I usually fill up at Costco, but when I'm not in the mood for the crowds or the drive, I come here sometimes. I usually just get gas, but it looks like they also have pizza and other snacks inside if you need a quick bite or drink while you're here.

I had a very unpleasant experience two days ago and I'm not sure who can help correct this:…read moreThere was a violent rain/windstorm in Rochester on Monday and I drove down East Avenue towards Wegmans to buy groceries. A large tree had fallen down onto East Avenue by 1530 East Avenue, and in the rain and dark I drove right into it (as it was unmarked by anything and there were no street lights nearby). I was fine but the car's windshield was broken and undoubtedly there was damage to the front. After the accident, I was phoning the AAA to get my car towed as they do not charge for towing, when a policeman came over to me and said "I've called for a tow service for your car." I said, "I'm on the phone with the AAA right now to request towing." He said, "Hang up. The towing service has been ordered." A tow truck arrived from "East Avenue Auto" located at 1656 East Avenue in the Sunoco Gas station, about 400 feet from the accident. The next morning, my insurance company authorized me to take the car to a repair shop to be examined and have the windshield replaced. About 1:30PM I called AAA and asked them to pick the car up at the Sunoco Gas station. The AAA driver called me from the station and said the Sunoco Gas manager said there was a bill owed to them and wouldn't release the car until paid, and that the amount owed was $296.03!!! I couldn't believe towing a car less than one city block could cost that amount, but to get my car released I paid it by phone using my credit card. Here is a copy of the charges on the bill. $180.50  "Towing" 80.00 "$40/day for 2 days of storage" 5.00 "Fuel Surcharge" 9.29 "Convenience Fee" 21.24 Tax $296.03 I think that bill is outrageous; 2 days storage for having the car in the gas station lot from 9PM Monday to 2PM Tuesday, $180 for towing my car about 400 feet, "fuel surcharge" and "convenience fee" obviously just padding. AAA would have been there just as quickly and there would have been NO bill at all! I hope that the City of Rochester has some supervision of the towing process and can help me get most of that money refunded. I'll look forward to hearing from you, either by email or phone. I've written to a City Council member and will post the results.
