My family and I rented three rooms from Executive and over all had about the experience we expected…read morefor the price of the rooms. Pros: The front desk was friendly. Rooms were pretty clean. Pet Friendly Shower was large and had strong water pressure. Plenty of parking. Easy access from freeway. Large dresser and nightstands with drawers. Awesome tattoo place, Black Lotus, across the street. Cons: I called two different days to confirm my reservation that I had made with booking.com and found no one to answer the phone and no machine. It just continued to ring and then eventually stopped ringing. This went on for 4 different phone calls until on the third day I was able to connect with someone. They did have our rooms available however and called me when we were on our way out of town to head to Eugene. My husband and I stayed in room 110 and there was a gap between the bottom of the door to the ground which made it pretty chilly if not blocked off by pillows or towels. We were in a nonsmoking room directly above a smoking room. Even when our heater vent was not on we could still smell cigarette smoke coming from it. I'm not sure if this is possible with the venting system but I'm an ex-smoker and can smell it clearly. It was coming from that vent. I would suggest they make the entire place nonsmoking and just allow smoking outside. As a smoker, I stayed plenty of places without a smoking room and just smoked outside. There was no sink in the bathroom, although there was room for it. You can tell they recently have, or are in the process of refurbishing the rooms. Maybe they plan to put some in the future. There are still pencil marking in our rooms to show where to hang the pictures, which all matched each room by the way. lol We laughed at our matching "bullet holes" (no they weren't really bullet holes) in our curtains between our room and my parents room two doors down. Both mine and my sisters rooms had new refrigerators but my parents had an older mouthy one that hummed all night long. Enough to the point that they had to unplug it because they couldn't sleep. Only one roll of toilet paper, no tissue, and towels for one night. Would have been nice to have the extras without having to leave for it. Apparently 6th street is kind of the back side of Eugene but we didn't run into any issues. You could see it wasn't the higher end or quaint side of town but all and all we had a good and safe journey.

You know if the venue is recommending a DJ they will be good, but Barry was so much better than just good. He met with us multiple times before the event to make sure he knew what we wanted. He set up everything the day of the reception. He had mics available for the toasts on one floor and the complete lighting/speaker setup for dancing on another floor of the venue. We had dancing for around 4 hours and the selection of music was perfect. Barry had the crowd up on their feet, was dancing himself, and created the perfect atmosphere. I have never seen a wedding where the dance floor was never empty. His prices were reasonable. We will be using him for any party we need a DJ at in the future. The pictures we have now of our wedding are beautiful and something we treasure dearly. That said, the services rendered were not cheap. I did a double take the first time my wife quoted the package prices. As any smart man should do when it comes to wedding planning, I quickly backed off my initial response. Best just to keep your head down and do as your told in this area as it will save you a lot of grief in the long run. Let's face facts, most women are going to get what they want when it comes to wedding planning so pick your battles carefully.

Jared stepped up to fill in last minute for my wedding after party and was a highlight of the…read morenight. He took our premade playlist very seriously and did not divert from the music genre we wanted for the night. I threw a curve ball at him on the floor to ask him to play Bay Area hyphy music and his response was "I will figure out what that is and make sure it is played". This is a longer review, so TLDR: Joshua Rainey Photography is great, and you should hire him for…read moreyour event or wedding! After scouring the internet for portfolios and searching far and wide for a wedding photographer, I eventually stumbled upon Joshua Rainey's website. I was extremely pleased with the clarity and detail of the photos, which maintain a realistic yet refined image without appearing over-processed in post. Upon contacting Joshua, my wife and I were met with prompt and courteous communication, which was maintained up to and through receiving our gorgeous finalized wedding photos. Joshua lives in Oregon, but was able to travel to the Bay Area on two separate occasions for two full day photo shoots - one for an engagement shoot (which we partially decided to do to get to know him before the big day) and again a few months later with a second shooter for our wedding. You would think that this would be quite expensive, but we found that even with the travel and engagement shoot the final cost was actually less than what we were being quoted for by local bay area photographers to do the same thing. At our first meeting in San Francisco, Joshua proved knowledgeable about the local area, provided good insight on what to bring and where would be good locations for the shoot. He also kept it not super formal or posed, which allowed us to feel more at ease and unstaged, leading to more natural photos. He is funny, kind, and compassionate, while still being professional. Once the finalized and edited photos were returned to us, we knew that we had definitely made the right decision. Our second meeting during the "big day" he arrived early and ready to go, along with the second photographer he brought, and was able to capture great getting ready shots. He was able to direct the groups of people quickly and efficiently to get the photographs that we requested, along with many more that we wouldn't have thought about. At the same time, he did not over-run or try to take control of the entire day, which is something that some other photographers are not quite as good at. All in all, Joshua was a great photographer at a more than reasonable price, and a wonderful human. If either of us had to get married again (which hopefully we won't), we would both make the same decision to hire him again, and you should too.

I was a guest at a recent wedding held at the Emerald Valley Event Center in Creswell. I have event…read moreplanning experience and that always makes for an interesting perspective versus that of a typical party guest. The exterior of the EVEC main building and interior lobby are a bit outdated in terms of decor. In contrast, the event hall itself is quite lovely and spacious; large sweeping view of the golf course, high ceilings with lots of wooden beams and pretty hanging light fixtures, a moderate sized wooden dance floor; fireplace with stone mantle that serves as a nice backdrop for a ceremony. The event staff was managed well; the servers were attentive and dressed professionally, and handled the changing/re-arranging of the space from ceremony to reception smoothly. The food, I'm sorry to say, was consistent with the general consensus that food at weddings is typically not memorable. As is to be expected with similar venues; to use the EVEC location and space, one most likely needs to use their caterer. While plentiful, the selections and their presentation was unimaginative and the flavor/quality was less than mediocre. The two most effective examples of this gripe would be the GINORMOUS cheese platter and a ridiculously small selection of dark brown or light brown, barely-stale slices of pullman loaf bread, and the crab cakes reeked of fish sauce. So, yes, your guests will enjoy a lovely view, competent staff, and a venue thats good for an indoor party with a nice space, pretty decor, booze and music. Their catering needs work. If I were to rate the food by my Yelp standards, it would be considerably lower than the 3, but who goes to a wedding to review (solely) the food?
