My husband and I really enjoyed this place. It's in our neighborhood and we've been wanting to try it for a while. So, tonight we finally went here for dinner. I was nervous about trying it because several reviews mentioned getting bad service. On the contrary, we got excellent service and thought the food was really good. The young man who waited on us was super friendly and charismatic, not qualities you tend to see in waitstaff these days. He joked around with my husband and was very attentive. I wish we had gotten his name because he was really great. I got the red enchiladas with chicken and my husband got the Texas burritos with steak and chicken. I really liked the enchiladas and they had a lot of flavor. The rice and beans were typical. They were ok but there wasn't anything special about them. My husband liked the chicken better than the steak because he thought the steak was a little dry. They gave us a ton of food. Rice, beans and a salad came with my dish. Rice and a salad also came with my husband's dish. We thought the salad was unnecessary and would maybe ask them not to include it next time. We didn't really eat our salads so it seemed kind of wasteful. We could have easily split one of our dishes and may do that next time. We got really full on the chips and salsa. Their salsa was excellent, by the way. It was a little spicy at first, but then the heat kept building up the more we ate it. The prices were very reasonable and you definitely get your money's worth. I love it when I can bring leftovers home to have it for lunch the next day. We did have about a half hour wait for our food but it was worth it. We really appreciated the great service we got. Our waiter was enthusiastic about doing his job and told us several times that it was a pleasure to serve us. Good service goes a long way for us. We'll definitely be back. read more

I went to a private party to celebrate a Quinceanera and we were in the private room but ordered off the menu. I was my first time and I was impressed with the menu options. I decided on the fried butterfly shrimp plate that came with salad, guacamole and rice. It was good although the shrimp was a little overcooked so it was a very dry plate, even when I dipped the shrimp in the sauce that came with the dish (I don't remember what kind of sauce it was). I asked for some lime and that helped add a little moisture. It was good but nothing to celebrate. However, those around me got some interesting plates that I would go back and try. The service was really attentive considering that our party had 12 people and only one server who was also serving a few other tables. It was a weekday so it wasn't super full, but it still must have been a lot of work for just one person. They allowed us to go early and decorate the room, as well as bring in a cake at no extra charge. The space comfortably holds up to 20 people and is right by the entrance so it's super convenient and made it easy to distance ourselves from the rest of the patrons. They also have an outdoor patio and the restaurant itself is pretty big. I look forward to going back and trying more dishes and drinks. I had the house margarita on the rocks and it was really good. Friend recommended we go there. I had read other reviews. Hoped it would be different. It was not. Service and management need training. They offer good food and drinks but actually getting them to the table or ordered was horrendous. Our server was nice and patient but hardly available. Also it was very loud and we could hardly talk as a table. Inevitably paired off to whoever was closest. If you want good food, go! But atmosphere and service are why rating is so low. read more

The food here is some of the best Mexican food that I have had around Des Moines area but I took off a star because the service was not good. I have no idea where our waiter was half of the time. There was another waiter just sitting at a booth a couple tables away and he would get up every now and then to check his tables. We got zero drink refills and zero chip refills. I kind of wondered if it was quite a walk to the drink station because he had gone down a long hallway to get the drinks. The chips and salsa were on point! The basket of chips and dish of salsa were small, hence the reason I was sad about no refills. My son had steak fajitas and it was probably enough to feed at least 2 people. The rice and guacamole were really good too. I had the birria soup and tacos..amazing! Also I did not see it posted but there is an upcharge to pay with credit card and it seemed pretty high compared to other restaurants. Will never come back here again. As soon as I entered through the door 4 workers looked at me and ignored me. Didn't ask if I needed any assistance. Made me look like an idiot just standing there. After few minutes of walking around and looking for where the cash register, finally saw it after chasing down a register who was fiddling with her personal phone. Was told waiting time was 25 minutes, but was more like 40 minutes. Drove him with the food. I didn't bother to check the food at the time based on good faith and had soup in the bag and didn't want to un bag it. Found out that I only got half of the food that I ordered. I wish I was making a review about the food that I never received waiting almost 20 mins for someone to just greet the table after my husband had to go get someone just to take our order and other 20 mins of still not food and drinks we order, after I had to hunt someone down to just get some water and utensils, after being ignored and having to chase down the waitress twice our own, we shouldn't have to ask for someone not to ignore our table, when I've watch 5 other tables being care for after we had already been seated, have there food and drinks, after 45 mins we decided to leave, I would of waited to tell the waitress but she never came back. read more

We've enjoyed going to Mojito's since they opened, but recently we have been disappointed, as the service and quality has been declining. The biggest problem with our last visit was cleanliness; the menus were DISGUSTING. They should be cleaning these plastic menus every single day, but mine was so gross it even SMELLED like hot garbage. The second problem was their refried beans. Their chef apparently is really into Fall Flavors, because the beans were orange and tested like some weird fall spice mix. It wasn't just the refried beans they put on your plate as a side, these were also INSIDE THE BURRITO. How do you take something as basic and refried beans and decide to add an extremely unusual spice to it and then serve it in EVERYTHING rather than as an option? We like(d) this place, their margarita's are huge and really good, their carnitas are great, but we are not going back for a few months after this. If we try them again in a few months and they have not substantially improved their cleanliness and returned to normal refried beans, we will not ever go back again. read more

If I could give this place SIX STARS, I would. The Chori Pollo dish here is one of the best dishes I have EVER tasted. I liked it so much, I ate here on a Tuesday and came back again on Friday for the exact same dish. The Chori Queso is also to die for. If you haven't been here yet, you need to get here ASAP. There is always some issue with their to go orders, but this time was really really bad. They forgot a salad and salsa. We ordered two dips and got the tiniest bag of chips. They put a chicken breast, pork chop, steak, pineapple, rice, beans, pico and lettuce in one container so obviously there wasn't much of any one thing. The best birria from a restaurant I've found so far in the metro!!! So good I ordered twice in the same week. I've had birria from a few other recommended locations but seriously nothing compares. I ordered delivery and everything arrived hot. With the soup you get 3 tacos. I ordered mine no cilantro no raw onion. I added some of their salsa and a light squeeze of the lime before devouring! The tortilla remains crisp and can withstand dunks in the flavorful broth! Plenty of meat in the soup itself as well. Can't wait to try some of their other menu items. read more

it's my first time at this restaurant and I came with someone who spoke Spanish. Due to that fact, they never spoke directly to me or even acknowledged me in English I ended up having to ask the man do you speak English because I wanted to order my food but they kept speaking to my friend as though it was my fault that I didn't speak Spanish in an English speaking area. The bartender is it up recommending a drink that cost $16, it was more than my entree. this was a horrible experience and I will never spend my hard earned American money there again. read more

I had a very positive experience at this place. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. Wait staff could have checked on us more but overall it was good. Seems to busier later than normal so this would be a great place to stop before 7pm for a nice dinner. We definitely did not leave hungry and the drinks had some kick. Mojitos has good tasting food. No argument there. I'm rating them a one star because they could use A LOT of organization. We pre-ordered our meal so pickup would be as easy as possible. I arrived at the time of my pickup order (6pm) and it was a struggle from there. Mojitos having a host/hostess desk would go a long way. Adding 1 employee would've potentially helped my experience. People picking up to go orders and people just waiting to be seated was a complete cluster. I had to force read my order to make sure someone on staff gave me some sort of acknowledgement. At some point they even took my phone to the kitchen to show my order (I assume to the cooks). After an hour of waiting, I receive some food but all of the food was wrong. Not one item we ordered was in my hand even after I read out the order to confirm with the elderly man. It was a horrible experience and I'm still trying to understand how a pre-ordered meal would have me stay at the restaurant for over an hour. I was there from 6pm to 7:15pm and no one offered free drinks or anything to try and make up for my very long wait time. Very poor experience and very low tier customer service. read more

The chips and salsa were good, but our waitress only brought one little salsa for four people to share. It was very hard to ever get her back to the table to ask for more salsa, and when we did she only brought one more small dish. These dishes are the typical dish that they bring salsa in, but most restaurants bring you more than one, or some restaurants give everyone their own. When we ordered queso for an app, the queso came out in the same little dish, so definitely not worth the money. I have never bought queso and had it come in such a small dish. My shrimp fajitas came out with half the shrimp still having the shell on including tail, legs and head! I don't want to clean my shrimp before I eat them when I'm ordering fajitas. I could have just ate around those shrimp, but I found just a shrimp head in my food and other little parts of shell throughout, and the shrimp had a weird flavor as well. FYI, the waitress said this is how they serve their shrimp fajitas, but she did take them off the bill, which was nice if her as I never asked for thar. My daughter ordered a bean burrito, which they didn't have on the menu, but we have been to other places and they have managed to make one for her. This burrito came out like they opened up a can of refried beans and put the whole can in there and wrapped it up without warming it or anything. It was just a hard block of beans. It's difficult to complain too much about that since it technically wasn't on their menu, but I still think they could have done a better job. It was just disgusting.
