I recommend More Music to everyone I know in the area who needs a set up or a routine repair that they can't do on their own. I hope this spot is able to stick around for many years!

The people all seemed to be in a good mood and were very helpful. I brought my guitar the first few times and realized I really didn't need to. They are provided if you like. I was a little hesitant to try the loaners at first thinking they must be really poor quality. Turns out they are more than okay for me so I was pleasantly surprised! I would be remiss if I didn't mention my instructor, Summer. She always seems to be in a great mood and continually keeps me motivated by providing positive feedback. Bottom line, if you're thinking of learning a musical instrument head on down! I'm sure this is the place for you.

I've had plenty of basic setups before, but this felt like a whole different level of attention and care. He walked me through what makes his Rockstar Setup different and you can tell it's not just a quick adjustment, it's a full dial-in of the instrument. When I got my guitar back it played incredibly smooth, stayed in tune better, and just felt more responsive overall. Anything and everything that could be oiled or lubricated was taken care of. The amount of work and detail that goes into the rockstar set up actually takes a few days and I guess depending on the condition of your guitar the longer it takes. My guitar had a lot of rust on the bridge and tuning keys. One of the saddles was even frozen in place and I couldn't get the string out. Steve took care of it. I didn't even notice how bad the condition of the guitar was in until I saw all of the photos Steve took. (Before and after). Who does that? It's hard to describe, but it actually made me want to pick it up and play more. Everything felt tighter and more precise without sacrificing comfort. The smell of the oil on the bridge and the lemon oil on the neck actually smell good too! You can tell Steve takes pride in going beyond the standard setup and really bringing out the best in the guitar. If you're on the fence about upgrading from a regular setup I'd definitely recommend going for it. I'll be sticking with the Rockstar Setup from now on.

My boyfriend had P90s installed in his Les Paul and needed it back in time for a gig, and Steve delivered! On my BC Rich he dialed everything in perfectly the intonation is spot on! the action feels just right, and the neck adjustment made a huge difference in how it plays. It's not easy to find someone who works this fast and still pays attention to all the details, but Steve definitely does. Steve has worked on two bass guitars & my beloved Guild D55 making them not only shine like new but even improved playability! Can't wait to get my other guitars into his skilled hands. Another BIG positive with Steve that's worth mentioning, is despite being an accomplished, total pro ... he's a super nice, down-to-earth, no nonsense kind of guy; you won't get any of that condescending, ego tripping attitude. From my perspective, that's golden in itself. Bottom line: if you've been looking for someone with superior skills and workmanship chops to keep your guitars in awesome shape, your search is over. Steve's definitely your guy.

Our daughter was about 18 months at the time, and I would say that overall, she really liked it! It's a bit on the pricey side, honestly, but if your kiddo isn't normally exposed to live music or musical instruments, I would definitely check it out. Bill is a true musician/artist, through and through, and opens up the rest of the rooms after the class for your kiddos to explore. you don't have to worry about "oh no, what if my kid touches something??" Bill welcomes kids to explore and play --- incredibly inviting environment. Julie did a wonderful job creating a sense of community in the class. she has an amazing voice, and engaged us in some fun songs. After some songs, my daughter would say "more!". The only part that made it a little tough was that the sound was quite loud and so was Julie's voice, so it actually made my daughter cry a couple of times (she is a bit sensitive to noise, though!) My husband is a musician of sorts, so our daughter has been exposed to several instruments already, but this place has quite a few more :)

https://jazzangels.org/…read more The setting of last evening's wonderful concert was Bixby Park. With the golden setting sun, it was the perfect city-and-not-quite-bucolic park combo for gentle jazz. We had not heard of this group of young players before. Actually we chose to come here rather than another event due to it's close proximity to the restaurant where we would be eating. Were we surprised! This is a highly competent jazz band. Or bands. Jazz Angels Charles Mingus & Blue Mitchell Bands was how they were billed. Extraordinary that the players are, for the most part, all teenagers. Tatiana Tate who has been playing trumpet for ten years and now professionally, joined the band. Her playing was excellent, however, physically she could be mistaken for a teenager herself. Led by Barry Cogert, the music director, they did beloved standards such as Watermelon Man. Also great baritone saxophone. Some beautiful smooth singing as a bonus. The musical talent found in Long Beach continues to astound me. I purchased a logo tee shirt, mostly as a donation to this fine organization, but also this might have been the last cool evening for a while and I was inadequately dressed. Very convenient.
