The Gold Standard of Excellence has been achieved! I had just bought a newer, 6.75 HP, 190cc Gold Series, self-propelled Craftsman mower at a flea market on 6/15 and thought I might have gotten ripped off. It stopped working after about a half hour of mowing. Then it worked for about 3 minutes, and then a few more times for less than a minute. Then it would not start at all. Needless to say I was a bit frustrated. At first went to Hellebuycks a bit south of this place on Mound. Turns out they do not service Craftsman mowers, but were nice enough to point out Modern Mower a few miles north. Brought it in during my lunch break today and was pleased by the entire experience. The owner immediately knew what was needed and provided me with a fair price for replacing the carburetor and performing a full tune-up. Even better was that they got the job done VERY fast, and I had my mower back by the end of my shift. Murdered my entire backyard and side of house like it was nothing. Took my lawn mower to Modern Mower with a carb issue and also for a pre-season tune-up after seeing such good reviews online (on other sites). The owner Brian was polite, honest and accommodating through my process. Not only did he explain what he was going to do, and roughly how long it would take, but he even went above and beyond and washed my mower (which I admit I had never done in 7 years), and it looks brand new! When I went to pick it up I knew they closed at 6pm, and got caught in traffic and knew I would not get there until around 6:10pm, but I called Brian and he said he'd be happy to stay a few extra mins so I could get my mower. In any area where you need to go for service, to me the issues are, Can I trust these guys to do the right job? Are their prices fair? Will they do the job within a reasonable length of time? If there is a problem, will they backup what they have done without charging me more? I searched the internet and hoped Modern Mower's service matched their reviews and fortunately they do. What impressed me most is when i brought in my machine the owner was extremely knowledgeable about my mower and the same for my snow blower. The service matched the words. This place not only does great work, their customer service goes above and beyond the call of duty. I took a small generator and a snow blower over there late one day when the winds were going to be gusting to 60 mph. I knew I was too late to help me if I needed the generator that day, but I at least wanted to get the repair process started. Brian told me that it takes about 4 days to get the repairs done, but he checked the weather and got my generator fixed before he closed so I could have it in case the winds knocked my power out. In addition, though he had never met me before, he told me to pay when I come back four days later. I will go no where else for these repairs. read more

Excellent Service! I tried Modern Mowers based on other positive reviews of their service. I needed a season tuneup on my 5 year old Craftsman Snow Blower. It would not start last season. They were responsive and clear about what the tune up could cost ( flat rate) plus extras if needed. They offered pick up and delivery for a fee. Everything went as they explained. Pick up was on time and they called before arriving. Snow Blower was repaired by Tim and is now working! They even returned it on Saturday in time for our first big snowstorm of the season! Bravo!! The shop was great. They were able to address my issues and get my snowblower back before the next big storm and at a reasonable cost. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The only thing I was not happy about was that they did not give me a quote before they started the work but I think it was a understandable mistake and a one time issue. Staff was great and I am not sure which tech worked on my snowblower but I wanted to give both Jay and Bryan credit for the fantastic job they did. I've been going to Modern Mower for several years now. We get the Winterize lawn mower special at the end of the season. They guarantee it will start in the spring and run all summer, its true. We will be going into our 4th season in 2026. This year I called, took it in the next day and had it back the following day. Tim the Tech on my lawn mower did a great job at least so far. I highly recommend modern mower for your lawn repair needs I had a brand new mower that was only used eight times and it broke on me. I was thinking I had serious issues and they fixed it within five minutes. It was a simple, self-propelled cable problem . The repair was fast. They were friendly professional, and showed compassion. Great service at a fair price. Modern Mower took good care of my snow blower so I brought in my mower this spring and once again it was up and running great in less than a week.
