Originally, I found out about this location via Groupon. They had a great deal where I can try out 5 fitness classes and have 1 private lesson for a very decent price. I am hooked on the FIT Heavy Bag Class. I haven't tried any of the other classes, but I enjoy the workout. It's a great way to sweat, build endurance/cardio, burn calories, and actually learn some boxing/kickboxing techniques. I've had classes with multiple instructors. Phabion really emphasizes technique. Chad does a mix of technique as well as making you sweat. Raleigh emphasizes the fitness aspect and makes you work your core and build your cardio. The class size is mixed (sometimes it's only a handful of people and other times it is fully packed). There is something really cool about putting on hand wraps, a pair of boxing gloves and start hitting a heavy bag. It really builds your strength and it makes you sweat. I love this class so much that I signed up for a 6 month membership after my groupon deal ended. read more

I decided to come to MMA fit last year when I was looking for a self defense class, and was still undecided. The woman on the phone was very nice, and offered me a beginner class. So, I went, but I clearly remember the instructor did not make a lot comfortable communication. If he had an assistant in the class, they clearly were the experienced one, but didn't try to assist anyone, especially in the very beginning. The class was very fast placed, and I remember having to constantly look around to see what we had to do. We did not do any heavy bag work. Instead we were partnered up and learned how to throw punches using Thai pads. If you are a beginner, you aren't going to be using them until you are " taught" how to use them. (When you get to an intermediate class) I remember constantly having trouble, and not enjoying myself. When the class was over, the instructor did not say goodbye to anyone. Originally I had a small problem but manager/ owner Chad was extremely helpful and problem resolved. Honorable. Recommend this place!

This gym is great. I train here and take classes. The teachers are helpful, nice and push you to do your best. I've already seen results and it's only been three weeks. I highly recommend the heavy bag classes. read more

I just moved my 8 year old son from a Kenpo Karate school that was getting a bit redundant and too theoretical to Westchester MMA Fit for their Black Belt and Advanced Self Protection classes. Do not join this gym if you are overweight and trying to get fit. You will be very uncomfortable. The "student responsibilities " that are given to you when starting state that 'this is a learning environment;anyone who interferes with any student's opportunity to learn will be removed from the class . Instead I had to leave after "gymtimidation" and taunting and bullying from advanced kick boxers , I had to leave the gym of my own accord not them, spoke with coach's and owner and got no resolution . This is the not a great gym at all. I went in for a Thursday evening class and the creepy instructor paid most of his attention to the women in the class. The workout was average and the instructor just yells some motivational sayings to try to pump up the overly crowded sweat smelled room. I would be surprised if they have any martial arts background at all. Not recommended for REAL martial arts training. Also their prices are absurd for what you get. read more

PARENTS BEWARE. I'm so disappointed to have to write this review. Incredibly upsetting, because it involved my child, who is struggling. My son was initially signed up for classes last fall. He was going through a hard time. He had some trouble in school, and ended up only attending twice the first month. I called them and said look, he's just not coming. I'm sad to say it but we have to cancel. They made an effort to make him stay, but I said, I can't make him do it if he is not up for it. Come to find out, they continued to bill me monthly on a lost card I had to replace, and after five months I was contacted by a collections agency for hundreds of dollars--after attending only two classes. They told me I was not paying a monthly charge for unlimited classes, as I was told, but actually had signed a "contract" owing $2200 for "membership" that was divided into twelve payments (membership to what?--this is not a gym...?). I spoke to Chad, and after considerable back and forth, he said, if your son comes back to MMA, we will re-start the contract, that is the only option to eliminate the balance you owe. He told me that I would stay with his collections agency until that point. This was certainly not my ideal solution. I said I don't know if that is going to happen, but I guess I have no choice! SO here it is April, and my son says, I'd like to try it again, my friend is doing it. I said, ok, let me call them up. He left with the friend, to drive up there. I spoke to Chad, and said, "Hey, remember me, remember that you said we could come back and start where we left off?" This time, he says, "NO". Excuse me? He said, "You and I will not be entering into a contract together." WOW, really? Did I miss something here somewhere? He said, that was the offer then, and it is no longer possible. I spent five minutes saying, listen, this is a kid we are talking about, you can't put our differences aside? And I'm pretty sure I'm not the most difficult person he has dealt with--Nope. He did not budge. WOW.I do not understand how this place is still in business. It is so sad to me to see a business owner who is so unconcerned about his students! It really broke my heart. Update: My son went in to take class with his friend, expecting that I had resigned him up as Chad invited us to do. As my son was filling out the form, Chad walked up and pulled the application out of his hand and told him he would not be allowed to take class, because his "membership" had expired. You could not make this up. I am not sure what could be going on in his life to make him act this way toward his own students, a kid who did nothing wrong and a single mom who literally made a mistake (though I definitely think they misled me!!). We certainly are not the people you should be retaliating against, Chad. Poor form. read more

I joined Westchester MMA in March and I'm hooked ! I initially signed up under the fitness package which includes the FIT Heavy Bag Class, Cardio Kickboxing, KOGA and Bootcamp. Ive taken ALL the classes and am intrigued by the lessons, challenge and variety in workouts that they offer. From high intensity impact training on the heavy bags to heart pumping cardio class, the instructors motivate you to do your best and take on the challenge. I like how the FIT and bootcamp classes incorporate strength & circuit training involving plyometric and calisthenic moves. Coach Jay's FIT class almost always start out with a strength training circuit and ends with the use of Focus mitts. Taking Phabion's FIT classes..with his muay thai background, be prepared to practice a multitude of kicks! Sensei Chads FIT classes involve 5 round champion fighting circuits, easier said than done! And In cardio & KOGA class, Sifu Brandon attentively ensures that the students are using proper form, explaining its significance to avoid injuries. Bootcamp is now crosscamp, an exciting twist with cross fit. Within only 2 months of consistent training with WMMA I've seen and felt improvement in my level of fitness & physique. Having experienced positive results i only wanted to do more. The friendly & accomodating Instructors and staff suggested i try the Striking and Self Defense Class where i learned & gained confidence in ways to protect myself. The engaging 45 minute class ended before i knew it. This lead to taking the Jujitsu class where i grasped the value of patience and technicality. Since then, I've upgraded to the MMA package! Overall WMMA has helped me advance my level of fitness and increased my skill and knowledge in martial arts ...i recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, great and challenging workout while learning proper form and fighting/self defense technique! read more

As a parent of four children (daughters 12, 11, and 10 and a 6 year old son) progressing through the program at Westchester MMA, I would like to share my observations. My three daughters have markedly increased confidence and self-assurance after 18 months at the school. None of them showed any particular interest in athletics or fitness until we started them at Westchester MMA. That's now entirely changed. The program is rigorous but not violent. Yes if you choose kids can spar after learning the basics but sparring often entails many non contact instruction like grappling, etc. And even when they do spar, headgear and gloves really take most of the violence out of it. After two months of complaining when they first started now all my children are excited and enthusiastic about classes. It's comforting as a parent to know they can be confident in any situation and that they can stand their ground and protect themselves. The instructors are kind but not coddling. Students are expected to meet their responsibilities and the culture of the school re-enforces that. If you are a parent and are interested in the kind of peace of mind that comes with knowing your children will not be bullied or victimized, and all are interested in all the benefits associated with that, I suggest giving the program at westchester mma a try. And don't let them quit after a couple months, the benefits of sticking with it are plainly obvious. Watch their confidence grow. I've observed it not only in my own children, but watching other kids move through the program. read more
