Bought the OEM replacement part from the Subaru dealership and Allen's was able to install the customer provided part in a timely fashion for an insanely affordable cost ($~250). Got me back on the road and didn't bleed me dry, can't complain! Top tier customer service. Would definitely come back for more work in the future.

I brought my vehicle to Allen's Automotive Services after leaving from another shop that had done a…read morediagnostic test and it determined that I needed transmission work/repair done. So I was able to drive it to Allen's Automotive on Utica St. in Metairie, La. I explain the repair work according to the diagnostic reading from the first shop who weren't able to do the work, the employee asked what code did the diagnostic machine give, I called the other shop and the tech sent via text, the code as well as a picture as it was still in his machine I shared it with D. DillenKoffer at Allen's Automotive Services, who then said to me yes we can take care of it for you. So I left my vehicle there at Allen's Automotive. Couple days go by and I get an email from Allen's Automotive in the form of a bill for $3,557.37, which I didn't have but I was relieved to see that there was financing available, so I had the work financed and approved in late January (2026) I got a text that my vehicle was ready to be picked up and because I had the work financed that all was a go I had filled out the necessary documents for the financing part and that it was cleared and I was able to come and get my vehicle, however when I arrived I was told by V. April that it didn't go thru (financing) but actually what he did was added the labor for a part I had supplied which I did not have a problem with but it was just the way he went about it, stating that the financing didn't go thru. I had started receiving emails asking to review Allen's Automotive Services at the time I wasn't quite ready to review Allen's Automotive Services. So I have my vehicle about two months and I noticed oil leaking from the exact spot where the work was performed, so I brought the vehicle back once I noticed the transmission oil leaking, once back at the shop explaining the oil leak I noticed that I was treated differently from when I initially went in for the work to be done, the tech got on it and tightened the bolts of the transmission pan, he used a small hand held battery charged rachet to tighten the bolts. I then get in my vehicle and left, I think that was in mid March, on or about August 4th or so I noticed another oil leak in my driveway under the vehicle so I took pictures of the leak under vehicle as well as oil on the transmission bolts on front of pan and on the rear pan bolts as well as the side pan bolts also, I got under vehicle and touched my finger on one of the bolts that had an oil droplet on it and rubbed it between my fingers, the color of the oil was red as in transmission oil. I called the office and asked if I could get a copy of a receipt that I had misplaced, the lady asked my name or number she located the receipt and sent it to me via email I wasn't sure if work was still under warranty so I brought the vehicle back to the shop again. I was explaining that the transmission was leaking oil again one of the techs said he'd come out and check transmission oil and top transmission oil off and that they weren't able to do anything else that day because they were full. The tech check trans oil and topped it off. He and I walk back in the office and he checks the work order just to be sure it was covered under the warranty the tech then tells me to bring the vehicle back Tuesday August 11th so I asked the tech if I could get something in writing because if I had gotten a trip out of town that it might've brought me over the warranty miles and another guy in the office answered as if he was irritated with my presence and questioning concerning the warranty and he snapped at me saying look we're gonna honor your warranty alright and I asked who he was and he replied in a puffed up manner oh I'm the GM over the shops, and if I say we're gonna honor it we will, it was V. April. So I leave the shop drove to New Orleans and then back to my home in Laplace, La that was Friday August 7th. I came home and parked vehicle and didn't move or drive it till Tuesday August 11th when I brought the vehicle back and it was parked across the street from the shop in back of some Banquet Hall, Wednesday (today) I get a text explaining inspection performed and that it was found to be motor oil blowing back on transmission pan bolts and oil leaking from valve covers on engine and I was sent another bill totaling over $6,000.00 for that work which I declined. I really don't/didn't feel they handle this properly and my warranty wasn't honored, nothing was done about transmission leak cause I know what I touched on my fingers was red transmission fluid, no one can make me think it was anything else.

Initially, I brought my car there to get a diagnostic which it was determined my car essentially needed new brakes, rooters, hubs, etc. (you name it). My car is an 07 Camry, so I understood why the fixes were necessary. The issue came came afterwards, when it was shown that I needed to have repairs to the repairs they had made after I brought my car back for timing belt issues (which they did not diagnose initially). I brought the car back to get the timing belt issue resolved because the car continued to make loud screeching noises when I accelerated. After the timing belt was fixed, my car ran ok for another week then the starter and the battery went out on the car. I brought it back here after spending $8 over the matter of a three month period- they charged me for a diagnostic and told me I needed a new battery and starter now. I felt it ridiculous to have to pay for another diagnostic after spending thousands at this location in such a short window (mind you, this was summer 2025). The police was called and I still ended up paying for the diagnostic. About a week ago, I heard the screeching sound and my wheel is starting to vibrate rapidly again as I'm breaking which indicates the timing belt is still not properly repaired. When I called them back to look at the work they did on my car considering I am having timing belt issues again, they gave me a number to call and said I could not bring my car back to them. Y'all be careful and mindful of who you allow to work on your cars, not all business believe in integrity and customer satisfaction-this car repair shop is all about getting your money. I would stay far away from them!!!!!

Trust me." I called at that moment and spoke to Frank. I explained my issue and Frank told me to bring my car. I arrived and the team checked my car in and told me they'd call when they'd diagnosed the issue and had a repair estimate. Folks, they literally had to nearly dismantle my car while tracing the battery drain. I held my breath for the famous "this was more than we expected. The price increase will be ______ thousand." That call never came. Only a call to tell me the diagnosis, another call when the part arrived, and a call to tell me the vehicle was ready for pick up. They even accepted payment over the phone, and left the car where I could pick it up after I arrived from my flight later that evening. I hope I never have another issue like this, but if I do, Star is where I'm going! Thanks Frank and the entire Star team!!

Lord Help Me, I hate to report my experience, but it is what it is and hopefully this will may help some other person out. I was sent by a very trusted source, for a used car I had just bought with the suv chugging on an overpass. These guys are about as close to family as you can get and that's why I trusted them with my life, as well as my horse! 1st visit, truck stayed in their care for a week before they got around to looking at it. Then another few days to actually do the work. Not sure, if this is normal business??? ‍I was highly disgruntled, but chalked it up to a very busy, great mechanic shop! Seaux, I grumbled under my breath, and didn't bother to share my thoughts. I thought I was getting the Friends & Family treatment! Well the joke was on me! When I drove for Uber, I'd give my friends or family a nice discount to show my love for them, seaux I had hoped for a little extra care. This was Not exactly what I received here. Tho, I did purchase a new battery and they installed it free, I felt like I had gotten some special treatment. Tho, my bill came to $750 and I'm still unsure what that covered as vehicle ran the same after visit. The horse didnt make it back to the house because after making a pit stop, the truck refused to start. I was totally baffled, to say the least. Seaux, I called in and was told I had to have it towed back to shop. They found the battery cables werent properly connected. Seaux therefore: You guessed it, I got stuck using 1/5 Allstate Roadside Service events. I'm now wanting to learn automechanics myself to prevent such a nightmare! Cause if you cant trust such a trusted shop who is to be trusted? I was never offered reimbursement for the tow and I would think that would have been common courtesy or the very least they could do since their mechanic was at fault. Did they think I was made of money??? I was told by others that they shoulda paid for the tow not me. I don't understand, and can't quite get it! The first visit cost me $750ish for whatever & a new battery, with no maintenance charge to put in the new battery. Oh course, I was warned not to get any work done but, I felt the need to peck away at the long list, that me informed me should be fixed, seaux I picked a cheaper item. I do know, though I felt a little better for having it looked at, it really didn't act any different, afterwards! Mechanic mentioned it was probably bad gas, that it should self correct after I ran it abit and put new gas in it. A couple months later the battery dies and fortunately I was sitting in my driveway. Luckily it was within the 90 day warranty period. I get it towed in & they recharged battery for quite a long time and put their stamp of approval on it. Once again, I get it home and it won't start. I was told to get it towed back to shop seaux they can get to the bottom of it. I asked why they didn't replace battery instead of merely charging it and was told if machine deems battery good, they couldn't or wouldn't replace it? Well, imho it must be bad if it doesn't last more than 3 months! Sure enough I get it home and she wont start again. I could only laugh to laugh to keep from crying. I believe this time I was told she was ready, seaux I took a Lyft to geaux get her, and oppsie, they discovered she wasn't quite ready . I sat there for another few hours. Re-charging a new battery, only 2 1/2 months old??? Geaux figure! Not much later, i get the hot engine on dash, so i take it for oil change thinking it must be out of oil. I really would have thought all fluids should have been checked when seviced but, what do I know about cars & mechanics??? Seaux, the horse begins to overheat and was told to bring it in, they'd take a look. I had already gone thru almost 2 gallons of coolant. After 1st overheating, I had oil change. I believed that Walmart would check fluids/ coolant??? I guess not. They say it's not something they do. Coolant reservoir found empty. Seaux, I skip across the street to gas station for coolant. I have this sweet man- librarian fill the reservoir with coolant (after checking Google) and off we geaux. Of course, i keep a close eye on the meters quite religiously! I pulled over twice heading to Metairie as gauge neared boiling point. Sat for 10/15 mins seemed to be fine seaux away we geaux! It was the weekend and all mechanic shops were closed. Even with coolant full, it overheats, tho, I quickly pull over and allow for engine to cool. After checking coolant level, it seems to be fine. Couple days later that reservoir is empty. Contacted shop, sure enough they say, once again bring it in, they'll get to the bottom of it, lmao! I surely believe & took them at their word. I state my upset they tell me to chill in seaux many words. Seaux, I try to keep my cool!
