Other Lawn & Garden stores offer competative pricing as well, but poor to mediocre customer service. The main thing to me is customer service. At the end of the day, it's the only thing businesses have to offer to set them apart from everone else. It's what doing business is all about. And Joe's has been terrific I bought my lawn tractor from Joe's, and I have it serviced every year. They're fair and knowledgable, responsible and prompt. And, its a locally owned company. I highly recommend doing business there.

I took my riding mower to a place in Goshen and paid close to $300. When I tried to mow right…read moreafter picking it up it would not run. I took it back and they tried to say it was my fault it didn't run. Took it to a place in Elkhart and they said it wasn't worth servicing and tried to sell me a new one. When I told them i didn't want a new mower they said they would repair it. After another $300 dollars it only ran marginally better. After a recommendation from a friend I took it to Joe's. Joe got it running great and 100 times better the others and for only $118,00. I will drive the extra miles for the great work and customer service of Joe's Engine. He is a honest man. Not many places like this anymore.

They said the problem was water in the fuel line but...the reason I called them was the mower would not do anything when engaging the key nothing, now I might be an older woman but... I do KNOW that even without getting gas it would still turn over. I had just bought the mower off market place and it was almost out of gas So I took my new gas can that I use for my push mower and filled it up and it ran fine cut the entire yard then when trying to restart it would do nothing. The man that returned the mower said at one point after the mower was on the trailer to return to me that it would not start would not even turn over so he had to call the shop or someone and from there the story is very vague, not even sure he finished it I can remember he said it had plastic gas tank ..not sure what that has to do with anything. Now I have to hold back on the lever that lowers the deck to make sure starts. Geez I want all my parts returned and put back on the mower and this situation corrected. If you read the other reviews this happens often with missing screws and long return times. I am going to dispute the charge with credit card company till this is corrected. ++++++UPDATE++++++UPDATE+++++UPDATE OK I called Schmucker and they said they wanted to make things right, so they came and picked up the mower again on a Friday They returned it yesterday, Wednesday with all the screws and bolts in place and I no longer have to hold anything to get it to start Just turn the key and walah!! They made things right and I wanted to let everyone know that everyone makes mistakes but it takes a Good Person and business to accept and correct it. I would call them again if needed . We brought our snowblower here after we called the place that we bought and were told they were an…read moreauthorized warranty service center. I started out by giving them a call and explained our situation with our snow blower. The lady who answered the phone was both friendly and helpful. She let us know that they would be able to have our snowblower back in a day or two. About an hour later we took it in and were greeted just as pleasantly in person as we had on the phone. She answered our questions and got us taken care of and let us know they would give us a call when it was done. Here is the best part! Just a few hours after we dropped it off they called us to let us know it was fixed and ready to go. While they were at it they adjusted a couple things that would allow the blower to operate better... and not just because they could charge us for the additional work. The amount they charged us for the work they did was more than reasonable. It was much quicker than expected and very thorough. This place may not look like much from the outside, but we would definitely recommend this place and take other stuff here for work if we need it. They were super friendly, accommodating, and know what they are doing!

I was there just a few weeks ago to get my Toro super recycler lawn mower serviced. When I dropped…read moreit off, they gave me an estimate of the service and when I picked it up, it more than doubled. On the paperwork, it stated they had it running for 10 minutes, and it was fine. But the real problem started when they brought out my Toro and I asked them to start it up. After several pulls, it didn't start, and they took it back in to find the problem. He returned a few minutes later and told my the spark plug wasn't hooked up. So, after they ran it for 10 minutes, he unplugged the spark plug? Still having the same issues, just with less money in my pocket. Would not recommend.
