They're fair and honest: I brought in a quote from another shop that seemed suspicious and they immediately pointed out what was unnecessary and gave me fair prices for everything else. Most of all, they're excellent mechanics: My breaks had been worked on before at another shop and always seemed low and spongy, I asked them if the break performance could be improved because the car was starting to feel unsafe. When I got it back the breaks were 100% improved, they finally felt right! Thank you CJ's, I won't be taking my car anywhere else.

Started going about 3 years ago on a recommendation from a friend because another shop wanted me to replace my timing belt. Such an expensive repair for a 5 year old car. Being a single female parent with a tight budget I was devastated. I went there for a second opinion, and maybe a better price. Jeff looked at it right away and he found a LOOSE belt. I don't remember what it was I paid, maybe $20.00? It definitely wasn't the timing belt that I was going to put on my credit card for what I think was going to be over $1000.00!!

John is the owner and he will give it to you straight if something needs fixing or not. I've been taking my car, my wife's car, my two kids cars there for the past 25 years. They are so easy to talk to and when I have a problem with my cars, I either take my car to them (call them first because they have so much business) or have it towed by AAA (which has been done many times). I leave it, they check it out and when they find what the problem is, they call you to tell you and tell you the price. If you want it done, they will do it but they won't work on it until they get permission from you. I have a clear head when I take my cars to them. I don't worry about nothing. I bought a 1999 Honda Civic back in 2000 with 18,000 miles on it from John Lant who used to own the dealership there. After 297,000 miles, the guys could not do anything more for my car. Yes, it finally died with the original clutch in it. These guys don't work weekends. Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. That is how good their business is. I have a 95 Ford F150 Truck that i brought in for an inspection, and told them to do a complete…read moretune up on the truck. At one time my parents used Gary to do some work on their car. I am 73 years old a vet just like Gary, I have done businesses with him in the passed but he did not remember me. They told me a few months back my truck would not pass inspection due to the frame being rusted, so they recommended someone and I had it welded. Brought it back passed inspection, asked them to do a complete tune up they called me back and told me I had a compression issue on all the cylinders on the drivers side of the truck 80-120lbs. and told me they didn't recommend going any further and my engine was shot. He charged me 298, for inspection and doing the compression test. in my previous years I worked on my own vehicles, I felt something was not right on this. I confronted Gary, and asked him what cylinders had the compression leak, got a little upset and told me all 4 on drivers side and told me I had a bad engine. I have had this truck since 1995 bought it in Tampa FL new. I was rusty and looked like an old truck since i dont use it much. But, I thought the engine was not that bad. I brought it IoIcon Auto Repair right down the road that do engine work. Child's does not do major engine work, and Icon Auto does. I pulled my truck into Icon the next day, when they popped the hud my distributor and ignition were loose and almost came right off. That threw off the compression right their. I left the truck their, the next day he looked at it and called me and said nothing was done on the vehicle, the plugs looked like they never where removed and they where in their for years. My distributor and ignition was damaged so they replace it, did the tune up and replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor the truck now is running as new. No bad engine that I was told by Gary the owner of Childs Automotive. I will never bring my car to Childs Automotive, I felt Gary was arrogant and very unprofessional when i confronted him about the situation. Plus, he hung up one me because i asked what mechanic worked on that car. As a fellow vet, you did me wrong. Icon Auto Repair & Collusion treated my old truck and myself with professionalism. Some people like their old trucks even if it does not look that great. Gary, you need to evaluate your mechanics and even yourself. Todd, is much better in getting along with people then yourself. Gary, you need to look in the mirror and evaluate yourself, your people skills are off. You lost a customer and his family and friends. Good luck to you!
