I've been here twice now. One was for the basic study and this last one was with a CPAP…read more Obviously no one enjoys sleep centers, right? It's like a pap-smear. lol! Still, this one is a five for it's employees and the surroundings. They have done a near-stellar job at making the rooms home like. Rooms have a full sized firm bed with two pillows, a recliner, a rotating fan, color TV with Xfinity cable, a TV channel list (the list is divided into basic, expanded basic and extended service; theirs is extended), a private bathroom with a shower (no bath seats for those who need them; you may be able to ask for one though, I'm not sure), washcloths and towels. There are only some minor complaints that I have. First, the wires don't reach any further than the bed, so if you have to go to the bathroom you'll have to call someone. Also, the recliner isn't very helpful since your wires won't reach there either. I'm rather surprised that technology hasn't advanced enough to have a wireless system; like an eCardio Event Monitor. Second (and many people wouldn't mind this) but the TVs are outdated, which results in either many stations cut off on one side or they're shrunk down, which in turn makes them difficult to see because the sets are so small. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a have-to-be-HD person, but the channel I wanted to watch was difficult to see. One problem I found was that the sheet that was given to me in advance said "there is a refrigerator you can put food in". Yeah but once you're hooked up, you can't go get it and besides, if you're on a CPAP you can't eat anyway. I guess you could call the staff, but I never like doing that. I prefer to do things myself. Speaking of the staff, they are amazing. Debbie took care of me both times and there was another man who seemed to take care of the men. Debbie is very sweet and very thorough. Things you also may want to know: * Debbie said to get the gunk out of my hair, use the hottest water I can to let it melt it. She was right, but one thing to add to that is to let the water hit it directly. I also used my fingers to loosen it and spread it out to melt faster. It really does come out easily. * If you bring your shampoo you can shower in the morning. They ask you if you have to be anywhere and what time to get you up. Expect to be gotten up at about 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning otherwise. * The door is only open for one hour. They lock it at 9:00. Remember that your 9:00 may not match theirs, so be there earlier. All in all, wires and tubes aside, it was as pleasant as it could possibly be. It's the only one in Mobile, so it's a good thing. They could just be ugly and treat you how they want to because you can't do anything about it anyway, but they aren't.

This place is a total scam. The Dr. spends about 4 minutes with you and orders a sleep study which…read morethey bill as a major medical procedure and charge you 10's of thousands of dollars. At no point did anyone discuss the cost of the procedure with me until after the first night of the study was done and I was on hook for the bill. Now I have to cough up 1000's more out of pocket or its a complete waste of time. Don't be dumb like me this can be done for a fraction of the price elsewhere. Do a little research and save your self thousands of dollars.

In regards to Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic in Mobile, AL, more specifically, Dr Matthew Barber...(I…read morehave not experienced any other professional at this facility): I am certain that Dr. Matthew Barber truly is the excellent surgeon that he boasts in all of his muscle-bare posters scattered every 15 feet or so throughout the clinic. But only as long as you have the proper insurance and can pay the additional thousands of dollars in co-pays and additional fees. BUT, if you DON'T have the proper insurance, and a wad of cash stashed under your mattress, well then, you might as well just move along. That is to say, within the constraints of your physical ability to move at all! So if you find, while trying to find other means of obtaining the procedure you so desperately need, that you only require a minimal form to accompany an application for said assistance, in order to get back being a productive member of society, don't expect any help with that! A simple form, a half page piece of paper, nothing more than a few scribbles, the only thing left standing in the way of just sending the application for assistance....well, you better just go back and start over with another, EQUALLY talented surgeon, because Dr. Matthew Barber just doesn't have time to consider anything that he cannot place on his list of super-human achievements.

The wait time wasn't so bad. The staff is considerate and professional. They always make sure you're alright through the entire process. I am picky about everything and especially my personal doctor. I live almost an hour from mobile in traffic, in Daphne and I will continue to travel that distance because of Dr Cockrell and his staff.
