Mobile Illumination has provided our outside Christmas decorations for approx 10 years. We started small and now light up the neighborhood! They put up the lights mid November and come back after Thanksgiving to turn them on. Although not cheap, there is much to be said for not having to purchase and store, hang and take down, the holiday lighting. They get it all done in a day (a long day). Office staff is competent and helpful. If there are any issues with the lights, they come out and take care of it. We have had people leave notes in our mailbox thanking us for providing the holiday cheer. Cars stop in front of our house to view the display all evening long. I only wish we could live across the street from our house for the month of December! read more

Called to inquire about getting my Christmas lights hung. They obviously screen calls by stating their jobs start at $2K in fees, only wanting large jobs. I thought it up front, but also unreasonable, selfish in nature, and outrageously expensive. Not every job is gonna be a large one, but they only want these large jobs, or folks with deep pockets. So come to find out Mobile Illumination is the parent company for ProConnect Electrical. I recently purchased a Tesla and I needed a level two charger installed in my garage. I looked for the recommended electricians on Tesla's website, I saw Mobile Illumination out of Northridge. I went to their location and met the owner, Jason, what a good dude. I asked if they did EV charger installs he said yes. I inquired about, what "Mobile Illumination" was about, he proceeded to give me a tour of their warehouse, apparently they are not only only electricians, but they specialize in holiday lights, event lights, decorative lighting, etc. Apparently they do the light display for the LA Zoo. How cool. After the quick tour, I was guided to his sister Jennifer, who is either a project manager or director, she set me up with a scheduler and scheduled me for an install appointment. Rodney, came over to scope the project out, we had a plan and he set me up for install dates. In the meantime, estimate was sent and scope of work was sent as well. Paid everything online very efficient and organized. Dennis and Salvador came in to do the install work. All the install was clean and safe, trust me I'm OCD with that stuff. I thought they were just going to run flex conduit, but to my surprise they ran the higher quality conduit. Work was done within a few hours. EV charger works great!!! He was so wonderful work with! He knew exactly what we were looking for with the decor for the party! He was able to stick with my budget and create a purple wonderland! When his team that came to the house to set up they were extremely professional, friendly and did such excellent work! The house was a magical full of purple and Christmas lights and purple washes. Our headquarters was decked out for the holidays by FGPG, who subcontracted MI to handle all the lighting/decor installation. This was our first year using them and what a difference it made. The MI team was efficient, personable, and thorough. From our first meeting in the summer to installation in October to dismantling in January, they provided a seamless and transparent process. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR LIGHTS THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH ON THEIR CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT. This was our THIRD YEAR doing lights with Mobile Illumination and paying over 5000$ for lights that other people pay less than half that for. A part of the reason you pay so much is that they are supposed to send someone to fix your lights immediately if they go out. I called over 4 Times and spoke to Noelle who is extremely rude and flippant. NO ONE EVER CAME OUT AND FIXED MY LIGHTS!!! Frank the supposed general manager was just as rude and said he would call me back, he never did. All through Christmas my lights were out. I only write reviews if a company really deserves it, impressing me enough to stop my busy day to let people know, "stop looking and call these guys!" I emailed Mobile Illumination and received a pretty quick reply to set up an appointment to get a bid on outdoor lighting. I asked if they could come in the morning at 8:30? The reply was, "10am is the earliest". I didn't get right back to them, till about 8:30am the next morning, asking if they could come at 10am. No reply. I then asked if they could come later in the day. Again .. no response. I emailed again and mentioned I can find another lighting company if they are too busy. Again, no response. It's unbelievable that business is that good they would just ignore a potentially big job and not even give someone a courtesy call back to try and set up an appointment. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Their sales/administrative/management/service departments do not communicate, they operate in a rogue fashion, not scheduling repairs in a timely manner, asking for payment on a work order before the work is performed. Showing up unannounced, charging my card for substandard repairs that should have been corrected without charge. We contacted Mobile Illumination to install lighting on our tree in our backyard. After negotiating a price (paid in cash) that worked for us, your salesperson, Oscar Sosa managed the team during the installation. It was clearly understood that as the tree grows, the lighting strands would need to be adjusted. After about one year, a part of the lower trunk stopped lighting. I called Mobile Illumination to schedule a service call, and was told that I would have to pay a service charge upfront of $325.00 in order to get my work order scheduled. I found this odd as it was not apparent exactly what the scope of work would be, but I agreed to pay this. After I paid the service fee upfront, I then called at least 4 times to get on the schedule. Finally getting scheduled, Mobile Illumination sent a worker out to troubleshoot the issue with the tree. I asked that he address the area that wasn't lighting and to also take a look at the trunk to see if the strands needed to be loosened. He did not have the correct strand color with him and had to come back. He did return and addressed the lower area that was not working. One day after the "repair" a larger part of the tree didn't work. Again, I had to call over three times to get this addressed as I was charged, and the work again, was substandard and the issue not corrected. Mobile Illumination was not proactive in addressing the issue and in addition, did not contact me to schedule the repair. This past weekend, and to our surprise, a worker just showed up in our backyard, without prior notification. My daughter happened to be home and called me so I could communicate with the technician. I asked him why he just showed up and why I had not been notified. His response was, "I had a list of jobs to take care of and you were on the list." I was not informed that there was going to be an additional charge, I assumed that he was correcting the prior substandard work that the last technician performed. In addition to the mismanagement of my job, a charge came through on my credit card last night for $721.53. This charge was not authorized. Mobile Illumination was not authorized to maintain my credit card information on file. read more

Nice internet site. Responsive in selling me a package. Problem was with the follow thru and operational follow up. Hung my Holiday lights mostly on one circuit. Overloaded the circuit, combined with the rain, and our Holiday lights were out most of the season. They actually came back once and set it back up the same way. When I finally got a call from the supervisor, who promised to get back to me, he tried to put the blame on me. This is a service organization without service. 2017 Had many years of wonderful service with this company (as shown in my original post), but was compelled to update our review after what was a terrible experience. Normally I would not post such a thing however the work, service and overall lack of care for us as a customer was appalling. The young lady in the office was incredibly rude after calling and attempting to correct their billing error. Was then given a general manger who was equally as disingenuous. Then had to call countless times just to get lights fixed, only to have to wait multiple days. Not sure what has happened, but will be hoping they can't correct it. 2016 As an estate manager and personal assistant, promptness and attention to the finer things is important to me and my client. From start to finish I was very impressed with this company. Receptionist was courteous and our designer Dan was wonderful to deal with. Last winter/spring during my 2nd floor addition - I reached out to Mobile Illuminations to get some advice on what type of electrical outlets I should install under my eaves for future Xmas lights. They were so helpful and willing to help guide me even though I was not a customer. Worst experience we have ever had with any contractor both in terms of performance and customer service! We paid in full for all new landscape lighting and then discovered several problems with the lighting that Mobile Illumination had installed, both major and minor. In addition, our credit card was charged in full without our authorization, before the contract was completed. Despite the fact that we reached out to Mobile Illumination multiple times via phone and email to have them fix the problems, M I refused to take responsibility for any of the issues brought to their attention including inoperative lights, loose wires, and outlets not finished to code. In order to make all of the new lights operative and complete the job to code, we had to call in a different electrical contractor at our additional expense to correct Mobile Illumination's shoddy work. Clearly a miserable experience that MI has repeated with quite a few customers if you read all the Yelp reviews. Would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I will start off this review with a very honest confession... I worked for them in 2007 and the owners and employees are personal friends of my older brother. He has worked for them for 3+ years. That being said they are quickly growing to be by far the best you can get. The prices can be a tad high but that is only because they are full service and worth every penny (If you have the money to spend, otherwise, you might as well save all your money and do your lights yourself). This is a holiday lighting company, so they're only available from about October through January (January is primarily and only really for removal of lights). They start off the season installing mostly commercial locations such as The Grove in LA, The Lakes and Civic Arts Plaza trees in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Promenade, etc. They go on to install residential lights right up until Chistmas Eve (well most are done before that, afterall it's a family run business and most people want to see their family during the holidays). They also are available for service to the lights they install throughout the season until they remove them. Removal of lights and any repairs that might be needed are all included in the price paid in full when the lights are installed. Check out their website for more details or just call the awesome office staff for more information (I used to be one of those girls, be nice to them and remember they're there to help you and get plenty of unhappy calls when lights don't work in the rain...try to end your call to them with a thank you or something else nice...remember 'Tis the Season!
