Me and my buddies were in town on a weekend getaway and was walking around the local professional teams stadiums when we came across this statue and a few others around the stadium Warren Spahn was well before my time but I've heard of his legend before. The former World Series champ was a mlb all star a mind boggling 17 times. So you can see why someone so dominant for so long was honored with a statue.

An impressive 15 or so feet tall, Smoke is made of aluminum and self-weathering steel and it portrays the beauty of smoke drifting into the sky on a calm day. The sculpture was purchased by the Roswell Wine Festival in 2016 and is presented by Roswell Arts Fund and the City of Roswell. Stop by the Square and check it out. Four triangular columns that are fifteen feet tall sit on a concrete base ringed with shrubs. There was originally a fountain at the center when the park was elsewhere but that has not been relocated to here. The caption reads, "Untitled. Artist: James Clover. 1970. I prefer Joan's Creek to John's Crack, but John will have to do…read more John's Creek is an absolutely beautiful suburb of leafy Atlanta Georgia which is way way north of the town - in fact so far north that you can drive for quite a long time especially in traffic and still not get here. There are some cool ethnic places - sort of a spillover from Chinatown - and some cool local places as well. I like the suburb and it seems like a very friendly if slightly expensive place to live. I'm sure that within another 20 years there will be 7 or 8 suburbs even further out than these. There's a large Asian population here, and nearly 100,000 people if you include all the illegals in the spare rooms. That's a joke by the way. And I used to live in a spare room meant for illegals so settle down.

I lived in JC from 2006 ~ 2015; a whopping nine years of my life and pretty much all of my teenage years. It was a brand new city when I moved here, and I honestly want to give this place 5 stars, but I simply can't for a few reasons. If you're living here as a teenager with parents and going to school, it's a great pace to live -- it's a safe and pretty high-class area, with great schools and little to no crime. Once you're in your twenties, you'll start to notice the downfalls here -- pretty much no night life, horrendous traffic and it's really the farthest place you can be from any highway. You have to drive either to Duluth, Alpharetta or Cumming to get to the nearest exit which is pretty sad, but that's why it has its own charms. Johns Creek is one of the safest cities and honestly one of the best cities you can live in Georgia. It has great school districts, plenty of diversity, great eateries and the people living here are really great! Lots of cultures in one melted pot, and any family will want to move here because of the terrific school districts. In terms of recreation, there really isn't much to do - there is a Lifetime Fitness, LA Fitness but no bowling allies -- there are a few parks (Shakerag Park), but nothing is like really great. In terms of schools, I went to Wilson Creek Elementary, River Trail Middle & Northview High. There are also Shakerag Elementary, Medlock Bridge Elementary, Findley Oaks Elementary, Johns Creek High School, but it's really just a district for higher middle-class families to live. Homes are expensive here for a reason -- there is a high percentage of Asians living here for education. With that being said, there is a Hmart and some Korean & Chinese restaurants in the area as well - the Korean community has been growing more than ever. I will say the only thing disappointing is you can't see anything much opening past 10pm. Again -- there is no night life here - you will have to drive to Duluth or Alpharetta to experience that. But my nine years in JC have been absolutely phenomenal, and again I was really tempted to give it that 5, but I can't because imagining myself living here as a 25 year old -- I'm not sure how I would feel about that.

If I had any doubt about how much I love my neighborhood, my experience tonight on the Candlelight…read moreTour of Homes solidified that I absolutely adore Grant Park. 2009 marked the 29th anniversary of the tour of homes, which is always held the second weekend in December. For $12 you get admission to eight beautiful homes from a variety of eras and styles that typify the diverse architecture of the area. My personal favorites were a beautifully restored 1910 Transitional Craftsmen bungalow (complete with a chicken coops in the backyard!) and a 1905 Queen Anne Victorian with an original hardwood staircase. But all the homes were completely stunning, expertly decorated, and softly lit with candles. A few owners even provided baked goods and hot cider, which proved a welcome handwarmer while strolling through the evening's misty rain. All the volunteers manning the houses were incredibly friendly, the owners of all the properties were incredibly gracious (and one couple even dressed in period clothing!), and a general feeling of goodwill and Christmas cheer seemed to accompany all the visitors. The Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes is truly a holiday attraction that is not to be missed. I already can't wait till next year!

My friends and I met up at 8:00 am on Sunday for the weekly walk with a naturalist. We went on a 4…read moremile hike with 3 rangers. Each ranger was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. One ranger was so knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in and around the mountain. One ranger was a bird expert and shared their binoculars with us and showed us how to use a bird call app to figure out how to identify all the fowl we saw. The other ranger told us lots of stories of the history of the park. It was a great experience and I highly recommend you try it.

There's parking less than a half mile of the main entrance the only thing about that is you have to get there early . Parking lot holds maybe 25 vehicles. When I pulled in there were 6 cars. I entered the trail on the south entrance. I saw no one ! I was looking around and behind me to make sure it was okay as I was alone. I finally came up behind 2 guys that were walking up ahead. I had been out there maybe 20 min. Saw a large Buck (deer) tried to get a pic but he ran when I pulled out the phone . The trails are completely paved with several wooden bridges along the way. Off pavement trails throughout the park. I did not venture off bc again I was alone and I'm not really familiar with the park. Great park to get you in top tier shape. Winding curves and elevation along the trail. Plenty of shade as the trees hover over . It reminds you of Stone Mountain Park just not as large. Idea weather 80 degrees low humidity. Managed to get in 4 miles. I most definitely will be back .

"Beer is normally taken internally." Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995)…read more Kudos to Duluth for their 1st Beerfest! The area where the festival took place was beautiful. The tents were laid out well (not too crowded) with a great selection of booths. Most of the major Atlanta/Georgia breweries were well-represented (Red Hare, Monday Night, Sweetwater, Terrapin, to name a few). The VIP area was well sponsored by Yelp with fun games/activities (cards, cornhole and a giant Jenga set) and free schwag! Plus, there were some fancier beers and free food to be had. Plus, a free Woodchuck backpack and cool 48oz beer stein. VIP also allowed you into the event 1 hour early to get your beer on before the masses arrived. Also, we had some food trucks for lining the stomach (much needed with all that beer) - Tex's Tacos, a frozen custard truck (forgot the name), and Slope's BBQ. Plus, the Frozen Pints team was out with beer ice cream as well as Happy Hour Confections (boozy cupcakes and brownies). Unlike other beerfests, this was a tamer (less sauced) crowd. It was quite enjoyable despite the humidity and threat of rain. Very well done, Duluth.

There were over 100 different types of beer available for tasting, far too many to try them all! Because of this, I decided to focus just on comparing the dark beers and ciders; my boyfriend was more adventurous (or less focused?) and tried them randomly. I found the people pouring to be very pleasant and informative, whether they were volunteers or representing their own brewing companies. There were also booths for non-beer places, like Costco, the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Roller Derby team, or Dave & Busters. And Yelp, too, of course, which had the best booth of all with a variety of free swag, cornhole, and life-size Jenga! The festival had some fun, festival-appropriate bands playing, too. My only criticism would be the at-the-gate price of $45. Even with 8-ounce pours, it'd be hard to drink anywhere near that amount of beer, so make sure to purchase tickets ahead of time and save $10. The price did ensure that there were never long lines at any of the booths. VIP tickets got you some premium beers (with high ABV and/or high prices), food like veggie platters and chicken fingers, and a wicked cool monstrous glass beer stein, as well as an hour to enjoy the festival before the general admission crowd. It was a beautiful day and a happy (but not sloppy) crowd, as you would expect for a beer festival!
