Dr Willman is no longer with the practice. Huge, enormous, gigantic loss for Pima Dental. About four months ago, I returned because I needed to molars extracted. Let me note that after the extractions I had fully intended beginning work on all my lower teeth, fully expecting to make another substantial investment. This practice is not inexpensive... in my view it is extremely overpriced (especially after I share what happened below). I was prepared to pay another substantial amount to complete my treatment. I did miss one appointment due to a personal emergency. I attempted to call but was unable to get through, and at the time my focus understandably had to be on the emergency. At my next scheduled appointment, I drove over 45 minutes from north Phoenix. I arrived and had X-rays done, and then met with a dentist who informed me that two teeth would need to be extracted by an oral surgeon and that the procedure could not be done there. While the dentist was courteous, the appointment ultimately resulted in a two-hour round trip simply to be referred elsewhere. I wish this had been communicated to me beforehand. As I was leaving, I was stunned when I was told not to leave and was informed that I owed a $50 missed-appointment fee. Mandy, the office manager, whom I had worked with before made it be known that I needed to pay $50. What disappointed me most was not the amount itself, but the complete lack of empathy or discretion--especially toward a long-standing patient who had already invested heavily in the practice and was prepared to invest significantly more. I understand that offices have cancellation policies. However, patient relationships should involve more than strict enforcement of fees. In my experience, this practice places profits above patient goodwill and patient satisfaction. Between the high costs of treatment and the rigid handling of this situation, it left me feeling that policies mattered more than people. As a business owner myself, I believe long-term trust, empathy, and relationships are what sustain a practice--not nickel-and-diming loyal patients. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to seek care elsewhere for the remainder of my treatment, and I will not be recommending this office moving forward ever again! I hope this feedback is taken constructively. My initial experience here was excellent, attributed primarily to Dr Willman, which makes this outcome all the more disappointing.

I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

He is knowledgeable and professional and always takes time to check in, even during routine cleanings. I usually don't wait more than 5 minutes for my appointments. There have been times where I needed immediate dental care and they are able to work with you to fit you in as quickly as possible. I have recommended him to many people throughout the last 8 years! At a previous dental office in Miami I had a terrible experience that started with a routine cleaning that turned into a root canal 6 hours later and left me with significant anxiety with all things dental related. I found out a few years later after moving to Arizona that the root canal was not performed correctly and I had to get it re-done. Dr. Ngo is incredible at calming nerves and making you feel safe when in uncomfortable situations, especially with anxiety. He talks through every step in advance and during the procedures, so that there are no surprises. He takes extra time when numbing the mouth so that the pain is tolerable and at times barely noticeable. I really appreciate this and feel like it's rare to find. I highly recommend Dr. Ngo and S&L Dental for all your dental needs.

I needed a cleaning, and booked in with Scottsdale Modern Dentistry right before a trip. I had a set appointment, and expected to be in and out in a reasonable time, seeing as this was just a regularly scheduled cleaning. All of the paperwork was digital, which led me to believe that this was going to be a quick and painless appointment. That assumption was completely wrong. After a through exam (which is fine) they proceeded to tell me everything about my teeth, as well as showed blown up images to elaborate why they needed need to come back for other treatments. Needless to say, getting an appointment in for a trip, I was expecting to process through this quickly. After the coordinator came in and went over the "treatment plan" with me, she alluded that there were multiple things that they wanted to have done urgently, and tried to book my follow ups before the teeth cleaning I was only there for, happened. When I mentioned that I wanted a second opinion, the mood changed. It became a, let's get you out of here quickly, but not before trying to tack on another $200 onto the cleaning for a so called, deep clean. After 75 minutes, they started to commence with the cleaning, which is about the point I realized what time it was. I had given an hour and a half for what typically is a 40 to 50 minute teeth cleaning, and had to completely cut short the original reason that I was there. They decided to focus on the upsell, and not the task at hand. The dentist was very professional, but very young and inexperienced. I would say he would thrive in a different environment, outside of a corporate entity like this. These corporations seem to focus specifically on revenue, and this operation is the reason that dentists have a bad wrap lately. I called after my following appointments, to try and reschedule for the same day, and even calling an hour before they closed, they told me that they would not consider seeing me, and I would need to call back to book the next day. They wouldn't even book on the phone. Again, the entire demeanor had changed once I had pushed back on a treatment plan, and I would not recommend this location to anyone. I called another private practice (dentist) right after I got off the phone, and was able to book an appointment the next morning. They struggled to get my x-rays, as there were a number of hoops they had to jump through, and have me authorize everything, while I was sitting in the dentist chair, getting the teeth cleaning that I expected to have the day before. I know, I will be anticipating them trying to bill my insurance company for the entire cleaning, and having to fight that through the dental board. Please stay away from this business, and if you do end up going here, clench your pocketbook tightly through the entire stay.
