I was soooo impressed with our experience getting my 6 year old daughter's ears pierced with Alia Stabbee at Modified Skin Tattoos in Beavercreek. She was honest, kind, calm, patient, and supportive, taking 90 minutes to pierce both ears. She definitely is gifted to work with children, and anxious children at that. Words really don't do her work and our experience justice. The trip to Beavercreek was WELL WORTH the drive. I have been searching for the perfect artist to do a meaningful tattoo for me for at least the last 5 years. I looked in Savannah, GA, Charlotte, NC, Cincinnati and finally Dayton. I was searching for someone to do a realistic face and many artists came close, but none were just, the right fit. I was doing a yelp search recently and I came across Modified Skin. The pictures that have been posted were perfect for what I had been looking for. I contacted the owner Josh Wiley, and we a set up an appointment. I told him what I was envisioning, and he came up with some amazing ideas for the final result. The shop itself is very laid back, and all the artists are incredibly friendly and creative. It was a full house the night I was in, and the place was a buzz with happy customers, myself included. I feel like this shop has more personal touches than many I have gone to in the past. Josh had a large selection of movies and before we got started he asked if I'd like to watch a movie or listen to music. I knew I was in for a long session and I'm a wuss, so I decided to pick out a couple of funny movies to keep my mind busy. After a couple of hours, my energy was running low, so he ran to Wendy's to grab some food. I have to say, this tattoo has turned out much different than my first ideas in the beginning of my thoughts, but it turned out much better too. I have only had the tattoo for a couple of weeks, and it's not even complete but it has gotten more attention and more compliments than I ever expected. Got my first tattoo here and the guy cut me with the razor and left me with razor burn. Tattoo looks okay though

I got my very first piercings at this shop, nipple piercings. They weren't healing correctly after 2 months so I went to a different shop to get them removed (the number on his google page wasn't working - THANK GOD) and when the other piercer saw the work I had done his jaw dropped to the floor. Turns out - he did EVERYTHING wrong. He didn't even pierce my nipple. HE PIERCED MY AREOLA. It was the most painful experience I've ever had, and friends who also had their nipples pierced at others places said it didn't hurt them at all. Now it makes sense. He didn't even use the right jewelry. This guy needs to be shut down. CROOK. read more

Coming from a place like Richmond, Virginia to Dayton, Ohio is like trading gold for a small lump of charcoal when it comes to options for reputable tattoo shops and talented artists. Luckily, Modified Skin reminded me of home in the best way possible. I walked in on a whim to ask them questions about the area and other shops, and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. They answered all of my questions and gave me business cards, inviting me to come back. I was even lucky enough to catch them at a time where I could get a tattoo without an appointment, and they were super sweet about me being a walk-in. My artist, Justin Barbarino, was super kind and fun to work with, and even gave me some pointers on where to go in the area and where to find things to do. He did a great job on my tattoo, and I can't wait to work on some more projects with him in the future. The shop is neat and tidy, in a teeny little strip mall, and has a lot of character. First tattoo, great experience. I surprised birh of my grown sons with this tattoo idea, and they collaborated on a design. I was visiting in Dayton for a few days, but I wanted Matt Clemmer, who had done great tattoos for my son, to do this one. Matt made time for me and did a great job on the tattoo. I didn't quite know what to expect, and I was nervous, but everyone--even the other customers--were friendly and helpful.
