Modern Musician Hire ruined my wedding sound and DJ experience. They delivered equipment missing an essential power cord and one of the two speakers made an awful crackling sound resulting in it being unusable. absolute shit show at this place new service manager tried to give me an ultimatum and tell me I had no warranty. Bought a brand new tama dyna sync double pedal has had problems from the get go and tried for two weeks originally to contact and call them didn't call me back then I emailed finally got through told that it was all the pedals where that way and I had to live with it, now the problem is getting worse I asked for them to talk to tama to sort it out James the service manager said to me that's not his problem and that they can offer me another pedal if I pay the difference but have to wait for them to do an assessment I also asked them to just fix it through tama he still refused and just kept on repeating himself . I asked on many occasions to speak to the owner manager he flat out denied it have gone to consumer affairs as I tried to sort it out. it's a joke would never recommend this place ever the other positive review here is probably a family member this place is a joke. read more

There isn't a whole lot of choice in Hobart for new musical instruments. There is McCanns (which are also quite good, but this isn't about them). The shop is considerably bigger than it appears from the street and it has a STAGGERING amount of stock. Guitars like Gibson, Ibanez, Yamaha, Paul Reed Smith. All nicely displayed and prices to fit in a beginners budget to a working pro. It's 2020, and we all shop online and compare prices. What you get here that you don't always in "brick and mortar" shops is extremely competitive (if not outright lower) pricing than warehouse online sites. To top it off, the guys know what they're talking about and will give you honest advice about how to spend your money. More than just guitars though, they have home recording, amplifiers, keyboards, drums, and orchestral, even a small repair/tuneup bay. One of the best music shops I've come across! read more

This by far the worst and rudest company i have ever dealt with. Here is my story. The Modern Musician website as a part of their Black Friday/cyber Monday sale, were offering Shure beta 91a microphones for sale for $404.07 including shipping and GST. On the 29th November as part of the sale I purchase the item online with my credit card and received an invoice(attached) by return email and the full purchase fee was charged to my credit card. On the 30th November I received a phone call from them saying they would have to cancel the sale as they only had one at that price but if I would like to pay their full retail price they could complete the order. It was not stated anywhere on their website that they only had one or even a limited stock. In fact initially I accidentally put two in my shopping cart, which the site allowed me to do. Furthermore, after I made my purchase they continued for 4 and half hours (until the sale was over) to advertise and attempt to sell more copies of the microphone for the discounted amount. I want them to complete the contractual arrangements we both entered into and supply the microphone at the discounted amount. I am concerned that this fraudulent behaviour is purely and potentially a widespread marketing tactic used by the company to mislead online customers. read more

Excellent music store, staffed by very knowledgable and friendly dudes. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they want your business, so they work for it. They'll order anything they haven't got, they'll give you a great price, and they'll do it all with a smile. Some other competing stores around Hobart feel like a graveyard inside, or haven't got good stock (or staff), so I prefer to shop here. Give them a go, I'm sure you'll be impressed. read more
