We were lucky to be just outside of town and managed to limp the car into Jim's Service Center. I checked the oil and it was really low, so I went inside to buy a couple quarts. Luis stepped forward and assisted me with the oil, even putting it into the car's engine, so I didn't have to get dirty doing it myself. Unfortunately, the engine warning light stayed on, so we left the car onsite so John (mechanic) could check it out the next day. John called us the next afternoon and said that he looked at it, but they didn't have the correct analysis equipment to read our Kia's engine malfunction code. He suggested a couple other shops in town. Unfortunately, they were booked up for several weeks. We made arrangements to have the car towed down to the Kia dealership in Ventura (see review for Kirby Kia of Ventura, CA). Jim's allowed us to leave the car there until the next afternoon when the tow service was available. John was very upfront and honest. Didn't even charge us for the time it took him to do the initial analysis to find out what the issue was. You always hear about auto mechanic shops taking advantage of people. I just can't express how impressed I am with the professionalism, courtesy, and honesty of the Service Center's team. I only wish they were in my neighborhood, so if I need any future assistance with our vehicles, they'd be there to help.

I had to wait a little while to be able to get to a pump, but once that was accomplished, we were good to go. $3.99 was the cash price on 1/29/24. I didn't go into the convenience store, so I don't have any info on that part of the business. They were definitely busy on a Monday afternoon. Price point surely had something to do with it. This may have been the first time I've ever gotten gas in Buellton while driving to San Francisco. On the way south, it's possible just because I rarely have a completely full take when I leave San Francisco. On this occasion, though, I unforgivably didn't have a full tank when I left SoCal, and the single bar I had left on my fuel gauge just started blinking when I got off the 101. Conserv Fuel was closest and not one of chains I avoid, so Conserv it was. There were a couple of out-of-order pumps, which was annoying because other people had just parked their cars in front of other (working) pumps and gone into the store rather than being considerate and parking elsewhere. When I finally got a pump that worked, its card reader was out of order, so I ended up paying cash inside. The store is pretty well stocked and clean. The bathroom is cleanish, but it's right off a busy highway, so I understand why it's not cleaner. The person at the cash register was really friendly. So friendly, in fact, that it took me a long time to get my change because I had to wait for a conversation with a previous customer to end. I'd definitely come again, but I'm unlikely to need to. There was just too much broken stuff at the pumps for this gas station to deserve anything above two stars.

They incorrectly installed a part on my suspension twice. Had to go back multiple times for them to correct it. They never got it right. I even found loose hardware all over. They said they left it loose to make it easier for the guys at the alignment shop. Very concerning. Alignment shop guys ended up feeling sorry for me and reinstalled all the parts correctly. Price was about the same I got quoted elsewhere, just quality and attention to detail was not ideal at all.

I actually like this gas station quite a bit because it's closer to where I usually end up staying…read morenear State St (the other one is all the way down at the other end ...) and they have a very convenient drive up area on Chapala near major shops. That, paired with the fact that the gas is not astronomical makes this a good place to stop when you're running low after doing a road trip to Santa Barbara. The gas station only has about 4 pumps, and one of them is consistently out of service but at least the other three are fairly fast. I really have trouble waiting for really slow pumps and often don't fill up all the way since it takes like 10 minutes to do 10 gallons or something. There is a nice little Seaside Market attached to this Shell with all the expected amenities you would want in a convenience store.

This small four pump gas station with a single automotive repair bay reminded me of something you would see in the movies. Not only what is I able to fill up my tank, but the attendant was kind enough to clean my front and rear windshields wonderfully.
