It's a travel plaza. It has a fairly clean rest room, a variety of overpriced food to choose from and it offers a place to pull off the road and take a little break. Parking lot is well lit with plenty of spaces. And that's alll I have to say about that. read more

This was a barn style food court rest stop. There are a few types of recycling bins in front of the barn before you walk in. Looks are deceiving. There was only one restaurant, which was closed in the evening, surrounded by abandoned booths. The gift shop was open and well stocked with snacks and souvenirs. There are lots of stalls and sinks in the women's restroom, but most are out of order. Many rest stoppers looked confused and wandered to the nice seating area. This rest area is a remnant of a bygone era, where a discarded and mangled drive-thru menu remains outside, worn down by the harsh New York elements. read more

Absolutely not a place you want to take a rest. There are No restaurants there. There is a convenience store that sells snacks, drinks, misc stuff. There is garbage on the floor and unclea. The rest rooms are 1/2 out od order, filthy and i would not go alone. There is a sign that says they are int eh process of revitalization- Its dark,dreary and looks like the closures affected this place to. There is a lady outside with a private table who sells stuff she made. She had loaves, muffins, donuts, dehydrated apple chips, and bottles of honey,dressings, apple and pumpkin bitter. I am not sure this is a regulated or a place they are aware is selling to the public. I am not sure of the safety. I didnt want to take a risk. read more

This is another regular stop of mine since I'm up and down 87 frequently. It's not fabulous, but they have bathrooms that definitely needed some attention...which I guess they're getting now as there's some construction going on. There are a few fast food options, a seating area and a small store that sells chips, candy and trinkets. Let's see what the restrooms look like after the (literal) dust settles. read more

A pretty basic plaza with Moe's southwest Grille, McDonald's, Uno, a Carvel and a small convenience shop. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and it seemed reasonably clean. There wasn't an easy way to get from the gas station back to general parking, so stop first and then get gas. read more

The New York State Thruway, at least the portion from Albany southbound, does a great job with rest areas. It's a controlled access highway, so you don't want to exit and get back on. Instead, they have these "captive audience" travel plazas where you can pull over, get a snack, visit a relatively clean bathroom, perhaps buy some not-too-expensive fuel, and easily get back on the highway. No muss or fuss, no traffic lights to deal with and limited turns. These plazas are for cars and trucks with separate parking. Expect fast food, coffee and bathrooms, as we did in this one. This travel plaza is convenient, and is evidently a popular spot for motorists. It also has quite a variety of dining options for the busy traveler. Based on the lines, I'd assume Moe's is the most popular choice, but we didn't eat here. It was crowded, claustrophobia-inducing, and smelled weird. I couldn't wait to get back outside, where the aroma of fuel and asphalt was widely preferable to the alternative. If the restrooms had been cleaner, this would be a three star review. A must in my book -- you've got to have clean restrooms that don't smell bad. Trash everywhere, toilets overflowing and clogged (hence the smell, I assume) and very, very crowded. A world of ick. That said, the outside area is nicely landscaped. Gas prices were reasonable for the area and there was no waiting for a pump. read more

Dropping the kids off at the pool! Yup, it's another rest stop we hit driving back down south I87 from Montreal to NYC. Clean bathrooms. A convenience store to pick up some snacks and play the lottery. Some places to grab a bite such as McDonald's, Pizza, Moe's Southwest Grill, Carvel. Gas station. Strange, no coffee joint. McD's coffee is the only real choice to get a caffeine jolt. clean seating area too. As far as a rest stop it serves it's purpose and beats some of the nasty ones on the Jersey Turnpike! read more

As far as the rest stops go, this one is excellent. Has a big, spacious, open and airy dining area centrally located in the building. Good variety of food to purchase. A nice souvenir shop where are you can even buy an EZ pass. (but you still have to register it online and wait a day to use it!) ATM, of course. Free Wi-Fi. Large bathroom facilities. Plenty of parking, and attractive outdoor sitting/picnic area too. Check out the historical markers. The only thing that was missing was a phone charging station. This would be an excellent stop if you have kids with you, but be prepared to get out the wallet. read more

The restaurants portions of this are okay and the outside is lovely, but the restrooms....let's just say I've experience more gracious accommodations in Turkey! Men's room is small, the doors to the stall don't close correctly and in something that could only be described as fiendishly evil after a long night of drinking and eating high fat foods, there was no toilet paper in my stall. Luckily I had a lot of napkins from Starbucks in my pocket but the alternative would have been particularly objectionable. Sorry Modena, I think it's in the US Constitution that there has to be TP in every bathroom stall on the Thruway, so until you can guarantee me my rights, I can't go above two stars. read more

I stopped in to stretch, use the facilities, and get a beverage as I was headed southbound toward I-84/I-81. This is a full service rest area - with a number of vendors, including: McDonald's, Pizzeria Uno, Carvel, LavAzza, and Moe's Southwest Grill. There is also a convenience store, restrooms, an ATM, a Sunoco gas station, areas to walk around... No coffee shop though! You'll have to buy your coffee from McDonald's! Restrooms were clean. The better service stop compared to the other one on the other side of the Thruway going North. The lineup here is stacked: Uno, McDonald's, and Moe's. Who ever had the balls to open an Uno and Moe's at a rest stop, I applaud you. The bathroom facility is pretty decent as well as it is pretty tidy for a public restroom. read more

Absolutely terrible there's no food places open anymore. The restrooms are very run down. There's a food truck outside Dutchess dog house, DO NOT GET ANYTHING THERE!!!! The food was not good, burnt and the prices they are charges should be against the law! if you can stop before this rest stop. read more

Modena travel plaza is a small travel service spot that is not too good or bad for clean restroom and food. Like to sign outside there are not a lot of choices to choose for food and drink. Like I said it's better than nothing for a spot to relax during traveling on an expressway. read more

Bathrooms filthy! Toilet paper everywhere, toilets not flushing. Everything was closed, with no indication on highway sign of hours of operation or i would have kept going. Waste of time. Vending machines at least took credit cards if you had no change. read more

I don't eat fast food but I do not stop often when I'm traveling to use the restroom!!! I'm thankful that thus location has Lavazzia coffee because I had a superb cappuccino that was exactly what I needed for a pick me up driving home from Albany!! Okay, so it's a rest stop so expectations weren't high. But the Moe's was disgusting and my choices were limited. I submitted feedback and was impressed that the manager called to apologize, so I guess they are working on it. But even the McDonald's seemed dead and they ran out of sweet tea. Bathrooms were clean. There were many convenient items at the convenience store. I'd go back again only because it's right off the highway. read more

Hey, why not review a rest stop? It was a good halfway point for me as I was traveling from Roxbury back to NYC. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean (enough), the WiFi worked well, I got a passable quesadilla from Moe's, the beau got to indulge in a double hamburger meal from McDonald's, and there was even a cute little farm stand outside of the entrance of the building. I wasn't expecting to leave the rest area with a jar of local strawberry rhubarb jam, but, I did. Ha! This is a nice rest stop for when you need a break from the road, most definitely, and most obviously. read more

It's a rest stop, travel plaza, whatever you want to call it. Kudos for having a convenience store inside. As far as the bathrooms go, I don't expect concierge service, but they need work. Still, if you've been sitting in Thruway traffic for hours and you really gotta go, it works. They advertise free wi-fi, but my old iPhone got better performance via 3G, after fiddling with the wi-fi for ten minutes getting it to work. Don't bother. read more

It gets a little crowded in here when it's busy, so you have to meander a bit to get around. The rest rooms are functional but need more maintenance. A lot of the sinks, which are motion sensitive, require a lot of motion to get the water running (and not that fast). One thing I do like here is that they have a Moe's. I'm not a huge fan of Moe's, but I'll take Moe's any day over McDonald's (which they also have here). read more

It's been a little while since I had stopped into this service plaza, but on my recent visit TONIGHT when wishing to find "some new restaurant" that was "just a little something different", I was a little unfazed. It seemed rather dull and not very crowded at all. The shops weren't open for very long after we obtained the food at the Pizzeria Uno location (my problem was with the food there). They seem to focus more on keeping the place clean in here than they are about the guests already present. In various knicks and crannies, I saw various others cleaning up the floor (including in the unseen restrooms). THe floor was spotless, but here they were they kept cleaning the floor. "Leave the clean floor alone: it's clean already..." Although the last time I came by here (before today's visit) was in mid-February 2017 when pulling over to turn on navigation to the Middletown Old Navy location (that I could later tell was desperately needed), today's really made me think: New York seems to need more oddball restaurants (sort-of like Roy Rogers) in more of it's Travel Plaza's (I'm sorry; I know Sloatsburgh/Plattekill in the Northbound area has a Roy Rogers, but we were traveling South at the time). And by the way, the automatic waterfountain that's near Pizzeria Uno wasn't spurting out cold water no matter how long I stood there and waited for it to. Give us more choices, New York! I'm sick of McDonalds, and the Mexican in Moe's as well as Pizza in Pizzeria Uno just wasn't me tonight. read more

Got coffee at McDs drivethu 2 large coffees were over 5 bucks. I ordered light and sweet got dark with no sugar. People around there complain they have no jobs. Even in Mcds they are incompetents. read more

The building itself is pretty cool, but that's about it. The bathrooms are decent. The food is pretty bad anywhere you go in here. Best bet is probably the vending machines. read more
