Peacock, you da bomb…read more If you're not specifically headed to the Peacock Theatre, you'll probably miss it. Even if you're dining at Tricycle right outside its front doors. The Peacock is buried right up the back of the Salamanca Arts Centre on Salamanca Place (down the far end) and its big silver doors are all that give it away. Once you're inside, it's hard not to marvel at the beautiful backdrop of rock face. Actual rock face. Literally right there. I'm sure this is frustrating for people putting on shows here because there is no backstage because ROCK FACE, but gosh it's stunning and something different, for sure. Stunning little theatre space I've seen used in some wonderful ways since I've been in Hobart. Long may it reign.

Bought a brand new tama dyna sync double pedal has had problems from the get go and tried for two weeks originally to contact and call them didn't call me back then I emailed finally got through told that it was all the pedals where that way and I had to live with it, now the problem is getting worse I asked for them to talk to tama to sort it out James the service manager said to me that's not his problem and that they can offer me another pedal if I pay the difference but have to wait for them to do an assessment I also asked them to just fix it through tama he still refused and just kept on repeating himself . I asked on many occasions to speak to the owner manager he flat out denied it have gone to consumer affairs as I tried to sort it out. it's a joke would never recommend this place ever the other positive review here is probably a family member this place is a joke.

What a bunch of weirdos…read more MONA FOMA--or the Museum of Old and New Art's Festival of Music and Art--is an extension of the giant looming museum of sex and death that's taken Tasmania, nay Australia, nay the world a little bit, by storm. The festival is an annual event, and each year gets bigger, taking over more corners of little old Hobart town. The event began in 2009, creeping along quietly and flying under the radar but gaining more and more followers. The most recent festival caused a hipster influx, because by then most of Australia had heard of the great and powerful MONA, and so they came in droves to be a part of it. On every corner you could spot a mainlander. If it had been a drinking game, we'd have all been drunk on hipsters. The festival itself is more than just music. It's about running all over town and seeing everything there is to see. Most big events more recently have been held in PW1 down at Salamanca, but other corners of Hobart are also utilised. Perhaps the most exciting and intriguing part of 2013's festival was the official nightly afterparty, Faux Mo, taking over one city block's back alleys and underground spaces. Did it even happen? I don't know... were you there? Also, thanks to MONA FOMA, David Byrne & St. Vincent came to Hobart and cemented themselves in my top ten gig list. Dang, those beats were fresh.

It's totally cool to just drop in and try the guitars and Basses. They're not pushy, not not over sales person like and will order in something if they don't have it in stock. Hobart's only Fender and Gretsch dealer, so they are the place to go if you're after the classics synomous with classic guitars. Parking can sometimes be a pain and expensive to park on the streets but that's not really their fault- just be aware of it, you'll probably be in for awhile!
