From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a really light and pleasant vibe. I called from my…read morecar to let them know I arrived and was let in shortly. I was wisely given the option to use the restroom since I had a 90 minute massage. It was stocked with extras like hair ties, a small gesture but an appreciated one. I'm sure all of us have arrived to a massage and forgotten to bring one, and having your hair hanging around your shoulders/face isn't ideal. I was led back into the room, which felt extra cozy since it was almost nightfall. Daniela M. let me know she was planning to use hot stones and a cupping technique where she moves the suction around to break adhesions up so she can better get to my problem areas. I'd never done it before, so I was excited yet apprehensive. The only thing I know about cupping is the round bruises I've seen on friends backs. However with this specific technique, there was zero bruising and it felt so amazing! I've honestly never walked away from a massage feeling like my body had let out such a huge sigh and released all this tension. I used to be able to crack my back at home simply by using a back roller but it's been years. A few hours after I left my appointment here, I ran myself down the back roller and heard the beautiful sound of "pop pop pop pop" from everything resetting itself. After chugging a ton of water and stretching, I headed off into my best night of sleep in a long while. I think Daniela M. will have to become part of my monthly routine. She balanced out really getting into problem areas of my body, while moving to softer and more relaxing techniques. It's hard to find someone who can do the work needed to get out the knots while still having you enjoy the overall experience. She was also great at being personable, with some small talk that usually I initiated, while still giving space for silence so that I could zone out. In the end, this is the first time I've debated setting a monthly massage with someone. I've enjoyed past massages, I've had tons at highly rated and respected places. Yet this is the first time someone has been able to make my muscles feel like jello (in a good way) without me cringing the entire time and feeling beat up the following days. You won't regret coming here. It is an investment into your own health and happiness. My husband has also come in, seeing a different person but having a similar experience. You can't go wrong :)

The front desk worker Ocean is costing their own LMTs money. I called Elk Rock Wellness for the…read morefirst time to book a specific modality--neuromuscular trigger point therapy (and potentially deep tissue)--for an upcoming Saturday. What followed was one of the most unprofessional and confusing front-desk interactions I have ever experienced. The receptionist was completely unfamiliar with standard massage terminology. She didn't know what neuromuscular therapy was, stumbled over "trigger point," and didn't seem to understand that they are closely related modalities. Despite representing a large clinic with numerous LMTs, she could not tell me if any therapist on staff specialized in this work, nor could she confirm schedule availability for the upcoming Saturday. Her solution was to tell me she "might" call me back the next day after checking. Asking a potential new client to wait over 24 hours just to find out if a clinic is even capable of performing a requested service is entirely unacceptable. When I explained that I would have to take my business elsewhere if basic scheduling and modality questions couldn't be answered, she seemed completely baffled. What kills me is that her lack of training directly hurts the therapists working there. By being completely unable to sell their services or book a basic appointment, she essentially reached right into an LMT's pocket and snatched a $120 session away from them. I will be taking my business to a clinic that actually understands basic massage therapy terminology and values a client's time. Avoid this place unless you already have a direct line to a specific therapist, because the front desk is actively driving new business out the door.

Today was my first day at the Wine Spa, and I wanted to share my experience!…read more If you want the short version: Yes, I'll definitely be booking again--and I'll be telling all my friends and family about this place. Especially excited to take my mother here! I booked with the "any available professional" option and was paired with Lisa, who was absolutely phenomenal. The spa itself is tucked away in a really cool little pocket of Portland, surrounded by shops and places you could easily make a day out of exploring. Bonus points for the public transportation stop right outside, so getting there is super easy! When I arrived, Lisa greeted me warmly and got me checked in. I had booked the Vinopure session, and while waiting, I enjoyed a complimentary drink--they offer wine, water, and tea (I went with tea ). The waiting area in the back was cozy and calm. What surprised me most was how spacious the spa actually is--it looks small from the front, but once you're inside, it opens up beautifully. Before starting, Lisa went over my goals and what kind of experience I wanted: therapeutic, relaxing, or something with skincare tips for aftercare. I chose a bit of both, though I quickly realized I got mostly the therapeutic side... because I was so relaxed that I fell asleep! And I appreciate that in the end she still went over what was used and what helped my skin. Shout out to the heated table! This experience instantly made me feel secure and comfortable, and I could actually feel the tension melting away from my face, neck, and shoulders. My body was trying to stay awake, but it didn't stand a chance against that level of calm. When the session ended, I genuinely felt like a new person. I felt like I was in such a Blissful state. I'll absolutely be coming back again--and next time, I want to try out some of their other massages and facials. This was easily one of my favorite self-care experiences ever. Highly recommend!

I had a full body scrub, a warm soak with vinotherapy, followed by a massage and a facial. Total sensory reboot. By the time I left, I felt like a new woman. Floaty, glowy, peaceful. It's in the cutest little part of town just off Broadway. Cozy, quiet, and exactly the kind of place you want to disappear into for a few hours. If you're in Portland and need a sign to unwind... this is it. Go ahead and book your treatments now. You won't regret it.

They were friendly but not in that fake way that you see in a lot of the surface industry. I was offered a choice between tea and water and was given my paperwork to fill out. My facial with Terril was very relaxing. We went into the treatment room and discuss what my concerns were with my skin and what I was hoping to get out of my appointment. Terril was very attentive, asking questions along the way. One thing I really liked was that the table was heated because I've been having some issues with my back that make it uncomfortable to lay down so having that heated surface under my back made my appointment even more relaxing. My skin felt amazing when she was done, even though she had to do a few extractions. I was so pleased that I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for a few months out so that my skin will be able to recover from the upcoming summer months. I highly recommend checking out this wonderful little spa and I look forward to returning for my next facial.
