My wife and I had a nice, relaxing stay at the Mojave Resort. The place has a cute, mid century vibe and the pool area was great for lounging. If you like small, quiet places, then the Mojave Resort is a perfect spot. We spent all day reading by the pool, for a relaxing, desert getaway. It's just a block away from the El Paseo shopping area, with lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hubs and I went here for a mid week getaway to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! This place was so CUTE! That's the best way to describe it. Vintage and very well maintained! When we checked in it was very easy we were offered a complimentary adult beverage and we checked right in! The pool was salt water so there was no chlorine smell! Our room was clean and very comfortable. Service was on point. I only wish we would have stayed another night so we could have had two full pool days! We will definitely be back. read more

We booked this hotel for a girls weekend and I was a little weary. We previously stayed at The Paseo (hotel right across the street) and I was nervous about the price difference! But... it was amazing. Very boutiquey vibes and much different than The Paseo but not in a bad way. Loved the free parking, welcome drinks, and little breakfast cooler delivered in the morning. Al was the gentlemen that we saw most over the weekend and you can tell he really cared about this location! Told us some history about it and was more than helpful. read more

I am currently staying at the hotel and have encountered a significant issue with large cockroaches in my room. It's 8:45 PM, and despite calling and visiting the front desk, there is no staff available to assist me, as the office seems to have closed early. Unfortunately, this leaves me in a difficult position, as I'll likely need to find alternative accommodations for the night. I'm disappointed by the lack of assistance and presence of staff on the property. I could not find one person on site. Based on this experience, it is unlikely I would choose to stay here again. A hotel stay should be clean, comfortable, and service-oriented. I hope they will address this matter urgently. They're literally crawling up my wall! read more

The property is small and super cute, and is located near many food and shopping establishments. The staff was kind and friendly and the rooms and pool were well kept. The vibes were calm and quiet which was exactly what we were looking for. The only real downside was that the tvs didn't have Netflix and they didn't have an empty fridge (just a fully stocked mini fridge for purchase). read more

My friends and I have an annual trip every year to come to this quaint little resort nearby to all the shops and restaurants and do a resort takeover (we literally rent out all the rooms). This is one of the small boutique places you can actually do without breaking the bank and we love it. The staff are so accommodating and friendly that we wouldn't even think to go anywhere else. The resort recently upgraded their rooms so no more kitchenettes (bummer!) but there are still spacious rooms, good lighting, floor length mirrors, Nepresso coffee makers and comfortable beds. The resort rooms circle around the outdoor pool and fire pit areas which are great for entertaining friends. There's plenty of seating and lounge chairs available and it's a great vibe to rest and relax. If you're into shopping and dining, it's a quick walk from the resort to Paseo. You can also take one of their many bicycles on property too. If you long for a fun drive, the Mojave is a great place to start as you head down highway 74. From there you can hit Julian (they have great pies), Idyllwild (great dining spots) or the one of a kind Garage 79 off Highway 79. By the time you get back to the Mojave you'll either want to jump in the pool or cozy up fireside. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! read more

Work took me to Palm Desert, and based upon my wonderful stay at the Mojave Resort, I hope to return soon for a longer trip. The historic mid century modern motel has re-opened after renovation and is immaculate. The motel is located in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood, close to Palm Desert's high end shops. The decor is pleasing without being over the top, and after viewing some of the similar motels in the area, I especially appreciated the tasteful continuity of design elements, with modernized "vintage" elements to provide a top notch experience. I arrived after hours and was pleased to check into a room with gentle lighting and AC ready to go. It was incredibly quiet. The bed was shockingly comfortable and the pillows were luxurious. All the linens were high quality and I especially liked the cotton towels. The bathroom area had a large closet, and I very much appreciated the lovely coffee maker. The credenza and fridge were stocked with for purchase snack and beverage options. Breakfast delivery can be at either 8 or 9 (you choose), and the fare is simple and light. My traveler's stomach was pleased with the options! The morning was lovely, I wandered out to check out the courtyard in the daylight, and was immediately bummed I didn't have a swimsuit with me. If you are looking for unique and restful experience, with motel staff who go the absolute extra mile and are effortlessly friendly, I highly recommend the Mojave Resort. Next time I come back for work, I hope they will have openings. I also showed my boss the motel while there and he is thinking about whether we could use it for a work team meeting! read more

Me and my fiancée stayed there over the weekend weekend and it was absolutely wonderful. It's very retro 1960's vibes. It's a beautiful small property adults only resort. The room was elegant and beautiful. They have complimentary happy hour in the front office from 5-7. They also have beach cruiser bikes to rent complimentary as well. They have a lovely pool and jacuzzi all the rooms are poolside. The employees were very kind and hospitable the only comment I would have is that the tub had no rubber mats and I brought it to the front desks attention and he said they were available upon request. But other than that we will definitely be back to this beautiful resort. read more

We stayed at Mojave Resort at the end of March while visiting LaQuinta for a friend's wedding. We were SO IMPRESSED. First of all, it was a value priced room, but didn't feel like it. It had a cool retro vibe, but was super quiet, comfy, and had lots of nice amenities. Did I mention we were impressed?!? The bed was luxuriously soft and cozy, the room had a kitchenette complete with mini-stove, mini fridge, coffee maker, even a toaster! This resort has classic bungalow style and old Hollywood charm, and with only 24 rooms, gave it an almost private -resort-like feel. Each room has it's own little patio, too. The hot tub & pool were spotless and we didn't see many other guests there, so again, it almost felt like it was "ours". The grounds were IMMACULATELY maintained. The street along the resort was quiet, as it was off the main street, you didn't get any thru traffic and thus, no road noise interruptions - so a blissful night's sleep! The gentleman at the front desk was wonderful - friendly and personable. Also, there was controlled entry after hours, so it felt safe and secure. IMPRESSED! BONUS - This resort is an easy, short walk to the Shops at El Paseo! This is like the Rodeo Drive of LaQuinta. High end shops like Tiffany & Co, Louis Vuitton, Saks, Fendi, Tommy Bahama, art & jewelers and ALL the dining options with bomb Happy Hours almost everywhere. Actually, I'd say it's posh like Rodeo Dr. meets South Beach Miami. If we found ourselves in this area of the Palm Desert again, we'd definitely stay at the Mojave Resort again! A girls trip for a weekend in January started with a welcome drink, and shortly after a sunrise salute. Anthony was super attentive and let the fire pits for us as we had great conversation and drinks. The rooms were clean and cozy and near the pool and outdoor seating area.. There were bikes to use and a Jacuzzi pool were heated with plenty of towels available.. the ice machine worked like a gem and a perfect breakfast starter was outside the door on the table each morning. Housekeeping was great supplied clean towels and tidying up the room each day. It's a great location for dinner and shopping and the staff is terrific.! read more

The rooms are crazy great.. beds were beyond heaven with coffee and fully stocked bar. It was super spacious. I stay all over the world and I can't say enough about this place . My goodness the perfect desert escape. I'm so glad they reopened and put in so much effort into the experience. The design is so cute and everything was so clean and accessible. All of the employees were beyond helpful and went the extra mile into making our stay great. We had a teeny tiny bachelorette party and i couldn't have asked for a better location. The pool is phenomenal and everything is so private. Also it's so walkable (beyond the heat)...2 minutes to wilma and freida's poptarts? Have been going there for 20 years and always enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere around the pool. Have not been there since it was renovated last year but now it's adults only so that means we can't go as a family as we always have. Management are amazing and always helpful though and hopefully we get to see the renovations sometime soon in the future. Walk down the street to Paseo shops and restaurants. Great area! read more

Whenever I arrive to a place I will be using for accommodations, I ALWAYS do a room sweep to ensure my safety. After arriving at the Mojave Resort I immediately knew I will never be staying at this establishment again. Here are the reasons why: 1: The first thing I noticed when I walked in was a stain on the curtain that's supposed provide you privacy from other guests in courtyard. 2: parallel to the bedroom entrance from the courtyard there is a storm door that leads to an open alley. all other tenants have access to this same alley. There is absolutely no boundaries to stop any of the tenants from going to each others storm door. *** 3: on the same wall of the storm door there is a mirror that hangs inside the room, facing the bedroom. I started to check the mirror to see if there was any abnormalities. After inspecting I found a hole behind the mirror, it had electrical wiring exposed (thankfully there was nothing installed) this hole/wiring has access from the alley under a switch plate cover. Refer to the video attached. The rest of these I forgot to take pictures or videos of. I was too focused on just checking the room at this point since there was so much I found. 4: the bathroom + kitchenette sink were leaking. 5: kitchenette window had a screen that was to small for the window. 6: window locks were worn and easy to unlock with the slightest push. 7: both of the mattresses sag offering no support. 8: box springs under both mattress looked like they were falling apart. I am surprised that I didn't see any other reviews with a similar experience when looking into this resort. Please, always do a room sweep whenever staying at a location. Even if you've stayed at the location before, even if you didn't see any red flags in the reviews, even if you think nothing will happen to you. Always check your surroundings. ***it's also pitch black in the alley once night falls. The only light source you have is a porch light next to your storm door, to no surprise, mine did not work lol read more

Considered a throw back to the styling of classic Hollywood of the early 20th century, this hotel is the perfect weekend getaway for both locals and tourists alike. I was looking for a weekend away from the distractions of city life and came by this hotel by chance on Groupon. I carefully researched it and after a few moments of consideration booked a room. Arriving to this hotel after the sunset just added more nuance than I expected. I pulled up to this low profile hotel and was immediately enamored by the quaintness of it. The hotel office is a simple glass office with orange trimming that is found everywhere throughout the 24 room complex. Stepping into the office was a time warp, as if I stepped into an office off Route 66 back in its hay-day. The counter clerk was very pleasant and without more than a few minutes I was given my key (an actual key with large orange keychain to match the hotel colors) and set off to my room. Exterior: 5 stars One of the things you notice immediately is how cozy everything feels. All the rooms face inward towards the interior of a courtyard that holds orange trees, a tiny brook and stream, and a classic pool with jacuzzi that screams sunbathing Marilyn Monroe and James Dean parties. As I stepped closer to my room I noticed the outside of my room had two patio chairs in the same orange color as the trim of the hotel and the walls facing the courtyard were all windows. This made the hotel feel even cozier, with each room a part of a larger community. Interior: 5 stars As I inserted my keys and opened the door to my hotel, I immediately gushed at the interior. Not only was the room spacious but it screamed with personality. On the left of the entrance laid a kitchenette with a tiny stove and oven, wall shelves to put dishware, a tiny sink and counter to make coffee (with coffee maker and coffee bags included), and a mini fridge for your late night snacks. To the right were two chairs and a coffee table in between. The fabric looked as though it was made of a brown twill and once you sat in one you knew immediately this chair contained the trappings of instant slumber. They were some of the most comfortable chairs I've had the pleasure of sitting on and I knew if the bed was a disappointment I had somewhere else to sleep. Luckily, I wouldn't have to go to that extreme because the bed was AMAZING! I ordered the deluxe king bed and it was not only soft but firm enough to cradle me to a comfortable sleep. It was so big I could've swam within the white linen fabrics. It was great to have so much open space to stretch and lay out and when I was in the room, that was the spot I pretty much occupied indefinitely. A dresser is found directly across from the bed with flat screen on top. The lighting was patterned again to fit that retro style and it absolutely helped add personality to the room. To the right of the dresser and TV was the entrance to the restroom. The restroom contained a large open space for you to hang clothes, a sink with wide counter space, and the opening of the toilet and standing shower area. The shower area was great because it was just dark enough where you could brood if need be like a method actor but also warm enough to steam up the windows with your lover. On top of that, the toiletries provided are perhaps some of the best I've ever used. I actually enjoyed using the shampoo and body wash AND they smelled great and worked well. How often do you hear that from a hotel?! As I awoke the next morning, I found myself walking outside to the front yard and seeing the sun shine brightly and illuminating the supple oranges from the emerald green leaves, and the sapphire soaked pool welcoming a warm day. I walked over near the office to enjoy the complimentary continental breakfast which I took back to bed and enjoyed until I had to check out at 11 AM. Conclusion Although Palm Desert isn't my idea of a vacation destination, Mojave Resort was all that I wanted and all that I never knew I could have. It is hands down one of the best hotels I've ever visited. Though it might not be modern or have as high a production as the flashy hotels of Vegas and New York, Mojave Resort has the history and quaintness that makes it instantly lovable. You'll find yourself leaving your heart here so you can return back to it again. I will come back here again and again. read more

Authentic old school palm desert resort. The finishings were super mid century modern. The room was nice but dated. It had a nice courtyard with a pool and the pool was great. The location was amazing just two blocks from the mall Gardens on el paseo. We walked to Starbucks, a great French restaurant, and plenty of shopping. The hotel was inexpensive for the area and a great value. Not super flashy and nice like some of the ones nearby at 2-4 times the cost but basic, simple and great for a family. We were in town for a wedding and were happy to save a little cash and stay here with so many amenities nearby vs pay a ton more to stay at one of the nearby resorts that didn't have anything to walk to. read more

I was so impressed with this place!! I got a groupon deal which came out to be ~$135 for the weekend. I wasn't expecting much for such a great price. Check in was quick and easy, there are 2 room keys available for each room. There's only about 20 rooms available, but the setup was cute, with the front of the rooms circling the pool/grass area. The pool has a shallow area and gets as deep as 8 feet. I saw some families bring floaties and toys for the water, which is a great idea if you have toddlers or children with you Palm desert is hotttt. But when my bf and I walked into our room, the a/c was already on for us, helping us feel instantly at home. There was a kitchenette area with 4 stoves. There also a closet area that was in a separate room. The room had an ironing board, 2 ropes, and plenty of fresh towels. The curtains were thick to keep out the sun, and the walls seemed pretty thick as well since we slept without hearing a sound. This place has QUALITY over quantity. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smelling great and actually was effective in cleansing myself with. The continental breakfast in the morning was delicious! They offered name brand cereal, bagels, Philadelphia cream cheese, bananas, yoplait yogurt, and Danishes. Orange juice too! I had such a lovely time at the Mojave resort. Definitely a great, peaceful getaway for the weekend. Cute restaurants are available nearby, and the Palm Springs aerial tramway is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel. Happened across Mojave Resort during a Groupon search prior to s SoCal visit in October, 2015. Took the plunge on a whim. Lovely little hotel...kind of kitschy, kind of mid-century modern, kind of nostalgic, kind of odd. Very clean rooms & nice pool/grounds...probably a stretch to call it a 'resort', more of a unique updated '50s motel to modern standards. Friendly front desk staff. Very quiet neighborhood. Super accessible (walking distance) to El Paseo restaurants, shopping, amenities. Nothing remarkable (the 'continental' breakfast was nice but not much more than juice, coffee, and plastic wrapped pastries and yogurt), but I enjoyed it enough to stay an unplanned second night. If for some reason you're in Palm Desert and want a quiet night, this is a good place for it! It fit the bill for me and I would definitely return. Keep your expectations in line! *TIP: If you plan to arrive late, call ahead! The office closes around 9pm but they will leave a key out for you. read more

We've stayed at the Mojave consistently over the last 4 years for A large music festival...pick either one...you know. We are a working crew and we account for at least 1/2 of the rooms for this weekend. I'm extremely disappointed in our last stay. Here are my reasons why... 1) They instituted a 4 night minimum this year... the festival is ONLY 3 nights..:/ 2) The rooms are getting really run down. Dirty carpets and a cigarette burn in our room 3) lumpy as hell mattress. 4) We had a situation where we needed to return to home and they insisted on charging us for nights unused.. I know this doesn't apply to MOST..but we are a working crew.. stuff happens..and to be so inflexible after years of filling this place pisses me off. read more

In a neighborhood area, walking distance to El Paseo (shops, restaurants, art galleries) This place was very clean. A must for me. Under anyone else's care, this motel would probably just look like any other old hotel. But it definitely never felt like a run-down joint. Another reviewer (maybe on TripAdvisor) said the A/C was annoying loud. Ours was more like a mellow white noise but that thing cranked. I could've set it anywhere from a simulated cool desert breeze to pseudo-antarctic chills. The most important part about the A/C is that when you want/need it to work, it does and it can crank. The pool was always clean. So was the poolside furniture. We only stayed one night so I can't say how the turndown service was. But we needed a few things off and on (more tools, wine opener, etc) and we were always helped out right away and with a smile. Mash was awesome and extremely friendly. Everytime we came in or out of the hotel there was someone at the front desk/office. It made my wife feel even safer knowing there was always someone at the front gate. It wasn't a rough area or anything. It was a very nice area actually. But whatever helps my baby sleep at night is worth jotting down for y'all. Also, free breakfast was nice. Took it out by the pool. Fresh coffee, bagels and cream cheese, yogurt, cereal. All good. All in all, had a great time. We would love to come back here with friends. P.S. Just spent Saturday nite here on drive back from Phoenix. All. I wanted was a clean room and a lounge chair by a quiet pool! Ok some cocktails were involved. BINGO -I got that. Mohave is an adorable motel which harkens back to the 1950's. One story with rooms all looking onto the central pool. If anyone looks at the pictures on Yelp will know this is not a large glam resort, but was perfect for us! It is located a block off of the Upscale El Paseo area in Palm Desert. We walked to dinner at Mamma Gina's for a wonderful meal. The complimentary breakfast was a bit slim, but loved the coffee. Would definitely come back! read more

Things appear to be old and that is to keep the mid century look. If you are a " Princess" and need a five star hotel, then go and stay at the Hyatt or Hotel of its kind. Stupid people give bad reviews because they are ignorant and have no clue. A dead bee is not a big deal......... So we are here! Nice place and not disappointed at all. Room is nice and comfortable. Spent New Years Eve with the family here. Really lovely and quaint. The decor is attractive and fun. The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. The pool is warm and the hot tub is hot, really hot - which I think is the way it's supposed to be. However, like other reviewers have stated, the continental breakfast could be better. That said, there are tons of places to get breakfast nearby, many within walking distance, and this would in no way inhibit a return. In fact we will definitely be going back! read more
