Oh what a night! It's an absolute must!…read more Absolutely love this comedy show!!!!! I've come here regularly over the last 10 years or so and have seen amazing comics such as Mark Christopher Lawrence, Jerrod Carmichael, Anjelah Johnson, Cheeto Santino, Jonny Loquasto, Michael Kosta, Melissa Villaseñor, Alonzo Bodden, Shawn Pelofsky, Tony Baker, Adam Ray, Jesse Egan, Zoltan Kaszas, Mal Hall, and so many more! For the price, it's priceless. No drink minimums, stellar atmosphere, and just an overall great place to bring a date, a friend, or even your parents. I've seen bachelor/bachelorette parties, coworker gatherings, and a slew of birthdays all being celebrated here. Honestly there's not a lot of better places to spend 7-30pm-9:30pm on a Friday night (shows are typically once a month on the last Friday of the month). Head downtown, grab some dinner, come to the show, and then you can party the night away in the beautiful Gaslamp Quarter. If you're up for a night of LAUGHS come here and you won't be disappointed! Check online below for details and tickets. I think the next show is 09-24-21. https://malhall.com/gaslamp-comedy-show HUUUUGE thanks to Mal Hall and The Tipsy Crow.

Super funny and unique comedy experience located in the basement of the Tipsy Crow…read more I caught Mal for the first time as the opener for Anjelah Johnson and my whole group was laughing so hard that we cried. I've been wanting to check out another show with him for awhile so I was excited when I saw The Gaslamp Comedy Show featured on his Instagram. We had a rotating group of fresh, upcoming comedians who were working out their material. We were an intimate group and it was a different experience watching them quickly pivot or adjust based on how the crowd was interacting with the jokes. 5/5, we'll definitely be back.

I had an amazing night visiting from out of state. First off the place has a charming old tavern…read morelook about it which I like. The stage has your classic set up for comedy with a brick wall background. The food was your average pub food. Nothing amazing but still tasty. I got the ballpark nachos and a double "whiskey dick". The drink was great so I ordered another (not a double) that was also great. My server Colette was fantastic. This place really seems to choose it's staff well because it really seemed like she fit the venue. She was sharp and witty, accurate with my order and showed genuine care about the service she provided. 5 stars

I love comedy - can't stand this place. I've been here twice - most recently last night. Last night…read morewe stood in line for an hour - didn't get seated until after the show was supposed to start. The seating is terrible unless you're in the very front. All I saw last night was a pole, the back of heads, and a small glimpse of the comedians if they moved to just the right angle. I saw the owner made fun of someone for posting on here that their food purchase didn't count towards the 2 drink minimum and well.....that's cool and all - but most places that have a minimum count the food as one of the items. The 1st time I saw a show here, I went with a friend who was breastfeeding and they wouldn't let her nonalcoholic drinks or food count towards the 2 drink min. They also charge you 22% gratuity automatically as well as a service charge. The staff is nice, it's cleaner than The Store, and they have some good acts but honestly - I'll take any other comedy spot over this one.

I've been to two comedy shows here. The first was Jim Jefferies, and he was absolutely hilarious…read more The second show featured several comedians, but unfortunately I didn't find any of them particularly funny. Like most comedy clubs, they have a two-drink minimum. While that's pretty standard, it still feels excessive when you've already paid for admission. The prices were the biggest downside. Craft beers were around $16 each, and we ordered a plate of sliders that cost $20. The sliders were mediocre at best. We each only had one drink, but because of the two-drink minimum, we were charged for an additional drink each and not a cheaper drink for only having ordered one. By the end of the night, my bill was over $145 for a few drinks and sliders. At those prices, I'd rather spend my money seeing a more well-known comedian. They do occasionally bring in bigger names, which is a plus, but for me, the overall experience just isn't worth the cost. I was also disappointed with the service. I wanted to pay for just one person's drink in our group, but because my card was on file, they charged everyone's drinks to my tab. When I asked to split the charges separately, I was told they couldn't do it. That left a bad impression and made the experience even more frustrating. Not to mention, there's a 22% gratuity automatically added to your bill. Gratuity depends on the service being provided so this should be up to the customer's discretion.

05/01/26 - We came here as part of my friend's birthday celebration. This was my first time here,…read morebut she's been here before. Here are some details: Parking - Recommend parking in the Horton Parking structure. It is literally right across from this place. Forgot how much we paid but it wasn't ridiculously priced. There are also metered parking around the area. Staff - Staff receiving the customers were friendly, they offer 50% military discount, so definitely take advantage of that. Our hostess was very nice and checked in on us always. There is a two-drink minimum here with the show, it could be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Show itself was great. We enjoyed the featured comics. The only thing that I felt awkward about, was the host. I felt like she was out of it and was awkward, but not a deal breaker. Highly recommend trying this spot. Unfortunately, they do not serve food but there are restaurants around the area.

They were all great, I believe there were six and all had great performances. Our waitress was fun, attentive and brought our drinks out in minimal time. It's a two drink minimum, and the place was full. Everyone laughed, participated and had one heck of a fun night! We highly recommend a night at Mad House Comedy Club! Enjoy

First visit here on a Sunday night to support my girl Ms. Val. Assigned seating was silly business…read more I understand why but I still don't like it, especially with such a small group open seating limited to a section would have been appreciated. It was cool to see a diverse line-up. Wish they included more female comedians, so many great ones out here! Service was good. Drinks were served with a smile. I appreciated that there were more than just two NA drink options. Bathrooms were clean, but only one dispenser had soap. Providing some snack options would be nice or permit outside food. Maybe partner with a neighboring Taqueria or Pizzeria. I was hungry again by the end of the show.

I had a wonderful evening at the National Comedy Theatre. This was my first improv show ever, but…read moreas a huge Who's Line is It Anyways fan, I knew I was in for a treat. The theatre is small and tucked away near a British pub. Parking is rough on the busy streets but we found a spot in the residential area nearby. We arrived close to the start of the show, so there was not a long wait to check in. The process was quick and they sell reasonably priced popcorn and drinks in the entryway. They do open seating in the very small, intimate theater. The show started promptly and the energy was so fun. The host was high energy and both teams gave it their all. Essentially, the two teams compete against each other with the voting being done by audience cheers. I'm glad to say that the team I was rooting for won! Throughout the show, they would often invite audience participation but they do not force it on anyone, and it is all very good natured. Time flew by and there was a 15 min intermission in the middle. The bathroom is outside the theater and there were staff member standing by to direct lost patrons. At the end of the show, the cast members stood by the exit to chat, and accept congratulations and high-fives as we left. I had a great first live comedy experience at the National Comedy Theatre, and I would love to attend more of their shows in the future!

Came here to support a friend who was in level 3 improv and so glad I came to experience this…read more If you can believe it, I have never seen improv before. I have seen shows like Who's Line is it Anyways? but never really had an opportunity to see improv (until now). On Sundays, this place can be closed but because students were performing, I came to see a 9pm show. Parking in the area is a disaster, seems San Diego wants to charge for parking everywhere. I did find a spot on the street which doesn't charge on Sundays. Friend did a good job with improv and the starting theme was laundry which moved on to disappearing socks, stealing socks, etc. I enjoyed the half hour improv. They also offer a free class if you were interested in improv classes and all the staff here very friendly and warm. Overall, a fun experience, got me out of my comfort zone and now I can say I have seen improv live. Id come back here again to see another show.

I would have appreciated a mix of being supportive, but also offering helpful suggestions.
