We couldn't feel more lucky to have had our wedding here. My husband and I met in Vermont, but we live in New York City. We knew it was going to be complicated planning a wedding from afar, and we simply could NOT have done it without Christy. "She is worth her weight in gold!" my Dad said at one point during the planning process, and boy is he correct! We had a million questions, and for every one Christy had an answer that made perfect sense and calmed our nerves. She is an expert at this and has endless brilliant ideas about how to make the party flow. When we were clueless about how to make something happen, she took the lead. And when we had a particular idea -- a maple creemee truck, bringing a jazz band from NYC, a table with thousands of cookies -- she let us lead and helped make it happen. She even helped find a basketball court in town for my husband and his groomsmen to play a game! Above and beyond is an understatement. On top of that, the venue is spectacular. You can tell Christy and her wonderful husband, Gary have put love and thought into every corner. We threw our entire weekend right here -- a welcome party the night before, yoga on the grounds the morning of, a ceremony on the stunning hill, and of course an incredibly fun reception in the cocktail pavilion and barn. Our guests from New York City, Ohio, California, Connecticut all raved about how special it was to celebrate here, and my husband and I didn't even have to leave the grounds once we arrived on Friday morning! I'll never forget the feeling as each of our friends and family arrived at the Alerin Barn and the enthusiasm and fun that abounded the entire weekend. We wanted our wedding to be a warm, sophisticated, Vermont-y, special PARTY. Christy and Gary helped make it real at every turn. And the breakfast they make you each morning is an added delight. Driving to the Alerin Barn makes one a little skittish about its usefulness as a wedding venue…read more You climb and climb a mountain road where deerskins hang in the trees and cars sit on blocks in yards. But when you enter the world of Alerin Barn and the Keeper on Horned Pout Pond, you leave all of that behind. The property is a world unto itself-- a fully refinished farm house, a gorgeously restored barn, a pond-- and, in a meadow up on the hill (a short cart ride away, but walkable), an outdoor chapel for wedding ceremonies. The farmhouse has ample room for both halves of the couple to dress in, and a few rooms for guests to stay. The chapel has rough-hewn wooden benches and an arbor under some trees. When I photographed a wedding there the staff had brought lemonade service up for the guests. The property owners have also made an adorable cart that pulls behind a tractor to carry your guests up to the meadow where the chapel is. The barn itself is well redone with room for tables on both floors and a walk-out patio on the second floor. The DJ booth is on the second floor and overlooks the dance floor. There are patio tables by the pond and a floating dock that you can walk out onto. The staff is wonderful (both the in house and hired in staff) and the owners are personable and very, very capable. The wedding I photographed there also featured a fireworks display over the pond, it was spectacular.

It is absolutely unique with wonderful 19th century buildings in perfect condition, the animal sanctuary, and incredible views of the mountains on all sides. Our son's wedding was outside with a view of the Lake Willoughby Gap. Spectacular setting as you walk through flower covered fields to the wedding site. The staff is well-organized and very friendly. By the end of your stay, they seem like family. The guests, who attended from all over the U.S., absolutely loved it. If you are considering a wedding venue or a place to stay in the Northeast Kingdom for a few days, look at Inn at Mountain View Farm. You will be glad that you did.

The Inn was built in 1909 by Thomas Edison. Yes that Thomas Edison, the one who invented the lightbulb. The Inn has so much character it's pure eye candy for those who appreciate the fine craftsmanship of classic furniture, decor and interior design. We stayed in the Thomas Jefferson room, the biggest room with a king size bed and infamously know to have housed Joe DiMaggio and Marylyn Monroe back in the day. The owners were super accommodating and Dave cooked us one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Highly recommended!

They do offer a lift for those that are handicapped or injured to the ceremony site. The chapel, which was used for a cocktail hour the night before, is clean & appears to be recently built or recently renovated. It's a romantic setting. Just before the reception began while pictures were being taken, guests were able to chit chat at tall tables on a patio-like setting with an outdoor 'hut' bar. Very charming! The views were incredible for fall foliage. I cannot speak to what it costs to have a wedding here, but it was clean & organized. They offer a package with an open bar with a limited selection. All of the staff was friendly, including the bartenders & the ones passing hors d'oeuvres. I'd suggest this location for a barn wedding, but be mindful of the parking & the traffic that goes by. We could hear cars go by during the ceremony but that's out of the venue's control.

I had to wait in line for 15 min to reserve a room for the next day, then I was told I had to call as the women behind the from desk did not know how to book a reservation, she also did not seem to be a fan of my dog whom I took on the trip with me. The room was not what I expected, no warm blankets on the bed, felt like I was in a hospital bed with the cheap blankets, shower only had half a door, making the shower experience a cold one. The food was ok, chicken was chewy. Although I lived in VT and would walk the beautiful grounds of the property, would never stay there again.

Burke Mountain has something for all levels of skiers and the surrounding town is quaint and lovely. My only criticism is that I would prefer to not enjoy the hot tub with Burke employees that are preaching about Burke Mountains ongoing financial challenges. We get it, it's hard to run an amazing resort in challenging times and Burke has a history. I just don't want to hear about it on repeat when I'm trying to support the company by coming here year after year (times 10yrs) and relax while doing so. ("He and she" employees that were there 2/20/25 should do better if they want to support the future of this lovely resort). Families and folks looking for an amazing mountain to enjoy, please support Burke. Burke management, require better of your employees.
