I'm leaving this review years after my initial purchase because I seriously love the rugs I purchased from here. They only sell the highest quality product. If you're looking for the best high quality rugs in LA, look no further. They have a massive selection of modern rugs, many designed by the owners themselves. I'll be coming back for all my rug needs in the future. Thank you! read more

Very special one of a kind area rugs are offered. They have their own production and design. Rightfully so the prices are in the high end along with uniqueness of the product they offer. One small issue for us that may be a big concern for few other consumers and that is there were two very well behaved big size dogs not on a leash accompanying the owner. While we were perfectly fine with it, there might be some people more sensitive while shopping. Plus I think it's a distraction from shopping and focusing on buying their products! read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this establishment and its owners and employees. Everyone was so welcoming and warm and kind, and even though our budget was somewhat modest, they never made us feel awkward about it. The owner Sasha and his son Josh are extraordinary people who made us feel like family. They helped us find a beautiful rug in our budget, and we truly felt like we had made lifelong friends. Paulino and Joel were also so helpful and nice, and the adorable dogs made our day. I will not shop anywhere else for a rug ever again, and recommend this special place without any reservation. All of the rugs are works of art, beautifully designed and crafted from the finest wools. They feel so luxurious and look beautiful. Thank you again to Sasha, Josh and everyone at Modern Rugs LA. You are wonderful people with great quality products. read more

I'm working on a design project and dropped by today for my first time. I was greeted by two beautiful and sweet white fluffy Samoyed dogs! They add so much to the ambiance of this truly amazing showroom. I was helped by Sanem. So nice and informative. I got all the information I needed as far as what they have ready to go to custom designs. So many beautiful, extraordinary rugs. All works of art. So hard to choose! read more

So excited about my new rugs I bought from this store, we had finished furniture shopping and after many stores we found modern rugs la which had what we were looking for to match our restoration hardware furnishings. Staff was extremely nice and friendly and they gave us a deal for picking out 3 different rugs Thank you guys!!! read more

The BEST experience in rug shopping I've EVER had! Josh was extremely helpful and accommodating. He suggested merging two rugs together to get the large size I needed for my large living room. The result was stunning!! We repeated this process for my bedroom as well, with a different rug. I would not hesitate to start my rug shopping here in the future. read more

We walked into this place after eating lunch and immediately fell in love with the owner Sasha. He was so welcoming and so patient with us. We recently renovated our house and purchasing rugs was the final touch to put it all together. We met Sasha and Sabrina at their now shuttered Helm's Bakery location and they couldn't have been more helpful. They guided us in choosing the right sizes and more importantly what would compliment the aesthetic of the rooms we were furnishing. They made the process so easy for us that we gladly spent four figures in the course of an afternoon on several rugs. The guys that deliver and install the rugs are very knowledgeable about placement and were really nice about making adjustments at my request. So often you leave an experience feeling underwhelmed by the service but that just couldn't be further from the truth with Modern Rugs LA. Everyone we encountered cares and that is priceless. I plan to tell all my friends about this exceptional buying experience. Oh and the rugs are PERFECTION. read more

Do you sometimes have such an overwhelmingly positive experience with a vendor that you don't actually know where to begin the review? I honestly have had that problem with MRLA now twice. Do I start with the recently upgraded quality craftsmanship and design of the products? Or maybe it's better to address the exceptional kindness, authenticity and integrity of Sascha's team. But if I didn't start with either of these aspects, I'd probably have to remark on the value for price of such beautiful and lasting handwoven rugs. Anyway, afterI figured out how exactly to begin the review, I'd be sure to add that the delivery could not have been any smoother, more seamless or rapid. I only bought one rug, but Sascha sent three over just to see which one I like best in my space. Josh delivered it as a consummate professional. So, it is hard for me to know what to say to do these guys justice. It feels that any review I word would necessarily fall short of reflecting the totality of my happiness and satisfaction with this business. Suffice it to say I am now successfully on rug TWO from MRLA, and there will be many more to come. :) read more

ABSOLUTELY THE FIRST PLACE YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR A RUG! Truly surprising selection of beautifully designed rugs at affordable prices. Even the inexpensive rugs had a high-end designer feel to them. They're not just the kind you'll find at Home Depot, these looks like you got them on in the Robertson design district (which is, actually, nearby). They also have fine rugs, all of which feel artistic and unique, and even those are more affordable than the other rug shops I visited. The owner (and his gorgeous dog) were there to answer any questions, and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. read more

I can't believe that I haven't written a review of Modern Rugs yet. We found them through a designer who has worked with Sasha a great deal over the years and while we never ended up meeting him, the salespeople and everyone we dealt with were so helpful. They walked us through a variety of options that fit what we were looking for and our budget (ok maybe a little over our budget) and we even were able to memo some of the rugs, one of which we ended up buying. Most of all though we love our rug! Its good quality and beautiful and really gives our room a certain warmth and style. The color and texture is just right, and exactly what we were looking for (without knowing this is what we were looking for). We love Modern Rugs and will be back! read more

After reading reviews decided to check Modern Rugs out but was a teensie bit afraid prices would be too expensive. Ended up buying a 5 by 7 rug with a nice design for a reasonable price, and they even threw in a complimentary $80 pad with a yelp check in. Was served mainly by Paulino but the other younger guy helping us out was nice as well. Said they've been open for 7 years and I'm not surprised. Their selection is nice and they've got great rugs in various (decent) price ranges. I plan on returning to buy a faux fur rug for another room in my apartment. This lady is satisfied. They truly deserve all the great ratings and praises you see in the other reviews. read more

I will be sending everyone I know here! I can't wait to come back once I'm in need for more rugs and have a bigger place, the entire staff is so welcoming and helpful. Awesome place with lots of options and if they don't have it they can of course order it. I prefer my gratification in the instantaneous format so this place was my spot. Tons of options (possibly too many for some) to try/touch/see. They are very nice people and not pushy at all. They also have a poofy Samoyed mascot that is a big ball of white fluffy love. Probably go back just to see him :p I don't know if this is common so don't go in demanding it but I was torn between two options and they basically said I could take the rug home and try it out and if I didn't like it after a week I could come in and exchange at no cost. I know others have mentioned this but gotta say the parking lot is really convenient. Totally worth the trip if you are in the market for a rug :) read more

My wife and I are so happy we found Modern Rugs LA and we will definitely be using them for all of our future rug purchases. The owner and every employee we came across were so friendly and helpful. Even if we moved out of LA, we'd order from Modern Rugs because they were so nice. Highly recommended! read more

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Modern Rugs LA. I first became aware of this great showroom from DWELL magazine a few years ago. Last year we visited for the first time and was very impressed with the variety of great designs at prices that were about half of the really high end design showrooms in LA. Sasha the owner was very giving of his time and educated us on the issues one needs to consider in buying a rug. Fast forward a year later and we were ready to purchase for our new home in Palm Springs. Paulino was phenomenal in helping us pick an amazing rug, Sasha and Sabrina were very accommodating to our budget and delivery was white glove all the way. We recommend Mod Rugs LA to anyone who is looking for a beautiful and unique rug at a very fair price!! read more

Sasha is the epitome of an exceptional salesman. I've done a lot of work in customer experience and sales effectiveness and Sasha is exactly what I tell my clients to aspire to be. We parked in a lot north of Modern Rugs and called to confirm we could park there. Sasha personally walked out to the parking lot and welcomed us into his store. Out came the best welcoming committee I could hope for: China, his sweet Chow Chow mix pup. The store was immaculate, well lit, and tastefully decorated. Sasha and his sales associate gave us enough alone time to browse at our own pace, but would knowledgeably answer any questions that we had. Whether they were regarding aesthetics and design or quality and cleaning requirements, Sasha was able to impart his extensive knowledge on us. We felt very comfortable making the decision to purchase two rugs that same day. His main objective was for us to be happy with the purchase. He said he'll personally pick up the rug if we wanted to exchange it for something else, after we did a test run. After doing an extensive online search and visiting all of the local rug stores, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and price points that Sasha is able to provide his customers. He is extremely personable and made sure to follow up with us to ensure we were happy with our new rugs. Clearly, his business is built around the lifetime value of the customer relationship and word of mouth, not high margins and pushy sales tactics to satisfy a quick one time sale. Sasha personally selects each rug to feature in his showroom and the selection spans from modern patterns, colors, and shags that start around $350 to very high end bamboo silk beauties. Sasha was such a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend visiting Modern Rugs. read more

Believe the hype! This is a wonderful, family owned and operated store with a stunning selection of high quality rugs at excellent price points. Just picked up a beautiful rug from here a few days ago. The place had a great selection in contemporary rugs. What I really appreciated was that the owner, Sasha, literally went through nearly every rug explaining the different types fibers and how they would suit my needs as well as the process of how each rug is actually made. At one point, seeing my momentary indecisiveness, one of his employees quickly photoshopped up what a few would look like in my living room (I had taken a photo of a my couch I'm trying to pair it to before leaving the house). He also showed me on his phone a picture of his home and one rug, one that I would never pick my own, worked very well. There was no pressure to get me out of the shop despite how ridiculously picky I was. What a great resource and I'm really happy I found this place. Sasha clearly loves his business. read more

Modern Rugs LA definitely deserves the good reviews! The storefront is clean, well designed and inviting. The employees have masterful knowledge, are very patient and want you to pick the rug that's best for you - not just to make a quick sale and get you out. The owner came by with his beautiful Samoyed dog (who really stole our hearts) while we were shopping and was amazingly personable while we made our decision; he was incredibly helpful, patient and informative and helped us feel confident in our decision to give Modern Rugs LA our business. We walked out with a beautiful rug for our living room at a great price - they also threw in a rug pad when we checked in on Yelp; what a sweet bonus! I'll definitely be back - I had a great time! Thank you! read more

There's a reason Modern Rugs has a five star rating from everyone who yelps it. That reason, in one word, is Sasha. Sasha is the owner of Modern Rugs, and he's a pleasure to work with. He's knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. He takes the time, and listens carefully, to find the perfect rug for you. Not only that, he has a wide selection of styles and sizes, and his prices can't be beat. I would definitely purchase from Sasha again in the future. I might even stop by for a chat! He's that type of guy. Highly recommend. read more

Yet again - another 5 star review for Modern LA Rugs. I recently moved to the Los Angeles area from New York and was looking for a contemporary white shag rug for my new fabulous 2 bedroom apartment in West Hollywood... which seemed like an easy task to find, but it wasn't! Picky, picky, picky. I wanted lots of texture, not too shiny, not over the top expensive but with a luxury feel. I didn't want it to look like everything else on the market. Something unique. After searching high and low and pounding the pavement in many stores in the area, I accidentally stumbled on to Modern LA rugs on my way to get coffee one morning since they are 3 blocks from my apartment. I wandered into the showroom - and low and behold. I fell in love with THE PERFECT RUG. You NEED to buy from these charming and knowledgeable experts. Sasha and Noah will take the best care of you. I wanted to confirm that my new 8X10 rug would be the right "shade of white" in my new place, so Noah had his staff deliver the smaller store sample to me so I could see it in my apartment before placing an order for my size. Awesome service! Ordering was effortless and friendly - and my new rug arrived quickly in the 5 day period as they promised. Nothing better than having a great customer experience combined with a beautiful selection of upscale rugs in ALL price ranges. I never write reviews here, but would be remiss if I didn't endorse them. I LOVE my rug and receive SO many compliments on it. (I never sit on my new sectional anymore, because I'd rather lie on my NEW GORGEOUS RUG which feels so heavenly!) read more

This is the place to go for rugs. I've purchased rugs elsewhere online that I thought were great 'deals' at the time. Little did I know what I was getting myself into... I could not keep up with the shedding and I gave them away to Goodwill. Long story short don't buy a rug unless you see it in person and this is the place to go. Sasha is not only knowledgeable, friendly and fair... he is also very altruistic to those in need. The store looks more expensive then it is. I let the glamorous location and the curb appeal keep me away at first. I then read the yelp reviews and I was glad I did. His selection is awesome, his prices are unbeatable and most importantly he is someone who gives back to others in need. read more

HIGHLY recommend this place if you are looking for a high quality modern rug. They have a beautiful selection and the customer service is unbelievable. They let us choose 3 rugs for each room we were buying for and then came to our home to try each one out so that we can see them in the space before choosing. The people who were helping us have been there 10+ years and were very knowledgeable. At the last minute we asked them if they could ship our old rugs for us and they took them on the spot. They even ironed one of our existing rugs that had the edges folding up. They made what could easily have been stressful experience fun and easy. Highly recommend** read more

Once I posted this review the owner reached out and asked if he could help us in any way. I consider that really good customer service! After a conversation with Sasha, he asked me to send photos and would do whatever he needed to make us happy. He has offered to pay for the shipping to return the rug to his store and then return to the manufacture and get us a new rug. I had almost given up on a $3k rug! I'm so happy that the owner contacted me. I probably should have reached out to him instead of waiting all this time. I plan to retract my bad review if all goes well. read more

I went here because I read the other yelp reviews and they were not wrong. As all the other reviews say... the star of this show is the owner Sasha, the man is friendly knowledgeable and PATIENT. I came back 3 times before I had the rug I was satisfied with and Sasha smiled and helped me out each time I came back. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of product you are getting, and the customer service is the best you will find. This is the kind of place that reminds you of why small businesses are so much better than large chain stores. Sasha and his staff care about their customers and it shows from the minute you walk in. I may go back just to hang out with these guys, the vibe here is that good! If you live in LA and you need a rug go see Sasha at Modern Rugs LA - period. read more
