I have had modern as my termite folks since 1985. I just recently found a couple roaches and called them immediately. Tony came to the house and treated for this problem. Then I had him spray my yard. No live bugs. Only a few dead ones. He came back for second treatment today. Usually three treatments are the norm but I only needed two. Tony was quick, efficient , informative and very kind and polite. Modern is the best! Its employees awesome. read more

We've been using Modern for over three years. When we moved in, the builder had a contract with May Exterminating and we were not pleased with their service. So, we switched to Modern and have been happy with their service. We had Devlin for a long time come & do our quarterly service but he moved...to Europe! So, our new rep is Robby and he's great. Just had him come & he was very responsive. Did inside, outside and even our garage & back screened in porch. Also showed me some tips on ridding our back porch area of pesky mice. I've seen some negative reviews, but our experience has been great & we'd highly recommend them! read more

Great experience! Isaiah was very professional and helpful! Very knowledgeable about the different types of insects and various baits. I highly recommend! Thank You! read more

I called them to make an appointment. They were supposed to call me back. After a month, they never did. I took my business elsewhere.

My experience with Modern was easy from beginning to end. Great customer service and lovely employees. I'd use them again.

Fast friendly professional termite service. I do recommend them for all your pest control services.

Wonderful, caring, and considerate service as always from Curtis. He has been our service tech for years now and is always fast, courteous, informative, and helpful. He calls exactly when we are supposed to be scheduled for service (every 3 months) and allows me to pick the dates and times I am available. He also arrives promptly and if he is running late he lets me know. He understands everyone's time is valuable and allots enough time to correctly handle any pest control issue he is handled. Thanks for the continuing friendly service. read more

One of the worst company in trying to get them back out to you home to do a follow up after the initial service. I have called numerous times to schedule and appointment for mold & pest control treatment. I keep getting a clueless receptionist on the telephone all she said I will have the technician call you. Okay I had been 4 weeks now and I haven't heard a peek. Remember I pay the initial fee on $375.00 dollars and they never done a follow up. I can't understand what happened to customer service. I can understand your company might be under staff, but that is not excuse for not being courtesy and just returning the calls. I won't be using this company ago and will send me business to the competition down in Wilmington which is a new company and hungry for the business. I will not be surprised when the employees start to leave this company or force to close their doors because of the lousy customer service. read more

I was new to the state and unsure what to expect, but knew right away I needed pest control here. Office was super friendly and sent someone out for estimate. My tech immediately identified all insects and treated them. Always available if any issues arise and very concerned about safety for dogs and children. You should absolutely call them if you need reliable and knowledgeable help. read more

Called and spoke with a young lady who was amazing and helpful! Living on the beach these water bugs and ants are atrocious and I can't stand it. So,it's time to knock it out with aggressive treatment! The exterminator came and sprayed on time and also went above and beyond which I so appreciate. The prices they have seem reasonable though I waited a few days for someone to call to make the appointment. I thought that was a bit weird, but that may be the way they work. There was a glitch and I received a bill in the mail from them which I owed nothing due to the fact I paid the exterminator on site here at our home. Thankfully I requested a receipt from him otherwise I'd have had to pay again. I ended up scanning the receipt to the office to prove I had paid cash. This glitch I didn't like so much because I don't personally like having to go back and do extra nonsense when I know I've paid and it wasn't on my end. Perhaps in the future that won't be a problem and it could have been a first I don't know. They are great and the only advice I can give is if you pay cash make sure that you request a receipt if a receipt isn't available figure out something to prove you've paid cash. I know people forget to turn in things sometimes , but mistakes like that can cause for people to be paying twice and a hassle to get a refund of money back. In other words a lot of unnecessary paper work etc... The 4 stars is only due to receiving a bill which I had paid and then having to prove I paid . I receive an email back from my scanned receipt from the exterminator that I had paid . Well of course I'd paid. ***Update*** Perhaps I spoke to soon I've had this far two appointments whereby the exterminator employee was a no show. This is simply unacceptable and therefore I must take away 2 stars from the 4 previously left. In calling to speak with someone in the office I was asked if I wanted the persons cell number to call them. Who does that? It's up to the employee to contact the customer if they aren't coming or delayed. It's never the customer job to do the work of locating the employee to see where they are. I'm simply taking aback by this service when it started of well. I guess the saying goes a good thing never last long and in this case it fits the bill. Disappointed. read more

pest tech came for initial visit he was very friendly, however about two weeks after service i was still having issues with water bugs, when the tech came at my initial he stated if i had a problem area just call the office and they would come back out. i have call the office several times even went into the office to ask if a tech could come back to my home all i got was somebody will call you and a answering machine message. Thus is going on three months They were happy to take my money but very sloppy and inconsiderate with customer service. i would not recommend this company to any one. read more

I have used Modern Exterminating for over 10 yrs and I just can't say enough about my Pest control person Joe. I'm on a quarterly spray and he always calls to remind me it is time. He always goes that extra mile to ensure I'm satisfied with the service. If I have an issue he will come back to ensure it is taken care of. He has also educated me about the different kind of roaches which ended up paying off and saved me a lit of money in the long run. He has excellent time management skills if he says he will be there at 430 then he will be there at 425 to ensure he is on time. I would highly recommend Joe to anyone. read more

They are phenomenal. Quick service when I need an unplanned spray for bugs or spiders. Their work is always immediately effective (which is a huge relief). They've been servicing my home since 2008 and Ive had nothing but great experiences from then until now. read more

Very knowledgeable! Helped us develop a good plan for our future exterminating needs. Very personable. Extremely satisfied! Would highly recommend modern Exterminating Company. Michael Burch was phenomenal he explained the entire process and talked us through each step. I highly recommend requesting Michael Burch when using this company. read more

I have used Modern Exterminating for over 20 years to do an annual termite inspection at my home in Sneads Ferry. Over all those years the technician never once mentioned to me that there was extensive rot in my floor joists (which is where you would look for termites). I did not see him on every visit but when I did I would ask him if all was well under the house and the answer was always "yes, it's fine." Now I am facing a huge bill to repair this damage which could have been avoided had the technician just bothered to mention to me that there was a rot problem under the house. Don't go near this company. read more

Josh came and did our inspection and he was great! Super friendly professional and caring! Definitely a pleasure and great experience thanks you read more

We began using Modern for our termite bonding just a couple of years ago following a recommendation from Jarman Pest Control. I have been so pleased with our service. They are extremely accommodating and reasonably priced. We accidentally missed the due date for our contract renewal this year by about a month, and they were kind enough to schedule for their inspector to come out quickly with no additional fees other than our yearly termite contract amount. I had that happen with another company, and they wanted to charge us $500 just to come out and inspect. We are so pleased with the services we have received from Modern, and their employees are always professional and friendly. I recommend them to everyone who asks, and when we move, we will continue to use their services with our new home. read more

This is the best exterminating company. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Very friendly and very polite to everyone

Super polite and knowledgeable. The technician that came out was the true example of a professional. Thank you Josh!

Very professional services every time by Mike. He takes great pride in ensuring that the job is done correctly during the quarterly treatments to our house and is a super nice person in general. I highly recommend. read more

Always thorough, always courteous, professional & on time! Joe Miller does an excellent job & is a great guy! We've been with Modern over 6 years. He's knowledgeable, respects your time and is careful in your home. read more

Absolutely blown away by the business ethics of this company. Charged me for the previous owners fees and instead of changing the costs they told me it was a "reinstatement" fee instead yet the charges never changed. Never paid the $300 charge for one year and they sent it to collections without a contract but just a receipt for inspection to make sure there are no termites. Be careful using this company do not sign anything unless you plan to use them! read more

Modern exterminating is a great business here in Jacksonville. They are friendly, fast and efficient. Joe has come to our house only twice since we moved back here and he's great! Making payment is also easy, after they treat your house/property, they write you a receipt and you can call to make a payment with your card. They also have plans that are cheaper than if you were to have them come out randomly. If you are looking for pest control in this area, this is it! read more

Be careful when their exterminators come out to give you a quote, I asked for one and when he was done he told me how much it would be and that I could make payments pay as much and when I wanted but did not tell me that the tiny paper I signed meant that I was accepting the service even though I never once told him I did. That paper is apparently their contract. This was my first time and the extermintors job of decades who failed to make it clear what i was signing, and the owner was not willing to hear anything else other than I signed the paper. Lesson learned and I owe them $400 plus for the contract which they will not honor until its paid in full. read more

I have had this company for termite control for close to a decade. Every year they supposedly come to inspect and every year no issues. This year I go to sell my property they list nine major issues that they need corrected in order to transfer my contract to the new buyer. I asked them to send a different inspector out to conduct a re-inspection. They said no because the inspector will already know what the first inspector sighted. I pointed out the obvious and told them to not tell the second inspector what the first inspector noted. This only confused them; and yes the owner of the company was consulted during this phone conversation. Can anyone say lawsuit? read more

I recently used Modern Exterminators in Jacksonville, NC, and I will NEVER use their service again. They came on a Friday to spray for roaches and other bugs that we were seeing in the summer months. They sprayed inside and outside our house and charged us $80. Everything was good until Saturday night when we caught our dog (sheltie) licking the wall. We started to put him in the cage when we couldn't watch him. Then he started to throw up that night! We put him outside and he started to eat grass like it was candy. Modern Exterminators reassured me twice that the spray was "pet friendly" so I figured it would be fine for them to spray inside. I know it is not good for my dog to be licking the chemicals off the carpet, but I feel as if they should have given me more information on what chemicals they were using and to keep pets and small children AWAY from it. It was a Saturday night so I couldn't call them to ask what the chemicals were to tell the vet. They discounted us only $25! We don't feel like they really CARE about their customers. They just want to make $$$. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I advise you to SAY AWAY! Go somewhere that actually cares about your family, and who you can trust! If anyone has used any SAFE exterminators in the Jacksonville area let us know. Good luck. w helps others learn about great local businesses. read more

I called for over two months to their office with a promise that a technician would call back. I still have not heard anything from them. This company was recommended to me by our landlord, but obviously they don't want my business. I guess I'm really glad after I read their horrible reviews. Don't worry Modern Exterminating; you've been exterminated! They got one star for at least a secretary answering the phone. read more

Modern exterminating is a piss poor excuse for a company I have a big section of land here in town and had modern come Spray one time on my property and told me it was good for a year and also told us that it would kill fleas ticks mosquitoes and all creepy crawlies here it is 6 months later they have not been out and said that they never agreed for service for a full year and rusty is a piece of s*** who cannot tell the truth I spoke with the owners wife today finally after months of getting them out here and had to really cuss at them because they basically told me and my wife that we are s*** out of luck on our $375 and they won't come finish the job rusty is the one who did my initial evaluation and told me the service was good for a year and evidently that was bullshit too this company has no clue what each other is doing and do not stand behind their work I don't know where all these good reviews are coming from it must be somebody in the company typing them because I am a paying customer and me and my wife are completely unhappy with their service if you're smart about it you will never use modern they don't stand behind their work and way overpriced they robbed me and my wife for $375 for one spraying.. I thought it would do some good to call and talk to the owners but let me tell you right now that's just enough to piss you off when you call a company that you've already paid for their service and they say sorry no money back and we are not going to help you what a piece of s*** company...I feel so sorry for.my dogs..I've tried all flea treatment to kill em off.... Its pretty bad because I paid this piece of s*** company to keep fleas and ticks off of my dogs then they tried to tell me it would be extra hundreds of dollars to treat for fleas read more
