure and loaded with sustain. To top it off, he worked extremely fast so I could have the rig for a gig. Do yourself a favor call Stan the next time you need amp upgrades or repair. read more

Hate to do this, I turned in a Peavey JSX to Stan and a month later he said it was a very complex amplifier and could not determine the source of a volume loss in channels 2 and 3. When I left the amplfier with Stan he said he was comfortable working on it and felt he could handle the repair. A month later he reurned my amplifier un-repaired and kept the $50 which he originally said was for parts to repair if needed but said that he would keep the $50 for time spent - I was ok with this until I got my amplifier home and found many loose screws, other screws and nuts replaced with non-original items and that the Noise Gate Knob was broken! This knob was in perfect working condition when I turned the amplifier in. Stan said that he noted the knob was funny and that it broke when He tried to work with it the only problem is I had to find this out when I got the amplifier home! Maybe Stan does better for Pro guitar players or on different occasions but this one really hurt and I felt compelled to leave bad feedback! I asked for my $50 back after the discovery of the broken knob because now I have something else to repair that was not there before - Either way this was the worst repair experience I have ever had on anything. I would not recommend Mojotronix for your amplifier repair - hopefully this post will keep him honest into the future for any one who wants to risk having him repair their amplifier. read more
