The space is small but they make up for it in the selection. I saw everything from old david bowie to the Lumineers and the black keys. The only catch is the price. All of the mint stuff is 20 and up which is basically all of it. I usually go to rtx as the prices are better but when I need something current this is my spot. read more

I live in the area and to have Dempsey's shop right here in town is awesome. He has a great selection and if you want something the he doesn't have, he'll order it. You can tell he just loves music because he has a selection from Elvis and the Beatles to WuTang and Jay Z, and literally everything in between. The kicker is that his store is right next to the amazing De Clieu coffee shop, the pairing was a match made in heaven! read more

I found an awesome slipmat here that made a great holiday gift. Love the logo which is also printed on tshirts for sale. The owners are super friendly and very knowledgable. There's also a cute coffee shop adjoining the store. This shop is a solid addition to Fairfax City. read more

So today was my first time and not my last time in this store. First the guy working there is extremely nice and you can ask him about 99% of the records and he'll tell you about the artist and album. It's actually impressive. He was also very welcoming and extremely helpful. When you first walk in check out the shirts to the left there is an awesome selection, if I could id buy all the shirts in my size, he also had some very unknown band tees so that was cool and at great prices, oh and the Mobius Record shirts have some variety which is also very cool. Then you'll see the patches and pins, all cheap and must haves. Then the record selection. Too much to say. So many records I thought were no longer around but there they are at affordable prices. Honestly I'm never going to another record store. Mobius Records is the best record store in all of northern Virginia and DC. So don't hesitate, go. Usually I dont feel so strongly about record stores but this is an amazing place, @gain, a must go. You'll never go to another record store. read more

Very thorough selection of new and used vinyl. I've purchased everything from Fugazi to J Dilla here. The owner will also special order.

Vinyl is back and this is THE store to score them at. Highly recommended for the large selection of vintage jazz and great rock. read more

Mobius Records - Just some of the great selection. - Vinyl Records Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

By far the best record store I've ever been in. They had records that I would've never thought would've been in the store. A+ selection and the owner was extremely nice. The prices were also amazing and there is a free parking lot right next to the store. I also got a free slipmat because I spent $100. Overall a great experience. read more

The store is small but the atmosphere is great- It's very clean, comfortable, and relaxed, and the staff is knowledgeable and, perhaps most importantly to me, super friendly. Pricing is very reasonable and while their selection isn't huge it's extremely strong- They seem to know which records are worth stocking, so you won't have to sift through scores of used Eagles and Doobie Brothers records to find the good stuff. I can usually find something I've been seeking for a while and I can always find something good. This isn't the place to go to hunt through huge piles of old used records for hidden gems, but it's an awesome store with a great selection. read more

Very down to earth staff & sweet records. Up to date stuff, and of course the classics. They have everything and they give out a really adorable sticker after buying something. They also have some clothing for sale- not that big of a selection but you can find some stuff in there. The last time I went about a month or two ago, a guy (I guess he was working there idk) gave me his mixtape which was um... unique to say the least. A great stop in my opinion!! read more

Seriously fantastic store - thanks to the excellent staff, I've been introduced to such good, new music that I would have not necessarily found on my own in this lifetime. Their fresh used inventory turns over all the time and I've found treasures galore. Also, I bought my first turntable upgrade from them and they threw in an awesome slip mat. read more

This is one of my favorite records stores in NOVA. Very well organized and you will always feel welcomed! Found 5 records the day I stopped by in the gently used pile and they had a variety of genres and artists. Love this place! read more

Mobius is by far the best record store I've been to. Dempsey and the entire staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, and happy to help. All of the used records are in great shape (and if they aren't, they're noted as such), and there's a vast selection of new records. It's a small shop, but still feels relatively spacious. I have never had a bad experience at Mobius, and even when I move out of Fairfax I will make the trip back just to visit this shop. It is my all-time favorite record store. Do yourself a favor: check out Mobius. read more

Cozy and well-lit. Most of what I saw was reissued new vinyl so not a place for crate digging. Rock, Jazz, & Soul; hip-hop was virtually non-existant. RTX Records (Record & Tape Exchange) is only 5 minutes away and has at least triple the selection but they are weak in hip-hop also. Going 4 stars here because of the effort. read more

I was happy to find all new vinyls I was looking for. I was even happier to look through the great and varied selection of $3-$5 used albums and walk away with a good stack. I'll certainly be back. read more

At 4 o'clock on Sunday, February 14, I surprised my family with a record player. Then the realization set in that we would have to go home and stare at the record player with nothing to put on it. I called Mobius Records and they told me they would be open until five, we frantically drove from fair Lakes to old town Fairfax, in hopes that we would have 10 minutes to pick out a couple records. When we got there, we were amazed at the perfectly perfect shop. After cruising through the new releases, I was completely happy to sort through the vintage vinyl. My stepson however asked the highly knowledgeable person working there, I believe his name is Josh, what he should listen to. He spent well over a half an hour educating my 15-year-old stepson on interesting bands, listening to his favorites, trying to give him a new perspective and my stepson walked out of there completely empowered and proud of his choices. My six year old daughter chilled out on the comfy chair in the corner, my husband picked out a shirt and we all left there feeling old school record shop cool! Do yourself a favor and stop in there with more than A half an hour to spend! Nice work, great store! read more

The people at Mobius helped me find a special John Coltrane record, a new release. I was so happy I bought two. It was impossible online to figure out the authentic release. I liked that they were so helpful and I liked what I purchased. read more

This place is amazing! I'm a vinyl junkie and this is easily the best record store in the area! They have an enormous selection of both new and used records and even some bootlegs as well. I was almost overwhelmed picking titles out. You can find everything from cheap classic rock records to Alternative and Hip Hop. They also sell turntables as well. The owner was extremely friendly and loves to talk about music with customers. It's hard to find record stores around these days and this one is fairly new. I will continue to and highly urge everyone to support this place! There are very few like it still around! read more

Mobius is the best place to buy records in Fairfax. Great selection of new stuff and used.

Best record store in Northern Virginia and it's not even close. They have the best prices on new and sealed vinyl - and I've done the comparison shopping. They are mostly for new and sealed vinyl, however they have a small and slowly growing used selection as well. They have a diverse selection, a great location, and most of all they have the nicest people of any store in the region, without exception. Those of us who remember loving going to a record store to browse, shop, chat about music, etc... this is that place. You'll feel right at home immediately and you will leave some some great vinyl. I can't recommend Mobius highly enough, and I have shopped at dozens of record stores from Maine to Florida to Seattle/Vancouver to San Diego and many spots in between. If you haven't been to Mobius yet, don't sleep on it. As the used selection continues to grow (and they emphasize quality over quantity - if you want endless bins full of old $1 and $2 titles that you see at every used shop in America, it's not your place) the store will only continue to improve. read more

mobius has one of the most widely varying selections i've seen in the Northern Virginia area, by far. as someone with music taste all over the place (anything from Mozart to Metallica..) i was in awe from the moment i started browsing. record after record after glorious record!! the prices are good, very reasonable. it's unlikely that you'd find anything better unless you happened to stumble across it somewhere. the records are all in good shape and have played great at home. every time i come, i leave with exciting new additions to my collection and i've never spent more than $50! the staff are always friendly and helpful, and have often made awesome music suggestions based on what i bought. it's convenient. I'm thrilled to have such an awesome record store so close to home. read more
